- In the ever-evolving landscape of international rugby, timely surges in form can play pivotal roles. Amidst the concerns arising from Lukhanyo Am's injury and the wavering form of Damian de Allende, Andre Esterhuizen emerges as a beacon of hope for South Africa's midfield conundrum. In this video, we break down Esterhuizen's sterling performance against Argentina, where he once again proved his mettle and showcased his readiness for the grand stage.
Esterhuizen, coming off a remarkable game against Australia, continued his stellar run. Against Argentina, he demonstrated not only the brute strength and impactful carries we've come to expect but also an adeptness in distribution and an unwavering defensive prowess. His performance seems to have cemented his place as a formidable option for the Springboks, especially at such a critical juncture.
What stood out most in his performance was his adaptability. He brought his trademark power play, ensuring valuable go-forward ball. Yet, he was far from a one-dimensional player. Esterhuizen's distribution, a skill often overshadowed by his size and strength, shone brightly, offering a dynamic option in the midfield.
With South Africa gearing up for the World Cup, such performances are not only reassuring but essential. Depth in squad choices is vital for any team's success. Esterhuizen's form suggests he might just be the answer to the Springboks' midfield questions.
Revisit his brilliant game against Australia and draw comparisons. Dive deep into his gameplay, strategies, and the potential solutions he offers for the Springboks. As always, your feedback and insights are invaluable. Share your thoughts, and let's discuss the evolving future of the Springboks' midfield together. Lastly, I would also like to thank VHA Accounting Solutions for their partnership during this 2023 Rugby Championship. This video was sponsored by them. We look forward to a great partnership during this Rugby Championship

I think each and everyone of us Springboks faithful are hoping the answer is a resounding “yes” 🙏🇿🇦
He's done everything that's been asked of him. If he puts in another good performance and De Allende has another bad one, I think there's a good chance he becomes the starter. Because for us to win this World Cup, it's obvious that we need to take risks with the loss of Am, Pollard and Lood.
@@tasanalytics as I stated in my response video, this cup will come down to how much the 3 young guns(Arendse,Libbok and Moodie) want it. They want to make a heap load of coin, which isn’t what it should be about but let’s face facts, money makes the world go,this is their time to shine ✨. I also expect to see some real passion from the vet Deon Fourie, watch, that man is hungry and will deliver when given the chance.
@@tasanalyticsAndre played excellent this game. But previous game against Argentina Damian played very well too and he scored a great try. The yellow card he got in final minutes was one of many bad calls by the ref. 🌽🌽🌽
Decent 7/10 …. DD still the man in possession
He looked really good...strong in this game. Happy for him and well deserved!
Andre has an unbelievable work rate...I've pointed this guy out several times in the past. It's a good thing the selectors have caught on.
Thx Mike without you pointing it out he wouldn't have been on the selectors radar.
Very sad about Am, blow for us. Big talent!
Great game Andre, and not a single pen conceded. Seems a deliberate tactic that after a tackle he is up and away, as opposed to trying to go for the ball.
While an excellent jackal and poaching threat, I think there's probably more value in having him making a good volume amount of tackles: he reads backlines really well but tackles like a big 8, over time smaller backs will be hesitant and scared to run down his channel if not outright hurt
I've always been a big fan of Esterhuizen as a Quins fan and as a forward you appreciate a big 12 who is getting you forward
Dude, his tackle techinique is just textbook and he makes it look so easy. One hand on the quad, head tucked the right way and a small lift and boom! Then rolls off back into defensive formation.
Reminds me of that SABC1 Rugby soap in the 80’s where the leads were fullback and opposing centre always smashing eachother on the pitch. (Showing my age😅)
This was a good pick i just like the calm attitude on his face and just doing his job without being selfish
loving the new sound improvement 😍😍😍😊
Andre doing great keep up the great work
I must say i thought he had played his best rugby of his Bok career and had done enough to be in the RWC squad. Good video TAS
Andre and Henco Van Wyk would give us the advantage.solid stuff
Hey thanks for the videos and good stuff. I'm curious, how to you get these videos from different angles? These are great for coaches.
Yes please!! Give the man a chance.
What a beast of a player
Andre is knocking the door down...
