Having a set of Metic and SAE tools is a must when doing work on vehicles now because there are different sizes used for different parts of the vehicle.

Thanks. Its nice to see a repair being done on a rusted mess instead of a prestine 15 year old vehicle. I watched these the other day and tackled the driver side yesterday. I'm watching again before I go set the final torque and do the other side.

I like that you guys use hand tools that most of us home mechanics would use. I have cordless impacts that would speed the job up, but it's good to see the way I would have done it as a teenager with hand tools and muscle, haha. Your videos really help me keep up my 03' F150 as well as parts from your store on occasion🙂

1A Auto posts the best videos. I have had to watch a lot of them & they are always helpful, including the list of tools needed. Those rotors are too ate up with rust. Hopefully, more than upper control arms were replaced. The only aggravating things was the guy calling nuts bolts. I like to be specific so there is no miscommunication or confusion.

I was able to spray all the bolts threads and around the bushings with penetrating oil 3 times over 4 days before. Everything slid right apart no problems. You do need two 21mm sockets one to hold and one to tighten on the control arm frame bolts. Thanks for the video!

I kept telling the lady and mgr at Auto Zone that what they were selling me were lower ball joints not the upper but they were adamant about had to rent a press tool and $70 each for what they said were the uppers total about $ 250.00 .Well I finally gave up took everything thing back and got hassled because parts were from 3 different stores had to call a Dist Mgr through a friend to finally get my money back !!! Wish they would hire people that at least try to figure out how to get the right parts or ask for someone who Does Know !! It is now 9:40 Thanks for your video both sides have just been replaced in less than an hour !! Started this replacement project at 8:30 am !!! Allowing the spray penetrant some time to work will help stubborn bolts come out easier. Also, whacking on parts with a hammer (shocking them) will also help loosen the parts quicker. Shocking parts break loose the corroded / joined parts. Shocking also helps knock off 'crusty' rust, so box end wrenches and sockets will fit over any nuts easier.

The procedure would be different. We currently do not have an auto repair video that shows you how to do this particular repair. If you have a Haynes or a Chiltons manual it should be covered in there for you.

OK, I get it now. The holes in the frame mount brackets are slotted and need marked so you can keep the camber and caster nearly the same. Then go to an alignment shop to get the wheel alignment precise.

Now i need to change my driver side. I noticed u said to mark the bolts or it can cause camber or mis alignment. If they did not mark the passenger side do you think thats why im baring right and they lowered my torsion bars to equal the height. How can i even it back out if this is the case? The control arm I installed came with a plastic cover on the upper ball joint like the Ford did here before it was replaced. I noticed the new arm didn't have the plastic sleeve like the old one. What is the difference exactly? If my new control arm came with the sleeve should I have left it on? I thought it was just to protect the ball joint boot and meant to discard as I did.
