I have about 60 hours in a Turbo Arrow IV. Wonderfull plane, all the great characteristics of the Cherokee with an extra 20 knots.

I did my complex in an Arrow IV. Had no issues with low-speed control or losing tail authority on landing. Don't fly it like a non-T PA28 (which is what I fly now) and it behaves quite nicely.

I've flown the Arrow II, III and IV and loved them all. They were my first complex and I took most of my instrument, commercial and CFI training in them. Good solid machines all.

I went down to Bunbury to get my CSU endorsement in a 182. When I got there I was greeted with the news “the 182 is broken, you’re getting a retract thrown in!” and did it in one of these.
One of these would be high on the list if I couldn’t get away with hiring my Comanches anymore and had to purchase.

Sounds like a great deal! The Arrows are a solid performer - the Comanche is just nicer though

At 1:55 the "Hershey Bar" wing is referring to the constant chord wing, not the tapered wing found on the III and IV. I loved the Arrow III, I did not love the T tail of the IV which tends to quit flying all at once on rollout, whacking your nosewheel into the ground. Piper agreed that their form-over-function experiment was a failure, and when the Arrow was later put back into production by New Piper, they returned to a conventional tail.
The position of the tach and MP where your knee always blocks them is horrible however, they did the same thing in the Seminole.

      Thanks for the info!
We’re aware she’s a tapered-wing, unfortunately the editing lined up on a shot of the wing as the monologue mentioned the Hershey wing on the older models. Oops!

That's a high quality video, my friend! Very well done! I'm a 140 driver, and while I love it, I would love to step up to this!

Flew the III and IV and didn't like the take-off / rotating dynamics of the IV. Felt like it needed to be 'ripped' from the runway. The T-Tail does look nice but - if only for safety reasons - I'd take an Arrow III any day. There are reasons Piper cancelled the IV and started reselling the III.

Yeah agreed! The III is the best one you can get

Think of an Arrow II with 50HP extra. It is a lot of fun.

I've owned my T-ArrowIV for 15 year and have around 900 hours in it. Took my commercial and instructor checkrides in it. Show me a pilot who says that the T tail doesn't fly right and I'll show you poor technique.

Great aircraft! Good to hear some positive feedback about them. So much negativity out there

THe school I fly from has an arrow IV with the T-tail. Is the one you are flying feel significantly heavier than a warrior or archer? The one I get to fly does. While nothing feels wrong, and it just passed it's anual... I find it hard to believe that it just has that much of a different feel. (Even in the ground handling) I would love your input on that.

Yeah got to admit, the T Tail Lance (our next video) is the same too. Weird/heavy feeling

I have 1987 Archer, the slower brother. By the way that’s a tapered wing. It is a bit confusing at the beginning of the video.

Archers are great! Yeah the shot of the wing coincided with him talking about the slab wing of the earlier models unfortunately

    "...period correct avionics..." 😂😂
I did most of my CPL in a mix of Arrow models, they are a great aeroplane.

Nice video, just go easy on handling the prop. You mentioned a limp. This is not likely age-related. Perhaps the airframe is bent or the engine is losing power. Your wing is tapered, not the classic Hershey bar.

    • @DeadstickAdventures
      @DeadstickAdventures  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

We believe it’s a combination of a mildly bent airframe from decades of training coupled with an older engine!

@@DeadstickAdventuresIt might be worth checking the flight control rigging. Adjustments on flaps and ailerons often gain a few knots for little cost.
