  • Some footage crossing the border from Romania into Hungary at Petea. The scenery fairly standard but the roads were like a series of connected potholes.
    I'm still getting over the back injury but it's getting better day by day and will test it out in next few weeks.

    I am Italian and I love that Hungary defends their traditions and their pride as Nation. On the other hand, I like Romania a lot because their language is almost the same as mine. Hungarian language is way more difficult.

      Yes lot of similarities between Romanian and Italian. Also I am a firm believer that a country should be able to determine its own borders and defend its sovereignty as a nation.

    Yeah, as a Hungarian, this is embarrassing. Connected potholes, that's good :) But to be fair you pay the toll for the motorways, not these. I'm not sure what vehicle you drove but I don't think these roads are tolled for any vehicle, except for large trucks. Still... they should be paying us to drive on roads like this, not the other way around. Even like fifteen years ago I used to go to Romania a fair bit and even back then their main roads were much better. Hope you found some better roads later.

    The potholes are a natural way of keeping the driver focused on the road. This way when you buy a car you don't have to spent money on extra features such as vibrating steering wheel or lane assist or whatnot. :))))

      Dude you do not even have roads, only a verfy few. It is like refurbishing an old building. It is always cheaper to build a new building than refurbishing old ones. These roads are ancient, built originally for horse coaches, so they have been repaired regularly but it is kind of useless/waste of money with the heavy traffic today coming from Romania. If you Romanians had proper roads that could connect to our motorway system we could just redirect heavy traffic to the motorways and these small roads could be saved and maintained properly. They are simly not built for 40 tonns of trucks but your f.king trucks destroy them. And why should we allow 40 tons of trucks travelling there in the first place? You have no business there.

    • @rusaa5293
      @rusaa5293 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      @@freebozkurt9277 I can totally disagree. But of course, Hungarians have to show their spite and frustration with every opportunity. The A1 Motorway goes from the capital to Nădlac at the border with Hungary and further connected with the one in Hungary.
      Your roads are most surely bad due to bad maintainance, stop finding guilt in others for your own weaknesses. I have been myself to Hungary and Hungarian roads are far worse than Romanian. And that’s a shame considering that your country is a plain, whereas Romania is mostly mountainous and hilly making it harder for highways and everything road-like to be constructed.
      So please, stop trolling and with this comment that you just let, you demonstrated my first point.
      Also, check his other videos from Slovakia, another country bordering Hungary, with much better roads, too.

      - calling people or entire nations names does not prove your point or gives you credit of any kind
      - your personal biased experiance/view does not provide statistical reference point
      - these roads CANNOT maintained with the actual traffic as it was not designed and built for that. Reconstruction and upgrading (demolishing completely and building a new one with deeper stronger fundation) could be an option if we wanted this heavy load traffic to cross our villages, cities. But we do not want it. If you Romanians happy with the situation that in your villages trucks are travelling next to the houses then it is your choice.
      - the Hungarian concept is to build heavy duity motorways and squeeze the trucks completely out from the main streets of the villages, cities and small local roads. Once it is done the local road is nicely refurbished and these truck cannot use them anymore (only with special permit if they need to deliver something locally)
      - (if you think that it is cheaper to build roads in swamps than on rocks then you are an idiot. But it is irrelevant here as not the money or the will/care is missing but the strategic priorities are set different)
      - Slovakian roads are such a good ones that the Slovaks themselves go through Hungary M1/M3 if they travel from Bratislava to Kosice (the two biggest cities in Slovakia at the opposite ends of the country) to save time and do the trip comfortably.

Besides Hungary has the strongest heavy truck flux in the region as we have the best motorway system and every country around us use them and we are in a central location. Taxes are tricky as you cannot differentiate between Hungarian and internation trucks. Hungarians pay twice for it: once when pay taxes and once when pay for the use. Foreigners pay only once. It is not fair. If you increae the use fee to a level that covers all the costs then many cannot afford and will not use the motorway system.

      Yes my friend I agree bad roads everywhere, but some countries have a real mix with some terrible legacy roads. These old roads instead of patching the asphalt just remove it, better to have plain concrete underneath or even just a smooth dirt road. By the way come to Romania now you will find it very hard to find a main road anymore like that and I have driven all over the country. I know you have some good freeways and highways that are awesome. So not saying all roads in Hungary are bad but this one was not good. Ukraine also I agree, lot of really bad road, worse than that. Stay safe, avoid this road 😁👍

      Romanian roads are way better than what you mentioned there. Ukraine are still disaster, Bulgaria sometimes disaster, Serbia lives from some Express roads. Romania has delayed highways also because of the mountains and costs, but has rehabilitated normal roads. What's happening here makes me believe Orban doesn't care about Hungarians of Romania.

  • @juz3r1
    @juz3r1 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Sorry, but this video is a bit false. Why did you leave the highway? Why did you drive through the small villages? Just for fun, I used Google Street view to see the roads between three villages in Romania. The first one was the road to a village called Petek. There's not even concrete, just gravel. Then I looked at the village of Poleni, where there are no two lanes... The third village was Barca down south. Just a simple dirt road (DC2A)... I didn't search, I just picked these three at first glance.

    • @BitsofEurope
      @BitsofEurope  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Ok so here we go again. I am not Romanian so I have the liberty of being able to make an objective comment. The video is not false, the road existed and the video speaks for itself, we did not invent the road! Did I say all Hungarian roads are like that, no. Hungary has some great Motorways but those are motorways and should be good. With regard to leaving the highway, that's what you do when you are on a driving adventure and going across borders. With regards to roads you picked, DJ and DC are the lowest category of road, being drum judetean (county) or drum comunal (local) and yes 4.8% of DC are dirt and 21% of DJ are dirt, that is a fact of life in the middle of farming communities and the mountains etc. Everywhere in the world ahs dirt roads still. In Australia we have thousands of kilometres of dirt roads for example. What you are trying to do is compare a dirt road in Romania to a piece of very bad bitumen/concrete road in Hungary, simply a silly case to put forward. The fact is, the horrible road in the video is not a DJ or DC equivalent it is classed as secondary main road in Hungary, you can see the road numbers in the video and the village names like Csengersima. Also as soon as you enter into Hungary across the border which is a national entry point, the road is already patchy. My argument is that you have a bitumen/concrete road in use that is terrible, there is no denying that. Its not meant to be dirt, its a bitumen road that has not been maintained so do not try to compare it to a dirt road or roads with single lanes each way at the local farming level. Simply not the same. Finally as I said, this is not attacking Hungary, simply saying this road was garbage and needed fixing and as you can see, I did not make that up. Ty for comment.

      Believe me my sarcasm can be as good as it gets depending on who I engage with. I used to live in Sydney in Australia mate so no, not too cheap to pay a toll given its the most tolled roadway system in the world. You only see what you want to see? That's not a road mate. Like many places, money is put into big main roads but villages and communities are left to run down. So you prefer to get offended rather than someone highlight it and maybe get something done? At least here in Romania pretty much everywhere we have good secondary roads as well. That road would be better if they got rid of the tar all together and left as a dirt road, easier and smoother to drive on.