I think he is excellent, the only very minor criticism I have is that he needs to be careful with his tackle technique. He has tendency on occasion to lift the legs. Needs to be careful with that, as it can quickly go past horizontal with a little extra momentum. Otherwise, hell of a good Center.
Especially since by the time he thumps the guy down, he's offloaded the ball long ago. It's legal, but the optics look bad and with a hostile TMO he might cost us.
I was going to comment on exactly the same thing. Against a team like Ireland, who like to play to the ref, taking a tackled player close to horizontal is asking for trouble.
@@dougerrohmerDe Allende has received more cards than Andre Esterhuizen in the last 2 years. Meaning De Allende is more likely to cop a yellow card. You people and your pre-conceived notions need to do your research.
@@tyl3rb-fw6ee Read my comment, I'm not pro or anti anybody, I'm just saying he has to watch the lifting because we more often than not get hostile referees looking for excuses. Nou vlieg in jou moer met jou "you people".
Solid battering ram but that’s also his weakness. Loved Am’s back-of-the-hand offload. That’s the fair we’re missing. But fingers crossed.
He is de Allende but bigger with arguably better ball skills. He's also hungry for work on the field and mostly is dominant in collisions. I think he will make a mark. Congrats. A successful Bok campaign will come from the relatively inexperienced Boks stepping up on the big stage. I'm excited for Andre, the young wingers and I reckon Libbok will do just fine. Siya in the mix just for support is huge, and if he actually gets game time it will be massive but I think we have the talent and the game plan to go far. Gonna be a great world cup no matter the outcome. Go the Boks.
Libbok doesn't inspire confidence. He is very patchy and the wheels have come off his kicking. Pollard is a big loss.
@@nerdyali4154 massive loss. But I don't dislike Libbok. Kicking can improve. He's who we got. So fcuk it, let's roll.
@franciscobizzaro yeah kicking can be coached libboks overall game at 10 is superb and he is a real general there as he can control the pack as well as the backline. I am hoping he has a good WC campaign
@@zorba4166 my man
Pollard is no loss. Hardly plays a full international, replaced by Jantjies of all people. No attack, no defence
Ironically, he and Am was building up a nice partnership at the Sharks before he left for England. More ironically, based on the setup of the WC squad it is clear to see that he would sadly have been left out of the WC squad was it not for Am's injury. I think the coaches are sometimes so scared to try stuff, rather stick to the tried and tested
Try directly comes from him passing to Libbok who kick passes to Moodie. A kick pass is only an option off quick hands. Can you imagine De Allende doing that or do you think he would crash ball first?
I think that whole move was pre-planned and practised. DDA would have done exactly the same.
Tackles like a monster and then attacks like a beast, difficult to get down....we have a weapon here. I think Am's injury is a blessing in disguise, because the rest of the world would not have had time to figure Esterhuizen out yet...Praying Am recovers soon🙏...
On what settings is it where you can watch the game live with no commentators?
Best 12 in the English prem, and England dont have a proper 12 🤦♂️.
How about you South Africans swop one of your 12s for one of our English 10s? Smith for De Allende?
No thanks 😄
He stepped up and we can say his a unit a block
He is miles better than de Allende he just needs to be given a chance.
Night and day difference
Personally I would still give De Allende the edge. But in saying that, I think De Allende is playing for his job in these next 2 warmup games. If he underperforms and Esterhuizen puts in another classy performance like his previous 2, then I simply can't see them starting with De Allende. But I wouldn't give up on him just yet. I actually think they're probably going to give either Esterhuizen or De Allende a game at 13 in one of the warm ups. But in reality, I don't think the 2 of them would be very good at 13, I prefer them at 12. I would much rather just keep Kriel at 13, and then maybe give Moodie a shot there, to see if he can swim in the deep end.
@@tasanalytics I agree on moodie at 13, think it’s worth a shot. Kid seems like he’s not shaken by anything.
Idk if dda has shown me enough lately, for me to pick him over Andre.
🤣
@@tasanalyticsI agree to try both de Allende and Andre at 13 just to see as well as try moodie there. I just have something against kriel. I personally don’t rate him as a springbok in general
Mr TASanalytics please send video to Meneer Erasmus en Nienaber.
