    Does they bill that 3$ every month or the full amount for say 2 years as you get the subscription??

      If you get a monthly subscription, they bill monthly. If you get a 2 year subscription, they bill you for the subscription up front.

    Installed NordVPN on firestick. Logged into their app and successfully connected. The Nord app showed my new IP Address, and I double-checked using findmyip sites in silk browser and those showed my new IP address as well. But when I check my IP in system info from within Kodi, it shows my unmasked original IP address. Kodi is the main reason I got a vpn. I cleared my cache and tried multiple servers. Any ideas?

    I have NordVPN on my PC, but other than the on/off switch being on and green, I don't see anything where it says protected. Should I just trust that the on/off switch being at the on position is as good an indicator that my PC is protected? It sounds like a dumb question, but in electronics a switch turned on doesn't always mean that it's...well on; not like a wall switch, thanks.

    • @vpnMentor
      @vpnMentor  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Luis! Good question :) First, you should have a small pop up confirming you are connected: this means you are protected. But if you want to make sure your IP is really hidden, just go here www.vpnmentor.com/tools/ipinfo/ and check if your IP changed :D

    @vpnMentor, Andy, I have a slow internet connection, given that the VPN will slow it down even more, should I even bother getting the VPN? My ping is 24ms, download is 15.50 mbps, upload is 1.89mbps.

      You can't go wrong with either aince they have dedicated torrenting servers. CyberGhost is a little less expensive, but still has great security features, so I'd personally go with that one

    I'm not a fan! I was using CyberGhost, but wanted more protection especially webRTC. It was so slow and it affected my wifi, and disconnected me. As for customer service, I am still waiting several days now, to hear back from them. I don't see why they are so popular. I may try PIA next, to see how it works for me. Also they no longer take pay pal. I know this is 2 years ago, but this is what I see with the 2019 latest version.

  • @mss627
    @mss627 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I never saw the option for streaming, security, P2P and the like. It simply connected me to the nearest available server. I also couldn't help noticing a significant loss of downloading speed and frequent network disconnects. I tried running speed test with and without Nord enabled. I can't even connect to the site when NordVPN is on. So far I'm not very impressed.

    • @vpnMentor
      @vpnMentor  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nord has updated their VPN client since we made this video. You can find the specialty servers like P2P on the right hand side just above where it says "All Countries."
      As far as it continuously disconnecting and poor speeds you should check with NordVPN support, they are usually really good with solving these issues.

    • @craiga7652

      And, here the next day, I emailed them asking to cancel my subscription. You have to email them and deal with someone in person to cancel. When buying it, you can do it in two minutes online. I used NordVPN until they were unable to resolve my issues with viewing BT Sport from their UK server. After several tweaks suggested by NordVPN that did not work, I switched to PureVPN (for less cost) and had immediate success in viewing BT Sport from their UK server. NordVPN has not responded to my request for a refund. Very poor customer experience.

    I’m abit of a noob to all this. So if vpn up on my Mac will it just work automatically on my other devices such as iptv on my smart tv?

    • @vpnMentor
      @vpnMentor  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Byron, Welcome to the world of VPN!
      The VPN won't configure automatically to your other devices, you'll have to configure each one. If you're using NordVPN, you're allowed to have up to 6 devices connected simultaneously. As far as the specifics of to connect your IPTV and smartTV your best bet is talk with the NordVPN support staff and they'll be able to walk you through the process.
      If you could take a few minutes and write a review about your experience so far with your VPN, our community would really appreciate it. - www.vpnmentor.com/reviews/nordvpn/

    • @bweezy7801
      @bweezy7801 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      vpnMentor this is confusing stuff so I’m chatting with the nordvpn support and they’re saying I can’t set it up because I have a smart tv and not an android but yet I can still use iptv on my smart tv does that make sense? Uhhh I give up 😩

    • @vpnMentor
      @vpnMentor  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Don't give up just yet. I quickly checked the NordVPN FAQ page and it says that in order to connect to a SmartTV you'll need to set up the VPN on your router, and that will automatically work on your other devices.
      In your I[TV settings is there a VPN configuration section, that's where you would put in your VPN provider, username/password.

    Hi, im looking for the fastest with a lot of server in the US. but Nordvpn is very slow in here. what vpn do you think is best in the philippines?

    • @vpnMentor
      @vpnMentor  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      NordVPN keep adding servers all the time, so we see they improve speed actually. But if it isn't fast enough for you, I would recommend trying the first from this list of fastest VPNs www.vpnmentor.com/blog/the-fastest-vpns-we-actually-tested-them/

    • @mehnartvivas9789
      @mehnartvivas9789 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      by any chance do you know how many US servers does ExpressVPN has? nordvpn has like more than a thousand it is what i need but its so slow here.

