  • In this video I use the Bobcat Forestry Mulcher to mow down years of growth on the Southeast end of the property. I'm hoping to make a nice trail around the entirety of the property that will be good for ATV rides and also act as a firebreak since we have hundreds of acres surrounding the South of the property.

You need to run that skid steer at wide open throttle to get the best efficiency and productivity out of your machine

It definitely likes it better when it's wide open! Thanks!

How do you know where the property lines are? Do you fence off homestead and rural areas? How do you settle neighbour disputes with land? As a British resident we tend to have fences

We had it surveyed so there are corner pins. Some parts have fences but not all.

I like it better from outside the machine see elevations better and destruction inside is ok but less I think I would have a roll of pink tape with me to put on fence

Thanks for the feedback! Funny you say that, we actually did use pink tape when we first got the property and it worked really well. The wire fence can blend in with the brush easily. We definitely need to do it again on these new sections. Hitting it with the mulcher is not fun!

You need to rev up the mulching machine so it don't bog down open it up it will cut better

Thanks for the tip! The foot pedal throttle definitely helps keep it happy. The more I use it the less I find myself clogging it up.

What part of the country are you in? I have all the same invasives and junk in southcentral pa. The tough curve trunked shrub early in the video, mixed with the Olive, is Japanese Barberry. Tough stuff and it takes over. Once it's cut to the ground, keep mowing it and the roots will lose their energy.

We are in Indiana. Thanks for the pointer on the Barberry and thanks for watching!

I don't like how those hydraulic lines are in the open on the deck of your machine there's got to be some way of protecting them just a suggestion. When you said the pucker moment i was in your shoes haha that looks fun to learn but first need to know how to use it safety first and know your machine . Larry

Yeah they are pretty exposed. I've been through some thick stuff and even vines and so far it hasnt been an issue. I wish they were protected more though, just in case. But the arms have to be able to raise really high and lower too.
