I refused and when the mechanic (who was a really nice guy) brought the car back he was disheartened I'd chose not to have the work done with him and asked me why. I showed him the prices they were trying to charge me and he couldn't believe it. I ended up cutting out servicing stop and going through him directly. Saved about 50% off what servicing stop were charging! Beware, this film is accurate and the company is a scam ripping people off.
I used to work at a garage that used Servicing Stop as a vendor, so many dumb people out there who have not got a clue when they are being ripped off. Even us at the garage used to laugh at the prices they would charge on top of what we would charge the customer if they came to us directly. Nearly double the amount at times and people pay it. We got a lot of work out of them because we use to tell the customer to refuse to have the work done through SS and let us do it, eventually we told SS to get lost, we got a lot of good customers who returned for more work so we ended up ripping SS off. There must be a lot of idiots out there oblivious and still using the service.

It's only surface rust like you get on your discs when the car sat overnight in the rain! I even told them that at that time I worked for VOSA and that they were talking S**T; it fell on deaf ears. Avoid this crowd of scammers guys...it's not worth it in the long-run :)
I've done a little digging. A Fuel filter on a Volkwagen passat is a very simple thing to replace, not even half an hour in labour. The part itself from a well known stockist is £20. So add £10 labour & you've got £30 & that's with VAT on the part too. There will be a part markup too but the total job shouldn't be anywhere near £77. I've been trying to get into mechanics for a while now (very difficult trade to get into btw) & when I see firms like this who not only con people out of their money but also con mechanics out of their integrity, it's very upsetting
Always use family recommended places. I take mine to a small garage. They have never done wrong by me for MOTs and services and even show me the part their replacing and the black and white regulations they have to go by if I'm suspicious. They've earned my trust and I happily part with my cash for them knowing it's a necessity for my car. Last time I paid out was £10 for a new suspension bearing rubber sleeve and showed me the split one.
Sagar Kaushik threatened to take them to court as I had proof the service works was not complete. An offer was made where they offered half the money and a free service at another garage but we rejected that offer and then they accepted liability and gave back our money.
Changing oil & filters, brakes, windscreen wipers and minor parts is basic easily accomplishable work that anyone who can read a manual can do for the parts cost themselves and save many hard earned £££££’s.

Just because something costs more does not always mean a sales person is going to earn more. It all depends totally on the business or company structure, to a degree the sales process and services offered.
Kwik fit, National Tyres & Exhausts, ATS, Formula 1, The Dealerships are all out to rip you off. Get your car serviced from a garage that is registered with the good garage scheme and ask them to leave any old parts in a box, in the boot of your car. That way, you know the job has been done. Better still, ask them to send pictures and video of the work carried out. I have 30+ years experience in the motor trade and *all* the mentioned places are out to rip you off, plain and simple.

