- The Rafale manufactured by Dassault Aviation, is a twin-jet fighter aircraft able to operate from both an aircraft carrier and a shore base.
Whereas, F-16 Fighting Falcon is a fourth generation single-engine supersonic multirole fighter aircraft manufactured by Lockheed Martin. And approximately 3,000 operational F-16s
are in service today in 25 countries.

You have to fly plane,fire,and fight with the enemy,as well as to maneuver your plane to save yourself. And I did not say that plane is not important,I have simply said that the pilot is equally important as the plane he is flying.
Our small Net planes have fought successfully with far better sabre jet in 1971/1965. War .
Whichever one is flown by a PAF Pilot.

nope the mig doesnt even have basic missile detection systems. The pilot needs a lot of skills to locate a missile coming towards him and activate counter measures. The rafale is a good addition to the Indian air force

Not really, Pilot awareness is the most important, with RBE 2AA, and Meteor combination, Rafale can take down F-16 from well beyond range of 200 kms, why the need to get into a dogfight
@@sachinmesta4238 In the old days it was always on the pilot skill. Just look at all those poor Vietnamese pilots managing to take down the super rich USA and they even have their own aces. That time missile and radar tech had many limitations. It did play a huge role.
This time technology and better surveillance, network intel plays a HUGE part. Its one of the reason why the USAF F-15 has no air to air combat losses. The enemies USA and Israel fought had no AWACS platforms. If you know the where the enemy is in the early phase of the battle then it is much easier to plan ahead. Even if Iraq or Syria had the Rafale or F-16...they will loose against USA and Israel as long as they dont buy the AWACS plane...they will always loose. Even Syrian pilots had their own ace pilots against Israel during at one point.
@@jojyrocks Your points are outdated. During Vietnam war, the American heatseeking was AIM-9 sidewinder, which had a range of max 10 kms, the Russian counter part was AA-2 Atoll. The missiles had limitations of seekers as well as range. how many missiles did the earlier MiG-21 carry? 2 !! A radar and 2 heat seeking missiles. And of course gun.Also the range of the radar was abt 40-50 kms. which that time was HUGE.
Now we have AESA radar which are difficult to Jam as they transmit in different frequencies at the same time. The missiles have an excellent range in excess of 200 kms. The present day replacement of Atoll missiles is R-73 (short range IIR missile) has range much better than the 70s Medium range AIM-7 Sparrow missile. During vietnam conflict the missiles were in its infancy, now the missiles as well as counter measures are very developed, Missiles like METEOR have their own Active Radar seeker, which ensures a no escape zone at 100 kms, thus when the missile reaches within 100 kms of enemy, its kill probabnlity is 1.
AWACS can provide you an excellent battlefield perview hence directing your units better, rather than having 20 planes flying CAPs, they can use AWACS and that can allow CAPs of 6 planes, and the rest ready to take off when alarm sounds, thus having better combat preparedness. AWACS is not a plane can destroy all, if so, why need a fighter plane? AWACS shows entire picture of battlefield and also the various manuevers as to bring enemy planes into a trap and shoot them down. its often called GODS EYE.
THUS FOR ABOUT 400 KMS RADIUS, you cn see the entire battlefield, direct your units to intercept enemy units, direct the other units to lay a trap to destroy the enemies, on 27th PAF tried to use their tactics using SAAB Eyerie, we were using our NETRA thus both had idea of what was happening, what PAF failed to see was the flight of Abhi & his wingman as they came up from between hills that was hidden from the Eyerie. Its because of our NETRA that we knew how the PAF was developing its trap,
Avionics is the most important, pilot skills are important, but i doubt that an excellently skilled pilot in say F-16 can escape a METEOR at 150 kms range. the F-16 will get detected first, and be shot down... each time.
the fun part is that MICA NSG will be superor to AMRAAM as it will be in both Radar homing & IIR flavours.
If going by your logic, then India should be producing Mughal era cannons as they were very reliable, easy to maintain etc.

In reality both F16 and Rafale are great similar planes...rest depends on Pilot Skills. F16 has proven track record, and Rafale has performed remarkably well in Libya, Afganistan and few other conflicts. I would choose Rafale because it came 15 years after F16 and the designers included much more advanced features in it than F16. F16 can be upgraded but it's more expensive and tedious than a standard Rafale which already has those features.

1. Range doesn't matter within this range but fuel tank must be drop when dogfight starts to gain maneuver movements. Another factor matter most like high acceleration, high climb rate, high G force sustainability, low speed of aircraft. No mean of high speed.

2. No means of loading point just air to air missile play role & just cannons. AIM-9 can hit target off the course or line of sight. Meteor good for long range with a booster to chase down a plane.

3. Not much use of radar when engaging fighters within 5-10km. Just cannons will be used.
