thank you for posting the entire teardown, I watched it specifically so that I wouldn't make the same mistakes putting it back together. in case you were wondering, you put the flap spring in wrong (that why it bows downwards) and on the cartridge lock that second screw (without the plastic washer) actually goes under the latch. The slot cover spring gets sandwiched between the body top and the cover that goes behind the slot. otherwise you did a great job. Don't listen to the haters about your retro-brite, the top of the shell doesn't seem to take the retrobriting very well
You did a goodjob and I am 2 years late posting but get you some led lights to put inside your tub. That one bulb on top I dont think will do it for retrobrighting. I think that and then I saw you said you didnt have the right % hydrogen peroxide as well but I think it is mostly the one bulb. You need more coverage (in my opinion) Besides that, looks pretty good.
Hey you restore things like I do! Most of time I have to take 75% of the console apart just to reinstall things I forgot too! Great Vid! Keep up the noble work my man!
Nice work! You’ve definitely earned a sub. If you don’t mind some constructive criticism, I think you should’ve made more cuts in the footage/ sped it up more, as these videos are easier to digest when they’re 10 - 15 minutes long. Also, I think your retrobrighting could use some work. If you want a really good method, check out Odd Tinkering’s tutorial. (It’s usually in the description of most of his console repair videos.) You’ve got a lot of potential, so I hope you take this to heart.
Thanks! I'm just getting started so I still have a lot to learn. I've actually watched Odd Tinkerings video on that. I think my issue was mostly because I was using a low percent hydrogen peroxide. I couldn't get my hands on anything stronger so I just thought I'd try what I had .
I love how this guy just pours the hydrogen peroxide on top of the aluminum and also the cornucopia of different items weighing it down lol screwdrivers, toothbrushes and rulers
This is like the angrier version of Odd Tinkering, I love it! Would like to see more!
hahaha is the evil brother
Hahahahaha EXACTLY

I can hear his anger when he misstep something hahaha. Cool video :)
In order for the retrobright to work efficiently, it needs to be sealed to prevent evaporation.
So what ended up being the issue with the controller?
