i compress a lot of my videos, 640 x 480 with a lean economy video bit rate of 500 to 700 kbps, most people record youtube videos with their camera on phone and have no idea how high the video bit rate is, now even for low end phones its over 10 mbps for video bit rate for HD, wich means 6 to 10 mb per minute of video for some 1280 x 720 videos, youtube settings to drop resolution helps some but even better when a uploader compresses video before and upload, i have some raw video uploads of 640 x 480 and 1920 x 1080 for a public data consumption test leaving the high video bit rates in the videos, all a person has to do is to click youtube video resolution settings as high as it will go for the video test, if a person sets videos for 240p then the test would have false readings of lower data, unless test video of 320 x 240 was uploaded, another data consumption test is super video compression of a 176 x 144 video file, on these uploads increasing video bit rate creates more data but picture gets no better sometimes even if source file was converted from a HD video source, youtube expands video at a default setting for small videos, unless recorded source file adds in the black sides of video like on a ps3 game system setting a 176 x 144 to original sides but having black sides around the tiny video, i may upload a video like that also for a test to see how that compares to my other 30 second videos for data testing, when i upload a video for testing i include the source file details so i can compare to how youtube handles the video and how a data plan responds to data including back ground data wich i usually leave on during a test, others may turn it off to test video though, but as you did i can see what back ground data is in my apps, also on my older collectible phones i disable apps temporarily to boost ram of at least 100 mb to function good on video web sites like youtube, in my testing of android phones once you fall under 100 mb or further you may have freeze ups, ram is important even if its a octacore processor......as far as 4k its harder on processors, ram, bandwidth, data plans , broadcasting, we are not there yet to shove a elephant down a mouse size digital hole LOL, but compression is small size in a big wide digital pipeline, easy on all electronics it touches from source to destination and still compatible with older and even outdated electronics
Because you connected to a video stream and in a sense downloaded the comment, you still used data but not as much as if you had watched the entire thing.

@@lolapoente6216 For starters, no TH-cam, no Netflix, no streaming music or video of any kind. Go into the menu on your phone and take a note of the data volume level you are at. Better yet , some phone have a re-settable feature like a trip odometer in a car. You can also set warning levels and shut off levels.

You can't did you use wifi or are you using the daily 1gb/2gb data
Also use of data is permanent and cannot be reversed