Last year I booked an MOT and they told me that brake discs should be replaced. When I informed them that they were replaced 12 months previously they tried to tell me that brake discs usually need replacing annually.
DIY for me, Only MOT its self needs doing by the garage. My local one got so peeved with me taking the car away and doing everything needed myself he started finding other things that needed doing to pass the MOT, Like it needs a new wheel brg (it was new, id pressed it in literally a hour before,)The front indicators were the wrong colour of orange ??? Standard Ford unit with new orange bulbs less than a month before, I also fitted a new cat preMOT which was a engine out job without a carlift, Not a problem for me though, im old school, He said it needed replacing. The rear brake shoes, replaced the MOT before, needed doing again apparently. I took my car around the corner to a different garage, told the desk guy what had happened and with out telling his MOT guy, The car saled the MOT, he was amazed how good it was for the age and mileage. I gave the bloke a proper roasting myself infront of two customers, they both got in their cars and left.
An engineer has a degree and designs products, he/she does not repar products. The are called technicians, mechanics, fitters. Please do not confuse the two, engineers do NOT fix things
engineer: "your car is a shitbox and it is fucked, to fix it would cost more than your car is worth" Sales person: "we can fix your car starting from $2.99 come in and we'll take a look at it" Engineer: "I told you to sell this car, why is it back here Sales person "the cost to repair is [6x the cost of car but 2x as much as the car is worth] and the cost to reassemble the car is [1.5x the cost of the car]" Engineer: "seriously, if you want, I'll call up a towie and he'll haul it away, might even give you some cash back, or I can try to organise a buyer" sales person "well, you signed over the car to us but you still have thousands left on the bill, see you in court"
this company took my car for an mot to a garage in nottingham when i live in derby. it passed the mot with no advisories. they had the car from september to beginning of january as they told me it wouldn't start. Never Ever Again.......went for a full service and when they had my car rang me back with a list of problem....the car sounded like a death trap. Bill 700.00 they wanted. Demanded my car back. It had just been MOTd by Honda as well. Was told one of my shock absorbers had issues and a list of other issues. Its impossible to get a service and MOT for the cost their saying. How do they get past the consumer act? It was supposed to stop these cowboys.
I sent my car with them to MOT it. I spent weeks going over it myself making sure it was road worthy, and i knew nothing was wrong with it. They called me up and told me my car had failed because there was a ''sticker" on my window in the field of view. I said thats not possible, i dont put stickers on my car, so i told them to find out what they meant. Turns out it was my dashcam, and they wanted to charge me £30 quid for an hours labour to remove it, bear in mind it was held on by a suction cup. I told them to naff off. They called me back and i ended up paying £14 to have it "removed". Glad i paid that, because they managed to use a THIRD of a tank of fuel in a 1.6l car on a 28 mile round trip! (bare in mind i get a minimum 40 MPG, and its a 52L tank), when it came back, the air con was on full blast, heated seats, main beams, blowers etc and the dashcam was still in the same place.... It would have cost me more to fail it and get them to bring it back, to send it back again. Words of advise for the MOT, your car could be throwing oil all over the place, with zero coolant, no fuel filter, no air box and even no windows in the bloody thing, but if it passes emmisions, and the safety features/structure arent compromised, they CANNOT fail your car, period. As long as the airbags/restraints, braking system, tyres, steering and bodywork are all road worthy, your car will pass.
Sales teams in this country have reached epidemic proportions, yet our government turns a blind eye. The laws against aggressive sales tactics are a joke.
Phew! I guess I was lucky in a sort of strange way. I had booked a service for my car with them but a week after the booking was made I got an email from them asking me to get in touch with them. It turned out that they did not have any garages in my area who could do the pick up and drop off (this was one of the reasons to use them as far as I was concerned). So the booking was cancelled. I then threw a bit of a hissy fit on social media about a company who offers something but then can't provide it. I now have an offer of a 20% reduction should I ever use them in the future. I think it's safe to say their 20% discount will remain untouched :-)
People who repair cars are Mechanics NOT engineers. Engineers are the people that design and build roads some engineers design and build cars. All engineers have professional engineering qualifications. Not belittling car mechanics but your program needs to be honest.
Used this company everything that's been reported is correct. They tried to have me pay for work that wasn't needed. Only when I placed my vehicle with another Garage did I realised just what this company was all about. When I brought the matter to Servicing Stop attention they were adamant that cost was down to Garage and had nothing to do with them. Whole episode left me angry. Never use this company f you don't want to waste money. Use a local garage.
True, but their biggest reason for refusing is that Deborah Meehan would have done due diligence and checks on them which would have exposed them way before this programme did. It also allowed them to say "As on Dragon's Den" and imply they were so great they refused an offer. Premeditated fraud.
They rang me to tell me the car failed it’s MOT and quoted me £450. I said no thanks and got the repair done for £150. Rip of and entice you by giving you a discount on Service or MOT. Following year went to a garage directly paid £35 and MOT was passed.
They have an eternal discount/sales going on. Everytime I went on the site, there were abundance of 'sales, sales, price cuts, discounts, 95% off, 70%...' Daylight rip off. Inflated prices - of course!
I wish the BBC would correctly differentiate between Engineers and Technicians! This clip starts off by claiming Technicians are Engineers, which they aren't. It's the equivalent of a Nurse being called a Doctor (its actually much bigger gulf than this, but it'll do for now), yes they very useful, but they are no where near Engineers.

