I'm not sure why the focus would be on Conservative support in Scotland? They haven't been a contender in Scotland for a long time. The story here is SNP loss, surely? Labour are winning by default throughout the whole of the UK because of the first past the post system.

The reason through history there has been a change in economic model every 40 or so years.
The petrodollar model has been going since the early 70's, it is tired. The few individuals who have gained have been so successful they wont let go.
The populace wants change, they are forced to tyranny.

I think you have the Scottish perspective wrong. We have always been a protest vote since New Labour moved to the centre. In England the electorate was wrong about Brexit, wrong about the Tories. In Scotland the Indy vote seems like the more correct choice in 2014, the Nation was right about Brexit and right about the Tories. In England there may be apathy because the electorate was wrong but in Scotland the Indy movement has been right. Some misguided non thinkers may vote Labour this time but I think you will be surprised at the size of the Indy vote. The only place I hear positive news about Labour is on the BBC. No one who has spent any time in Scotland keeping up with current events or reflecting over the last ten years will vote
For a Union party. Alba has much to say but it is not their turn yet

The scottish vote for a westmonster seat is quite pointless, for towards democracy as scots are outnumbered and have no say whatsoever in westmonster.
The real votes will be in the holyrood elections in 2026, when the independence parties will be out in numbers.
Westmonster is no friend to Scotland and never have.
Labour were the ppls choice before the snp and gave Scotland NOTHING.
And labour in Scotland again in a centre right party will give Scotland nothing again but plundering, just like wilson and blairites.
Just like the GB energy joke...its just more plundering of scotlands assets.
And anyone who thinks different is kidding themselves.

TBF a lot of the seats the Tories have lost over the years in Scotland have been as a result of boundary changes. Where rural seats have been merged into towns and cities, but since the times of Thatcher it's been perceived by those in Scotland that the way they vote doesn't matter. As the way people vote in the south of England is ultimately what decides elections.

If any population is alive to the possibilities of tactical voting, it’s the Scots. I live just south of the constituency you speak of, with our eldest daughter living there. The vastness of the tactical voting campaign has reached the ears and eyes of everyone up here. And it has provided voters with a rational response to the corruption of both the Tories AND the SNP. Where the Tories are not an issue in Scotland, the SNP is far more vulnerable to Labour. But on the east coast, where the Tories have done pretty well, traditionally, people have never had a stronger reason to vote for the leading opponent, SNP.
I have cast my tactical vote, against the Tories and for a party I do not believe in, but which I do believe will spend the next parliament cleaning out its stalls. They do have many excellent policies, but I am a unionist at heart. Could I be anything other, as an Englishman living in Scotland, with a Scottish wife? We have every reason to expect vast improvements in the probity of the SNP in the future as they have to accept that it is the stink of corruption that has done them the most harm of late.
Yet they remain the main opponent to beat the cons in my constituency.

I think you are confusing the SNP with the independence movement. The reason SNP vote share will drop is because the SNP have done nothing about independence since the 2016 Brexit referendum despite making promise after promise. People in Scotland want and deserve the choice of their politics. The SNP have failed their supporters by kowtowing to the Tory's.

The SNP vote is going down in this election because they are almost hated as much as the Tories. The SNP are almost as incompetent and corrupt as the Tories
Many people in Scotland (Inc myself) will be voting tactically to punish SNP
I'm not fundamentally against independence but the SNP have shown themselves to be a single issue party. If they can't govern devo then god help us if they had their hands on all of the levers of power
I also worry about the practicality of independence. The SNP wants to get in the EU (which I do) but what would the situation be if rUK was still out? We would then have a hard border between Scotland and England and England is our biggest trading partner
The SNPs stance on the nuclear deterrent also worries me as they would be quite happy doing a ROI and being neutral. That would play right into Putin's hands
The SNP and Reform seem like a couple of kids who don't want to share their sweets. In this world we have to work together not retreat into isolated pockets and wish that the world would go away.