    • @vpnMentor
      @vpnMentor  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Actually last time I checked Nord had 860, but they grow fast so this can change. Express Also have more than 1000 but honestly this just part of the picture. If both have 1000 servers and Express have X2 more users, you'll actually see Nord being much faster. And almost non of the VPNs share their user-base numbers. If you are looking for the fastest VPN, yes, Express today is that one, and of course they put special attention to the U.S. In any case, they have 30 days money back policy so there is zero risk in testing them out. Check here how quick the refund process is (the annoying part is that they force you to use the chat, but it's fast) www.vpnmentor.com/blog/close-expressvpn-account-get-refunded/

    I used to be with SmartDnsProxy and used to be able to access Netflix in various countries. Then suddenly it was US only, which wasn't an issue, but I decided to sign up with NordVPN instead when my 2 years ran out. I've had nothing but issues and still am not able to use it after months as I have to setup the VPN on my router to work on my Apple TV. There is no support and the support they give is outdated and not relevant to new router models. I would not suggest NordVPN unless you want to use it on specific devices that is not a router.

    Subscribed the service with nordvpn, the staff seemed available over the clock...but slow to process solution
    The connections l2pt/ipsec that nordvpn advertise, change the only server with this protocol twice daily and sometime withdraw the service entirely.
    So you not connected and show your actual ip with no warning from the provider
    When connected the speed slow down of at least 50%...
    Vpnmentor never published my genuine review...so make sure u trying well the service in the first 30days...

      I just tested it after seeing your comment and I had no trouble watching US Netflix. It could be that you're connecting to a server that was blocked by Netflix. Try using United States #2383 and see if that works

    I like NordVPN. The only thing I dislike is that Amazon Prime blocks it. There are workarounds, I haven't tried all of them yet but so far none have worked. My internet speed is fairly slow compared to what I see a lot of reviewers getting but it's free with my rent and is sufficient. One other reviewer mentioned how the speed according to tests seems slow but torrents download fast and I have had that as well, not a bad thing. For torrent users it being based in Panama and outside of the 5/9/14 eyes is good cause that is some scary stuff.

    • @vpnMentor
      @vpnMentor  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      This is strange to read since on all of our tests we had no problem accessing Amazon Prime with NordVPN. I'd advise you to contact Nord's customer support for help.

    You could also buy a physical card with a code on it from a store like Bestbuy with cash for the unlimited anonymous. Also like how it works with tor to aparently. Tor alone is even good, but tor and a VPN are good. Especially if you don't want your ISP seeing your using tor (Because it can look suspicious) but there also legitimate reasons for Tor.

    Hi,
    I'm thinking of taking out a subscription with NORDvpn.
    On the signup page there is a section to select your country.
    I've noticed if you select the US there is no tax but if I select the country I'm actually in, tax is added.
    Do I have to select my country of residence or can I select the US? I don't particularly want to pay a bunch of money grabbing bureaucratic c*nts anything for doing f**k all, if I can avoid it.
    Sorry, did I really say that? What I meant to say of course is: "those awfully nice people at the tax office".
    Regards
    Max

    • @vpnMentor
      @vpnMentor  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would assume that it depends on where payment is coming from. If you're using bitcoin you can select anywhere, but if its a credit card that is connected to your local bank, you'd probably have to pay the taxes.

    I just signed up for the monthly plan to try it out. I have to say I'm pretty happy with it indeed. I have 275 Mb/s down through my ISP and I'm getting around 185-200 Mb/s on the closest servers and full anonymity through NordVPN. The speeds are very reliable too. I tried a few different servers overseas and was surprised to see that even though my ping went up, I was still easily hitting over 150 Mb/s. This is entirely acceptable for me considering the benefits. I can finally torrent once in a while (not something I do all the time) without worrying about Comcast being notified and then sending me a notice about something I downloaded that has a copyright from 20 years ago. I hated the fact that Comcast knows exactly which protocols I'm using and can throttle them accordingly, now that net neutrality has basically went bye bye since the Trump administration repealed it (thanks you orange fuckface).
    I've done some extensive testing to make sure NordVPN isn't leaking my IP via DNS in my browser. There are plenty of websites that will let you test this thoroughly. DNS leaking is a HUGE issue with a lot of VPN's. But not with NordVPN. Also, their kill switch works not only as a Global kill switch, but you can use it to kill certain apps if your connection drops. Say I'm on Utorrent and I lose my connection, NordVPN's killswitch will disable my internet until I close Utorrent. You can set it up like this for other apps as well. Or just set it to automatically kill it no matter what, whenever your VPN connection goes down. I'm happy to report that I haven't had my connection drop one time.
    I'd love to set up NordVPN through my Archer C9 AC1900 router, which is possible via L2TP\ipsec or PPTP. However, the developers do not recommend using these protocols. Unfortunately my stock Firmware doesn't have the recommended WAN VPN protocols (OpenVPN or IKEv2/IPSec are the ONLY protocols the developers recommend ), although technically I can get it to work with L2TP\ipsec it just wouldn't be fully secure. I could however install DD-WRT, which supports the most secure VPN protocols, and then have a secure setup that goes directly through the router, instantly protecting all my devices without meddling with individual apps. That said, right now my router can have DD-WRT flashed but it's impossible to flash the old FW back at this point. Until they figure out how to give me an out, I'm not going to flash DD-WRT. I mean you never know how buggy an open source FW is gonna be and this router is a very good router that I'm not ready to just brick yet. I'll just use NordVPN's software to connect securely, until there are some more stable methods to install DD-WRT on my router. I need the option to flash the factory FW back to it, just in case.
    Overall, I recommend this VPN wholeheartedly.

