An honest cooking show... "I'm a mom, and who has time to make that from scratch"... "I have dark brown sugar, so that's what I'm going to use"... i love it!
I don't know that it is exactly a parody so much as a slap at the snobbish self proclaimed elite cooks who basically say their way is the only way. Real cooks use what they have and cook to feed themselves or their families. The other kind of cooks cook to show off. So every ingredient has to be perfect and exactly according to the recipe.

Using frozen biscuits? Matt must be burning some serious rubber to your house! Girl, run! Honestly, saw the name Talia in the description and said "Time's a'wastin'!!!"
I’m going to add “smoosh” to my vocabulary as much as possible. I may even have to smoosh it in places it wouldn’t ordinarily fit. And isn’t Talia Lin the cutest thing? Love IAST. Y’all are great.
Just a suggestion. I helped my mother fix BLTs for breakfast about a month ago. Yes, toasted white loaf bread and fresh cut tomatoes with mayonnaise. When cooking the bacon, parchment paper was used instead of tinfoil. The bacon doesn’t stick to parchment paper and I really don’t think the sheet pan needed a wash. Not trying to be critical, but just save a little time.
I’m from Ohio but I lived in Oklahoma for a few years and have friends in Texas. I like watching these because they’re funny and it reminds me of them. Wonderful people!
My grandma always told me to do the same thing and yet I had to learn the hard way (granted, I never saw her do this but always eyed it and just knew).

Been watching 'SEC Shorts' for years but somehow just recently discovered 'It's a Southern Thing'. The whole cast is funny but Talia is my favorite! I think I made my wife jealous by talking about how funny she is. lol She'll get over it.

"Smoosh". I should have gone to a culinary arts school so I knew some of these professional cooking terms... LOVE the video and it should be its own regular show!
Biscuits are NOT scones, they may look similar, but a proper biscuit is light, fluffy, and buttery, scones are dense hard and plain, if you get a biscuit that's like a scone, send it back , it's probably a month old.
I thought this was going to be a skit and it was a real chicken recipe. Lol Awesome!! Loved it! Now if I could just get my husband to trust me with a deep fryer.....
Learned this the other day: Instead of dropping the chicken straight onto the paper towel, put them on a drying rack ABOVE the towel lined plate. That way, they won't sweat/condensate and make the bottom sides mushy.
My Georgia-born mom taught me how to make homemade biscuits & it was tiring! Frozen are wonderful! Those sliders look so good! Thank you, for the recipe!🌸
Next episode... I hope Talia does a sweet potato/yam dish. Something that's got coconut, pecans, brown sugar, marshmallows in with the sweet potato/yam. ahhhh, yum!
First: Really love the bamboo growing on your kitchen wall! Very Cool 8-) Second: How long did you bake the bacon & what temperature? I'm a big proponent of making things easy in the kitchen - nothing wrong with that!
People who think homemade biscuits take longer than canned or frozen biscuits haven't made too many homemade biscuits; I can make a batch of dough in about the time it takes to preheat the oven... However, frozen biscuits are not the worst and this looks really good
@@billstephens396 it's the only reason I would buy canned biscuits lol. Roll em into snakes and connect the ends and you can even make them look like donuts. I think I have a very old video on it but I used homemade biscuits in that video. Canned cake frosting is pretty good on them too!

I appreciate that, in true Southern Mama fashion, not a measurement was to be found! 💚🖤💚
Amen
Measurements, we don't need no stinking measurements. That's how my grandma taught me to cook.
Yeah. Who needs them?
Agreed.
I'm northern born and bred, and that's the way Dad taught me to cook when I was 8, and I've been cooking that way for 60 years.

She forgot to add a lettuce leaf to the biscuit so that it becomes a healthy salad. It's a well-known health food technique.

I'd go with a pickle. Sweet or hot, possibly dill. Whatever is in the frig. Your choice.
Lettuce & pickle for a good crunch
Lettuce and a slice of tomato.
