Join me for this special festive video, where I prepare and cook Christmas dinner for one on narrowboat Aslan.
Before beginning cooking though, I read from a couple of Christmas cards sent to me by viewers.
As well as cooking, I also attempt a musical interlude on guitar, with mixed results - well you (repeatedly) asked for it. 🤭
Also, seeing as it's the time of 'good cheer', I enjoy a suprisingly delicious bottle of red wine, which goes down well.

Ode to Kevin
We’ve watched Kevin and Aslan for many a year.
His Dry wit and sarcasm have brought us much cheer.
His cooking prowess and occasional notes on guitar,
Have brought fame and notoriety - he’s going to be a star !
It seems others agree. He has caused much mirth,
When we found out at last how much he was worth 😊
We’ve watched him on TH-cam and Amazon Prime on the telly.
There’s only one Country House Gent aka. Kevin Shelley.
We’ve watched Alan and David, even the Foxes impressed.
Yes there are boat Tubers a-plenty, but Kevin is best.
To Kevin I say, ‘Stay safe’ and ‘thanks’ for keeping me sane,
‘Happy Christmas’! ‘Bring back normality’ and ... ‘Can’t wait to see you again !’

I dislike almost ALL green vegetables and I certainly don’t like mushrooms.
A dark ale would not be my choice and an Americano I would love, but a latte … no thank you.
I prefer Chinese to Indian and I would always use my vote.
A motorbike would probably be the last thing on this Earth I would buy, and I am no fan of Rush
- though to be honest I have to say, I’ve never really listened to them play
… and to top it all, my wife is useless with an angle grinder, BUT I LOVE those Travels by Narrowboat with that bloke, Country House Gent

I've dealt with the last two years by embracing the joy, peace and quiet. I watch lots of sailors on you tube , but don't watch television or listen to the news on the radio and couldn't be happier😊

Bon Appetit Kevin, great cooking and it made me feel very hungry. Now we are coming up to Christmas 2023 and some here in South Africa have your sort of traditional Christmas dinner, on what is the middle of our summer - mad for a jaded on Cornish man and ex-live aboard UK narrow boater! But I wish you many more Christmases and safe and happy living and cruising on the UK canals.

We'll done Kevin I am a fair bit older than yourself 67 but was divorced 5years ago and have always loved to watch your videos both on the boat and with the bikes. They have helped me more than I can say this is the first time I've answered or commented on anything to do with TH-cam or Any thing similar.ithink you have got a great outlook on life and looking back to your early vids when you was going through your problems and looking for a boat you now look more content than ever

One of the best meals I have eaten was while camping and accompanied by a not particularly expensive magnum of Merlot.
Really doesn't matter what the rest of the world is doing when you can sit down to a lovely home cooked meal.
I'm not sure how anyone can enjoy sprouts but maybe that's just me.

Missed a trick Kevin, score the pork rind with a box knife and rub salt in, this gives super crackling add cloves or a bit of honey or juniper berries if you like.