      BTW, is there a way to register on the site so I don't have to post an anonymous review? Maybe I'm just tired right now but I see no way to register an account, yet i see user reviews with avatars and names so somehow they've joined, which is confusing to me. ???

      There is no way to register, our reviews are anonymous. The system just randomly adds an avatar to each review.

    You don't mix a review and tutorial together, especially when it comes to a VPN. The way you present your review is just like a sponsored content. A review needs to test the claims made about the product from features, servers, apps, CS, and its pricing. Then shows its pros and cons, and compared with other 3 popular VPNs as well. Don't forget to give your verdicts.

      You might want to check other videos we did. You'll see it is not that bad. Anyhow, Nord added more than 1000 servers (doubled the amount) in the past 4-5 months and we see a big improvement on that front. They really try to fight for the title "fastest VPN" which was exclusive to Express up until now.

    • @pleitgeb
      @pleitgeb 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Okay thanks. I will probably go NordVPN because it seems to be highly regarded now. My download speed averages around 100mps so I imagine I can still get a server(s) that will maintain something close to that.

      Shame you feel so. You can check our reviews page. Hundreds of honest user reviews. Some negative, most are positive, and for a reason if you ask us. There are really few vpns that can unblock Netflix, and the price is a bargain. These are the facts. But we'll keep working to make you and others trust our reviews. You're correct about being careful. Too many non honest review sites out there. www.vpnmentor.com/reviews/nordvpn/

    "If you have Multiple devices Nord app will hijack your router!"
    If you do not install your app on all your devises, the ones that do not have your app will not work!
    You will have a strong signal to these devices, but your router will not allow a connection!
    I have 1 computer with Windows 7, 2 with Windows 10, a Mac Pro which is 3 months new, 2 iPhone 6 Plus, IPhone 5, and 4. They all failed to connect without your app!
    I have A Philips TV with Wi-Fi cable and Apple TV. Only the television works!
    On March 29,2018 I contacted your support, and after 3 hours you tech ask me to add this to my DNS 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 (Google Public DNS) on the devises that did not have your app installed. Guess what? Magic occurred, they worked, except my cable/wifi channels in my t/v. I do not know how to access the wifi devise or the t/v.
    Tuesday (April 24, 2017)I replaced my HD with a SSD. I have a new Windows 7 OS. I could not access the internet, I had a very strong signal. I installed your app. And I could then get on the internet. I then formatted the Drive, reinstalled Windows 7, again could not access the internet. I then added 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 to my DNS an I can now get on the internet.
    NordVPN email. “Right now we can only say that VPN does not interfere with the way router works, it is simply technologically impossible. VPN connection only affects your connectivity on the device with which you are connected to VPN. If the device is not connected to VPN it cannot be affected.”
    As of now this is total Bullshit!
    I continue to strongly recommended people pass on this horrible app. I also strongly urge Apple Store to stop selling this product!
    Also you are blocking my ability to you use your chat. That is a piss poor way of conducting business!
    Also before I purchased your app I advised who ever I was chatting with that I was in Russia. I asked on two occasion if that was a problem. and will I have access to all of you servers. Your answer was yes I will. That is another Bullshit lie. I am restricted to only 13 countries now!

      I'm sorry to hear that you are having trouble with NordVPN - I do want to point out that we are merely a review service and can't offer tech support.
      Is there a reason that you don't want to download the apps onto your devices so that the router will connect them all? Most of the reviews that we receive about Nord are very positive, so I'm a bit surprised that you've had such a rough time with them.
