"How come no one has thought of this before?" I mean, it could have something to do with the fact that it required you to walk up to the enemy spawn, carrying a building, before setting it up and sentry jumping up to the high ground without being killed.
I didn't even know that spot was there. But why would you look? I'm not in the habit of spawn camping, and there's usually no one to shoot or heal there. But imagine if one team or the other just decided to put A-posers there instead.
I did this years and years ago when the map first came out. Succeeded pretty well with it the one time, mildly the 2nd time, then never felt obligated to do it again as it's a huge pain in the ass. I'm not a TH-camr so felt no need to record it. Plus I've played the game for so long I honestly didn't feel a random goofy sentry spot was an interesting enough experience to document. There's tons of weird sg spots I've more or less discovered/seen others use over the years. These guys prove though that I was wrong, though their commentary & excitement is half of the video's charm, not just the sg spot.
The Eureka effect would've been even better. Grab a Frontier Justice, put the teleporter up there and your sentry somewhere else, and just crit people in spawn. And without the entrance and just the Eureka, they'll never hear or see anything. I think I'll actually try that now
Optimized: Build entrance and dispenser at spawn Run to spot Bullet jump Rescue ranger your sentry up Build exit Eureka effect or kill bind back to spawn Switch to jag
@@commitfelonyfeline While Jag repairs less, it also swings faster. It still repairs less in total, but it allows you to begin repairs again faster after the sentry takes a large amount of damage (you may still be waiting to swing again with a normal wrench as they finish it off). It's worse for long term tanking against consistent damage, but the speed of repairing again saves the sentry surprisingly often.
If you get a level one up you can bullet jump with the wrangler to get up there without hauling a sentry the whole way. The eureka effect is great for resupplying with metal. The jag boosting a sentry deploys faster than a non boosted mini sentry, making the setup even easier.
The spot probably would've lasted longer if you used the Eureka Effect or Rescue Ranger. That way you only need to build the exit and teleport to it using the wrench without having the teleporter be as visible (since no entrance = no glow and the engi doesn't radiate teleporter particles when you teleport with the wrench). The Rescue Ranger would help in bring the sentry up with you after you sentry-jump so that you can buy some time while setting up and upgrading the teleporter exit. And lastly, keep the exit as far away from your other buildings as possible so that it doesn't absorb as much splash damage and get destroyed with your other buildings.
So most of the time you didnt successfully keep the sentry up but you held down half the enemy team dealing with you so they got rolled on the point anyway
It'd be way easier to pull off if you used the Eureka Effect and Rescue Ranger Then swapping to Short Circuit once you've used the Wrangler to get up there to ruin the lives of the demos and soldiers
Kinda surprised that you didn't go with the Jag at first, for the initial setup of this strategy. Build faster, build smarter. Then again, at least you got around to it eventually.
I love how you actually died because of southern hospitalitys fire damage stat, you had 10 hp and took damage 5 by 5 instead if the usual 4 and died beside the medkit
another good strategy is to use the gunslinger to bullet jump up there much faster, then build your teleporter, then head back to spawn where you can switch to a wrench to build a level 3 sentry.
I've done this when the map first came out years and years ago, though never felt the need to record it. There's a ton of weird sg spots I've discovered/seen others use over the years but didn't feel a cool unusual sg location was worthy enough of a vid. I mean, you used to be able to build in blu spawn on Upward as Red- that's a vid-worthy location to me & several people did document this. However these guys proved me wrong as I said in another comment, though their commentary definitely adds to this video's appeal. I did this pretty successfully once, and somewhat successfully a 2nd.time, then never felt obligated to do it again as it's a huge pain. To be fair though you're right, while I don't play KoTH much anymore I am surprised I hadn't seen more people try to do this. Maybe it's like you said, because it's hard to pull off. You have to be both persistent and lucky, basically.
"How come no one has thought of this before?"
I mean, it could have something to do with the fact that it required you to walk up to the enemy spawn, carrying a building, before setting it up and sentry jumping up to the high ground without being killed.
Or it could've just been a Soldier/Demoman that just casually jumped there and thought if he can place a sentry there
The fact that I haven't seen anyone even rocket jump up there is surprising. Not every day you're made aware of a new spot on a map.
I didn't even know that spot was there. But why would you look? I'm not in the habit of spawn camping, and there's usually no one to shoot or heal there. But imagine if one team or the other just decided to put A-posers there instead.

Minis might be the best thing to use to get a tele there in the first place, then switch to the eureka afterwards
This is actually a better idea

many words
The only problem of this spot is that you have to get past the frontlines. People usually never has a medic helping them.

The fish scout tho

Could you make that with a short circuit jump? If so, then you can protect your sentry up there.
You csn
you should've used the short circuit after getting set up it would've helped against those pesky demomen

The soldier on the bumper car was priceless
Well I know what I'm doing during the truce on the Halloween version on this map from now on.

"the best sentry spot"
*Literally just a montage of how bad the spot is and how easy it is to die in it*
You should have used the rescue ranger to repair your Sentries in a safe spot
I have never, not even once, seen this spot used. Bravo
I love this.
This is the kind of stupid stuff that Jerma and Star would have found back in the day.
what are the implications of a world where sentries are almost human, but not given full human rights
The other side of the "Troll Scouts" video lol.
I am sure Uncle Dade already did that tbh, just don't remember the name of the video, i think it was one of the ninjaneer..

Did that Soldier at the end die? This is an important question.

Shouldve used the Rescue Ranger and Eureka Effect
If you use the Rescue Ranger u can also take up ur sentry instead of destroying it as well!
Most high risk high reward thing in all of TF2

I have to be 100% honest, mate you sound exactly like Elvis The Alien and that's awesome