I have been ripped off by these guys. Had to pay extra to change oil filter and brake fluid. They wanted £36 to change a light bulb !!! I thought all that was part of a full service. I still paid £340 to get my front break pads and discs changed. and still my brake light is coming on. Never again.
I booked my Volvo S40 in with these cowboys for a pre MOT service in 2015. I did in fact only pay £98 for the service however I had to threaten them with the police to have my car returned on the same day. A week later I took my car in for a MOT with my locally trusted garage and they failed the car MOT stating it was too dangerous to drive as the coil springs had split in half and it was tension holiday them in place. Servicing Stop are cowboys!!
Had awful experience with these thieves, they tried to convince me that legally they can't give my car back until they carry out the repairs as it's not safe to be driven. Just rocked up at the garage and took my key back from them . Garages working with them are thieves as fuck

It sickens me that companies like this are still able to continue trading despite being exposed. I have checked on trustpilot and people are still leaving 1* reviews, saying that they have spent over £1k and their car still has issues. Makes me so angry
Who in their right mind uses a sales company to liase with a garage for their car maintenance. Everyone i have known in my lifetime drives to a garage and speaks with the garage mechanic. These suckers are just that , probably the same type of people who fall for phone and internet scams. AKA soft in the head !
Used this lot they called to say I needed engine flush even though they had already drained oil. £ 60 .+ VAT told them no there answer was I would need another oil change if I did not have it done.. Also needed brake fluid change £ 60 fluid changed year before
Unfortunately,just found this video! Had a,supposed full service,which didn't include changing the sparkplugs or the pollen filter, When i complained they offered to do the work if i paid for the labour! Having worked in dealerships,i pointed out they had done an intermediate service but charged for a full one. Having seen this video i am doubting how much they actually did,i didn't get an itemised receipt or the service book stamped. STEER WELL CLEAR OF THIS MOB!
The garage they got to mot and service my motorhome had it for 3and a half weeks even though they couldn't even do mots. Owner used the van to travel to Aberdeen and back racking up over 600 miles. Van was returned in a hell of a state. They stumped up £500 in costs van was not serviced either joke of a garage and company. Garage was Colin's tyres in Rosyth . Don't ever go near them.
What is it? what is it about the general public that fails to understand their is a good quality small guy technician near you everywhere. Stay away from the big knobs. Go look, go talk I would recommend 4 good guys within a ten mile radius of where I am and all are top draw.

tbh i used these and they was not to bad as my service was cheap but they did charge me for diesel as needed a certain one but it was a combi van and regular diesel used but they called me before dropping my van of and come out with loads of stuff needed to it and the guy read it out and it came to about 1400 to fix , i just said i want my van back and not to do the work which they did and cost me bout 160 for a full service..just got to the bit with the oil lol my van was only worth 500 so why pay 1400

Surely, for such a cheap amount that these people are charging, you know that a full service is not a full service! I get a full service on my Polo which is approx. £250 but then I, shown all the parts changed etc. £100/150 will not get these parts changed and only a oil filter and oil! We get what we pay for!
They are useless, put in for service. Quote £800 for unnecessary work on brakes. Didn't want to return car after quote refused. When I got it back handbrake had been slackened off. Took to Cousins garage for MOT and it only needed a clip on CV gaiter replaced which cost £20!
Wow wish I see this before I took my car to servicing Stop. So they sent my car to a garage and charged £600. They said my brakes needed doing and shock absorber needed replacement. Well after taking this to another garage we had been told that actually no serving work had been done. Oil filter not changed air filter not changed brake fluid not changed. Oil not even re newed. Tire pressures not even checked as I did this after receiving the car back and the car presented a warning light for low pressure. So £600 for what? Nothing? Robbed in broad daylight. So after extensive research (missed this rouge traders video) i was prepared to take them to court based on conflicting reports and evidence I had obtained to prove no work had been carried out. I received a full refund of £600. They initially offered around £400 return and then was cheeky to offer there service AGAIN! 🤣 Joke! Yeh offer Rejected court papers ready....£600 returned. Will never ever ever use such a service again. Trading standards need to shut these down. They are putting peoples lives at risk. Picture a family in a car husband wife and children and a new born. Thinking a great service was done by servicing stop then all of a sudden a will spring snaps because shock absorber gives way and then engine failure. I sent my car with them to MOT it. I spent weeks going over it myself making sure it was road worthy, and i knew nothing was wrong with it. They called me up and told me my car had failed because there was a ''sticker" on my window in the field of view. I said thats not possible, i dont put stickers on my car, so i told them to find out what they meant. Turns out it was my dashcam, and they wanted to charge me £30 quid for an hours labour to remove it, bear in mind it was held on by a suction cup. I told them to naff off. They called me back and i ended up paying £14 to have it "removed". Glad i paid that, because they managed to use a THIRD of a tank of fuel in a 1.6l car on a 28 mile round trip! (bare in mind i get a minimum 40 MPG, and its a 52L tank), when it came back, the air con was on full blast, heated seats, main beams, blowers etc and the dashcam was still in the same place.... It would have cost me more to fail it and get them to bring it back, to send it back again. Words of advise for the MOT, your car could be throwing oil all over the place, with zero coolant, no fuel filter, no air box and even no windows in the bloody thing, but if it passes emmisions, and the safety features/structure arent compromised, they CANNOT fail your car, period. As long as the airbags/restraints, braking system, tyres, steering and bodywork are all road worthy, your car will pass.
Sounds like the door hinges at 16.20 need a service for a start .

