    Did you have to change the mass airflow sensor, or did the stock one work?

    • @RideauValleyMotorsports

      The stock one fits right in. It is a pretty nice kit and it has held up really well. No issues after more than a year now.

  • @Zaitendo
    @Zaitendo 3 ปีที่แล้ว +13

    This is really cool, but I was curious, since the intake is now a lot lower to the ground then the stock one. Do you have any issue's with water from rain, or from a big puddle on the road being sucked up from the new intake?

    • @RideauValleyMotorsports

      I haven't had any issues so far. Where the filter sits is tucked in between the bumper cover and the inner fender plastics. It is pretty dry there.

    Did you ever experience any issues with your car running lean? Did you ever get your car tuned after install?

    • @RideauValleyMotorsports
      @RideauValleyMotorsports  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, it doesn't seem to be running lean. I didn't get it tuned, but it does use the stock air flow sensor. Maybe I'll hook it up to the scanner and see if there is any indication of a lean condition.

    At what speeds does it start to make that noise?

    • @RideauValleyMotorsports
      @RideauValleyMotorsports  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It depends more on the RPM than the speed. These MR engines have variable valve timing (VVT ... kind of like Honda's VTEC) and it seems to kick in around 5000-5500 RPM. That is where it starts to sound like that! Accelerating onto an on-ramp is the best with this setup. It sounds really good even though I'm not going terribly fast.

    • @RideauValleyMotorsports
      @RideauValleyMotorsports  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Double check the wiring connections for the air flow sensor. Could be something to do with that. If the ECM can't accurately gauge how much air is coming in, it may not idle right. Could be a safety feature to keep it from running too lean.
      I had a Ford Probe that would do that. Turned out there was a tear in the rubber that was letting a whole bunch of unmetered air in. It would just die. Double check that everything is attached correctly.
