Omg this is giving me anxiety!! I haven’t paddled for over a year & this reminds me how bloody dangerous it is!

it's the narrow width of the surf skis. You can see the stand up paddlers just chilling in the same condition

i enjoyed that and l see that the leg leash gets in the way which seems that this will happen from time to time,is there anyway to get around this

I don't attach my leg leash that way anymore. I attach it to my lifevest and the rear elastics now to keep my legs free. Had no problems since.

Man I can’t wait to get wet in my first gen V10! Looks awesome trying something new! Wondering… if it’ll be harder with years of surfing/kayaking experience or easier. I can see both

Your balance will definitely improve and you’ll feel more comfortable on it with time. But if even pros fall off the v10 depending on the conditions so expect practicing remounts from time to time. Enjoy the boat mate.

    What ski are you in???

That is the generation 1 v-10 sport. The really old one with the extra wide bucket. It was my first ski. I should have been in a V-8. I've since moved on to gen 1 V-10, gen 2 V-10L and gen 2 V-12. I use a V-8 pro for knarly days like that, and the 12 for downwind in more groomed conditions.

@@lawrencerisley7231 It does look like the bucket is too wide. The boat's not responding to your efforts to right it. Your body is upright, but the boat stays tipped. I have a Fenn Mako6, which has parallel bucket sides, and a Nelo 560 which has a flared shape. The bottom of the bucket is the same dimension on both boats, but the top of the bucket is 3/4" wider on the Nelo. I made some 3/8" pads for the Nelo out of kayak foam, and now it's much easier to balance.

For anyone looking for better advice on how to remount a ski, please seek out the videos that Oscar has on youtube. His videos came out after this one and I use his method now. If you plan on remounting in big stuff, I can only add that it's critical to time your remount carefully. The ocean will help lift you up over the bucket. The motion is usually all one quick move from pull up to seat in the bucket. That's important to practice. The trick in a pitching sea is to time it so that sea helps you, rather than fights you. The timing is critical. You only have a few moments to complete the motion. Most people don't get to practice this enough to make it automatic. Therefore, it's important to follow Oscar's advice. He will show you how to break it down in to segments so that you can rest. It's far safer if you understand his advice thoroughly. My video is full of errors. Do it the way Oscar recommends and practice it.