Phew! I guess I was lucky in a sort of strange way. I had booked a service for my car with them but a week after the booking was made I got an email from them asking me to get in touch with them. It turned out that they did not have any garages in my area who could do the pick up and drop off (this was one of the reasons to use them as far as I was concerned). So the booking was cancelled. I then threw a bit of a hissy fit on social media about a company who offers something but then can't provide it. I now have an offer of a 20% reduction should I ever use them in the future. I think it's safe to say their 20% discount will remain untouched :-)
People who repair cars are Mechanics NOT engineers. Engineers are the people that design and build roads some engineers design and build cars. All engineers have professional engineering qualifications. Not belittling car mechanics but your program needs to be honest.

Used this company everything that's been reported is correct. They tried to have me pay for work that wasn't needed. Only when I placed my vehicle with another Garage did I realised just what this company was all about. When I brought the matter to Servicing Stop attention they were adamant that cost was down to Garage and had nothing to do with them. Whole episode left me angry. Never use this company f you don't want to waste money. Use a local garage.
I'm glad they never bothered to come and collect my car now.
That receptionist was quite scary.

True, but their biggest reason for refusing is that Deborah Meehan would have done due diligence and checks on them which would have exposed them way before this programme did. It also allowed them to say "As on Dragon's Den" and imply they were so great they refused an offer. Premeditated fraud.
They rang me to tell me the car failed it’s MOT and quoted me £450. I said no thanks and got the repair done for £150. Rip of and entice you by giving you a discount on Service or MOT. Following year went to a garage directly paid £35 and MOT was passed.
Moral of the story "Always stick with your local garage".
They have an eternal discount/sales going on. Everytime I went on the site, there were abundance of 'sales, sales, price cuts, discounts, 95% off, 70%...' Daylight rip off. Inflated prices - of course!
I wish the BBC would correctly differentiate between Engineers and Technicians! This clip starts off by claiming Technicians are Engineers, which they aren't. It's the equivalent of a Nurse being called a Doctor (its actually much bigger gulf than this, but it'll do for now), yes they very useful, but they are no where near Engineers.
"difference between an engineer and a salesman". More like the difference between a technician and a salesman. Engineers design and conceptualise systems, the bloke who comes round to fix your boiler or fridge is not an engineer.
I have been ripped off by these guys. Had to pay extra to change oil filter and brake fluid. They wanted £36 to change a light bulb !!! I thought all that was part of a full service. I still paid £340 to get my front break pads and discs changed. and still my brake light is coming on. Never again.

