You have to react to Britney's "Everytime." That's my favorite.
One of my favourite Britney songs. The sad irony is how this song and all it's themes came out before Britney's mental health struggles came out.
Just keep in mind this song is from 2000, and she was already shedding a light into what she was feeling like. She was place under a conservator ship in 2008 and for the next 13 years lived a hell of a life being forced to do albums, going on tour, etc.
But this is pure coincidence, because "Lucky" wasn't written by Britney. It was written by the songwriter/producer Max Martin.
@@frederichorndasch9302 I never said the song was written BY Britney. No matter how much control her record label had during the first two albums, she still had songs given to her and get to decide what to sing and what not, I think she felt pretty connected to Lucky.
Britney was always smart and very intentional when choosing her songs (even the ones she didn't wrote). She has a lot of very deep and meaningful songs that represent her life and feelings, people just didn't get it.
Lucky probably didn't have the same feel or that deep of a meaning comparing her life then to years later, when everybody started to turn on her, but she had been telling us a lot through her records.
Dang it, I JUST got this song out of my head 😂 I agree, it is sad. I wasn’t a huge Britney fan at the time and her music still isn’t totally my thing, but I definitely appreciate her more now. She’s definitely a strong woman and I am so happy she was finally able to get free.
I loved her as a kid, this gives me goosebumps in retrospect. Even back then we knew she was singing about herself, but we had no idea what was going on. This song was before her "breakdown"

Yes, she's on her own background vocals. She has a really naturally lovely voice. The record execs/ her team chose to restrict her to the growly, hyper-produced tone as a "sexy" contrast to her sweet innocent prettiness. Starting when she was a teenager. It was all pretty gross, long before the conservatorship.

I had a nice neighbour whom my husband and I referred to as Ray of sunshine, because firstly, his name was Ray, and because he was always happy and friendly whenever we saw him. One night he drank a bottle of hard liquor, and swallowed a large quantity of prescription medication. His body wasn't found for 3 days. He wasn't even 40 years old. It was just horrendous, and heartbreaking.

This is the only Britney Spears song that I relate to and this has been my experience with my life. My whole life people have said this about me,and I've always felt like Britney. I'm 44 and still relate to this song.

It was actually supposed to be about Marilyn Monroe and her life. And Britney was even dressed like her in the video, cuz Britney idolizes MM. so she wanted to pay tribute to her. And yeah it's crazy how later on it became Britneys life. Wow.

It's sad to watch it knowing she had no idea her life would be stolen from her in just 8 years time.

This was probably my least favourite Britney Spears song at the time, but in hindsight, the lyrics are eerily accurate as to how her life panned out over the years.
If you get a chance, please react to Britneys song 'Everytime'. It was, at the time' thought to be her deep reaction to her messy breakup with Justin Timberlake. The video is amazing too. I remember the edit of the video where Britney dies in the bath has to be re-edited for TV stations. Its really heartfelt and showd a different, vulnerable side to her.

Once you know something you try to apply it to everything. She just started out here. She wasn't in a conservatorship and her drunk dad wasn't in the picture. Brit was in control. She thought it was a cool concept, but this was only her second album. She had just reached superstardom. It's interesting how some artists early work scary describes their futures.
I think there are two layers of her own vocals plus the choir, and I bet it was the same for all songs from the Oops album :)

If only people would have taken it seriously that this was an actual cry for help long before a lot of her issues manifested and then of course were made 1000x's worse by her family.
It's amazing, honestly when you look at other celebrities and musicians that struggle like she has, that she's still alive. Because a lot of them that went through similar levels of chaos and issues like her, are not.
Another song that comes to mind from watching this Music Video is Bon Jovi's "What Have You Got". That Music Video is about a Celerbrity Couple who pretend to be Happily Married in Public and what it's like in reality. Thank goodness that in reality Jon and His Wife Dorothea really are Happily Married. Having been Teenage Sweethearts He knows She Loves ❤ Him for himself.

I forget who it was now, but I read an article recently talking about how the entertainment industry is really bad for kid stars, because it doesn't give a crap about them. It just wants to make money off of them. As kids though, they have no experiences of "normal" life so they don't know how to handle the money they make. They get ground up by the industry, and then as adults they had no money. It's really bad for a lot of them.

The price of that type of fame is really not worth it. The whole thing is a golden cage and it explains why so many young artists/actors end up with serious drug problems or destroy themselves in other ways. There are many parts to it but I imagine not ever being sure if your friends love you or just love your fame, and the other big problem is having no ability to ground yourself because every day people scream how great you are and your management fulfils any request you have. Now add in the complete removal of a private life and being surrounded by vultures who will sell any of your secrets to a journalist and you really have an awful existence.
