I'm not a rockets or Harden fan but I AM a very nuetral observer. I believe people are really underestimating how good Harden actually is and neither him or westbrook are "ball hogs" so-to-speak. They're players that feed off of each other and when they build a rythm with the team and everybody does their part, they'll each make all their shots and pass the ball. Harden only takes more shots because it's D' Antoni's style of play. And Westbrook was literally the only good player in OkC and had to do everything because his team was weak. A lot of naive fans called Kobe a ball hog but at the end of the day how did that all turn out? That's right, 5 titles. Most of these so called fans, don't look at the big picture. Remember last year when the Rockets almost beat the Warriors in 7 because they all did their part. Gordon and Ariza were also a huge part in that. It's too bad Ariza left though

Well stated. You actually are one of the few who gets it instead of automatically hating as the majority do. This team was already dangerous and this move may put them on the top. I know some may laugh but the Rockets are a top 3 team to win it all. Their nemesis the Warriors won't be the same with KD gone, Klay injured and losing key role players. The window is still open for them to win a title. Harden and Westbrook will pair well with each other. I expect both players to be motivated to take their game to the next level for various reasons.

Blaming dantoni style for harden shot selection is James fault, James is great in the season but when playoffs start when you can prepare for a player in a series you will see the adjustment and the flaws in players games, James needs to work on a post and face up game near the paint, Russ is a good pickup but both need to adjust to each other and play maybe they'll have a shot but rockets still need a legit center or power forward, Steven Adams would have been perfect

Yep , the Miami duo had much better bball IQ. Westbrook has shown to not have this quality. He plays harder than anyone buy not smarter. In any sense they are both heavily iso type players and it may be difficult for both of them to change their style of play. Both of them are guards who also rely on picknroll with clint/steve to get their assists. This will take the other guard out of the play especially Westbrook with his poor three point shooting.

Neither Kobe, Shaq, nor D-Wade ever had a usage rate as high as Harden & Westbrook and none of those guys were PGs. The point is someone is going to make a significant adjustment to how they played b-ball last year. IMO the obvious answer is Harden as he played the 1st half of his career off-ball anyways and is a way better shooter than Russ, but he’s been the best offensive PG in NBA history the past 3 years and who knows if he’s willing to change at this point.

    • @taxseizn1463

Why is Russell Westbrook getting such a Bad Rap, when he is perhaps the Best Point Guard in the NBA? The Bro, Get his own Rebounds, he Dishes and Pitches the Ball to Teammates and he Scores the Ball. James Harden will be the First Option, so will Russell Westbrook Brook because if he is Guarded by Mismatches, he is gonna score the Ball. But the Coaching is Gonna be Critical; I can't wait to see what Mike D'Antoni will do with these 2 Brothers on the Hardwood. It is a Better Duo, than Harden and Chris Paul. Houston will be more Fun to Watch!

R2Mike2 Westbrook is a better defender than Steph but Westbrook still isn’t a good defender and Steph is a better and far more efficient scorer, a better ball handler, and doesn’t need an historically high usage rate to drop 30+ on a team. Also, Steph’s off ball presence creates open shots for his teammates, something Russ can’t do because he CANT SHOOT FOR SHIT

@Lil Wooo this year with Paul, he didn't mind sharing the ball. I really don't see the problem with them playing together. Say whatever you want but Russ is a huge upgrade to Paul. He is better at pretty much everything except for 3s.

I’d love to see a team use the guard-guard pick and roll more. There’s so many teams letting star guards rest off ball. James Harden and Russel Westbrook could genuinely become one of the best pick and roll duos I think.
Bro maybe I’m high rn but this sounds like a really good idea

Russ and Harden are going to add longevity to each other's career now. A lot of pick n rolls with dimes to the weakside will take away the beatings in the paint they were forced to endure.

Westbrook shooting percentage especially 3s will not work in the current system so dantoni will have to change the whole offense.