We have some big issues, Flyhalf I obviously want Libbok to prove me wrong but i'm just going off his performances for the boks also Am is a huge loss the man is a world class centre and is a game changer...what is the answer I don't know maybe Willemse at 13? Or are we going to play 2x12 with Big Andre and Allende? Kriel? :(
I thought he's played well, deserved the RwC call up....I would like to see him try to stay on his feet more in contact and drive the legs and ultimately it would be better if he hit gaps rather than steamroll guys.
Now ask the same of De Allende
Fkn yster! Skills have improved over the last couple of years, more than just a battering ram, and the boy can tackle.
Who did South Africa play against in this game?
I think the wings play better with Andre Esterhuizen on the field e.g. vs Oz as he creates more space for them.
I think you're right, 2-3 defenders stick to Esterhuizen when he gets the ball, and he has an accurate long pass to put the outside backs in space.
It worked really well against Aus, but is that because they're that bad, or is he that good?
Give any of our wings the ball in space and they can take care of the rest
2.37 4 white, offside and in from the side?
Yeah he looks sharp. Big body, works hard and seems to make the right decisions on both sides of the ball. deAllende is not back to his best. When he first turned up, he was class, bit seems to be struggling to consistently hit those highs.
Imagine a world where Andre can play for 60 minutes and be replaced by Henco Van Wyk
Henco has a little boy body, he still needs to grow into his body, Moodie is a better prospect at 13, once Henco grows though he'll be unplayable 😊
He is great but De Allende has better ball carrying technique
Must start ahead of DDA
Since last year if Incomment somewhere that he is better than dda everybody laughed, now that he is given some sort of a run it is clear to see dda time is past.
They going to play Andre 12 and Damian de 13
Could be De Allende (12) & Esterhuizen (13/outside centre)
Is that aqua blue ???
We will have a problem with organising the defence Without Am. A very big loss if you ask me
who plays 13 and who plays 12 in a Bok run-on team now?
I feel Andre has a better passing game over Damian. In terms of taking the ball up and defense, I would say they are the same.
Esterhuizen 12, DDA 13 - for me that works well. DDA links up well with wings on attack (usually). Kriel can be back up.
DDA has glue in his hands, the wings will never see the ball with him at 13
He is so much better than De Allende. Bigger Stronger, and he passes the ball!!!
he needs to learn to stay on his feet for longer periods of time. He is big but he needs more of Heinrich brussows "stay-up" skills
Hes ok. Quite frankly for his size he doesnt seem to hit as hard or break tackles as hard as i would expect a guy of 110 kg. On the other side Damian is brick sh!thouse solid and strong.
Also Esterhuizen lacks the rugby finess/iq of Barret or Iaone.
Just my pov.
I agree on this, DDA is highly rated and with Am potentially injured these two could be a solid option. DDA is a special player, can't believe there are so many righting him off
Andre 12 defnitly
Hope he moves to first choice
Well, not really as the incumbent 12 has been performing well in test matches. Deallende or whatever he's called.
Play both Kriel and De Allende. The latter can play 12.
This guy works hard I give him that. But I dont think he is of National standards. Just because he was able to get a dominat tackle on someone who offloaded the ball, doesnt mean he is a good player. He distributed the pass well in one of the clips, but it led the winger to get dragged into touch. He also didnt make the good technique were he bodies the other person blocking the inside man isolating the last defender on a 2 on 1. Such tiny thing to work on but that block can make a 1/2 second difference and that 1/2 second is lethal in test rugby. He has to polish up his skills
This is why you're not the coach.
@@mags7054 Fair enough but the coach must agree with not selecting him over De Alande or the other boke midfielders
@@petestewart9442 D Allende seems to have been a bit off his best lately, J Kriel seems to be making a comeback, apart from that, I'm not sure, but more inclined to agree with you.
I think D Willemse is best off the bench, very versatile player, and seems to have a bigger impact off the bench when players are little more tired.
he looks a little like a stocky forward
Why were they playing in those ridiculous colours ?
they put on the peppermint green to spice things up? LOL
Type of player to haunt you in your dreams 😂
Too high in his carries, needs to go lower.
Esterheizen is better simply because he passed the ball😂
He is better than de linde
de linde, yes, De Allende, no.
DAN DU PLESSIS WAY BETTER . WAY MORE BALL SKILLS AND FASTER .
I prefer Grant Esterhuizen. he is the real Esterhuizen