I booked my Volvo S40 in with these cowboys for a pre MOT service in 2015. I did in fact only pay £98 for the service however I had to threaten them with the police to have my car returned on the same day. A week later I took my car in for a MOT with my locally trusted garage and they failed the car MOT stating it was too dangerous to drive as the coil springs had split in half and it was tension holiday them in place. Servicing Stop are cowboys!!
Had awful experience with these thieves, they tried to convince me that legally they can't give my car back until they carry out the repairs as it's not safe to be driven. Just rocked up at the garage and took my key back from them . Garages working with them are thieves as fuck

It sickens me that companies like this are still able to continue trading despite being exposed. I have checked on trustpilot and people are still leaving 1* reviews, saying that they have spent over £1k and their car still has issues. Makes me so angry
Who in their right mind uses a sales company to liase with a garage for their car maintenance. Everyone i have known in my lifetime drives to a garage and speaks with the garage mechanic. These suckers are just that , probably the same type of people who fall for phone and internet scams. AKA soft in the head !
Used this lot they called to say I needed engine flush even though they had already drained oil. £ 60 .+ VAT told them no there answer was I would need another oil change if I did not have it done.. Also needed brake fluid change £ 60 fluid changed year before

Had a,supposed full service,which didn't include changing the sparkplugs or the pollen filter, When i complained they offered to do the work if i paid for the labour!
Having worked in dealerships,i pointed out they had done an intermediate service but charged for a full one.
Having seen this video i am doubting how much they actually did,i didn't get an itemised receipt or the service book stamped.

The garage they got to mot and service my motorhome had it for 3and a half weeks even though they couldn't even do mots. Owner used the van to travel to Aberdeen and back racking up over 600 miles. Van was returned in a hell of a state. They stumped up £500 in costs van was not serviced either joke of a garage and company. Garage was Colin's tyres in Rosyth . Don't ever go near them.

These programs are all well and good at so called exposing the crooks but do these crooks give the stolen money back? NO .. Yeh thought so, this scheme was so open to this kind of abuse just giving the motor trade an even badder rep than its already had hanging round its neck forever , sadly I am in the repair side of this trade hence my concern.
Rip off yes but surely anyone with any sense would know that if you add a middle man it is going to bump the price up straight away.
tbh i used these and they was not to bad as my service was cheap but they did charge me for diesel as needed a certain one but it was a combi van and regular diesel used but they called me before dropping my van of and come out with loads of stuff needed to it and the guy read it out and it came to about 1400 to fix , i just said i want my van back and not to do the work which they did and cost me bout 160 for a full service..just got to the bit with the oil lol my van was only worth 500 so why pay 1400
I booked in a service with them,; they didn't carry out the work they advised, damaged my car in the process and \i have had faults ever since when prior to them touching it, I had n issues

adam bryant You have to keep pushing them as they will attempt to fob you off and pass you from pillar to post with the aim of getting to to take a hit and give up.
It has been a year and they still have not rectified the issue. I will be taking them to the small claims court

Surely, for such a cheap amount that these people are charging, you know that a full service is not a full service! I get a full service on my Polo which is approx. £250 but then I, shown all the parts changed etc. £100/150 will not get these parts changed and only a oil filter and oil! We get what we pay for!
What parts are you paying for? £100 should easily cover parts for a main service.

They are useless, put in for service. Quote £800 for unnecessary work on brakes. Didn't want to return car after quote refused. When I got it back handbrake had been slackened off. Took to Cousins garage for MOT and it only needed a clip on CV gaiter replaced which cost £20!

Wow wish I see this before I took my car to servicing Stop. So they sent my car to a garage and charged £600. They said my brakes needed doing and shock absorber needed replacement. Well after taking this to another garage we had been told that actually no serving work had been done. Oil filter not changed air filter not changed brake fluid not changed. Oil not even re newed. Tire pressures not even checked as I did this after receiving the car back and the car presented a warning light for low pressure. So £600 for what? Nothing? Robbed in broad daylight.
So after extensive research (missed this rouge traders video) i was prepared to take them to court based on conflicting reports and evidence I had obtained to prove no work had been carried out. I received a full refund of £600. They initially offered around £400 return and then was cheeky to offer there service AGAIN! 🤣 Joke! Yeh offer Rejected court papers ready....£600 returned. Will never ever ever use such a service again. Trading standards need to shut these down. They are putting peoples lives at risk. Picture a family in a car husband wife and children and a new born. Thinking a great service was done by servicing stop then all of a sudden a will spring snaps because shock absorber gives way and then engine failure. Reported news later that day, a family die in a tragic accident. SERVICING STOP 🛑 STOP ✋🏻THINK DONT PUT YOUR LIFE IN THE HADNS OF THESE PEOPLE 🛑
