  • I recorded this a while before Tana was in Early Access as a response to a question in their Slack community - I thought I'd share it more widely to give you a basically unedited, live view in how to think about modelling an area of your life to put it into Tana.
Because it's "live", it runs a bit longer than other videos - do watch at 2x speed if necessary! 😁

A tip for those watching this later is to use shift + arrowdown to select many nodes, then ctrl+k to open command line and do `#class` to add the tag to all selected elements at once. Many of the commands works on selections.

When querying for the classes, you could even add it to the supertag #Concentration and for the Concentration field add PARENT and the search node would be updated for each individual concentration with its corresponding classes.

Showing me all these fancy moves while I am waiting in invitation purgatory is cruel! So cruel!
(Also, keep these videos coming. I'm already creating an awesome workflow in my head.)

Can you please explain why did you set up the professors as reference ?
and how did that happen? there is no indication of a key shortcut that was pressed

Great video. Small technical query. Do you know why the tag “professor” was shown after one of the professors but not the other one. You created tags the same way. From within each node.

One is an inline reference, which you would usually use with text, like "I met with " today. But it's just on its own now. Heather is the other professor is a direct reference. So you may ask why it was like this, -- it was probably just because Lukas hit space-bar after creating the node. That is since changed, it works differently now so should be harder to make an inline ref on its own like this unless you want it. :)
