The dogs who are in shelters and rescues and dying are often bred by people who think it neat to put two dogs together randomly to produce puppies, surrendered by people who get puppies and dogs impulsively like they are products, or others who breed and sell puppies without educating the families and taking lifelong responsibility for their dogs. The dogs who come from breeders--LIKE ERIN--who spend thousands of dollars and hundrreds of hours researching, health testing, planning, raising their puppies on a structured curriculum such as Puppy Culture, then getting to know the families, placing the puppies and being there for the entirety of the puppies lives, rarely end up in shelters. And yes, I do advocate for rescue and shelter dogs; I respect shelter and rescue workers who not only rescue and save dogs but who also educate people with compassion and without shaming anyone. I also advocate for well-bred dogs and the breeders who work hard to bring them into the world. I challenge and push for dog people to be better people, to look at themselves and be better humans if they want better dogs instead of expecting dogs to be little furry human substitutes... which they are not.
