Man I can’t wait to get wet in my first gen V10! Looks awesome trying something new! Wondering… if it’ll be harder with years of surfing/kayaking experience or easier. I can see both
Your balance will definitely improve and you’ll feel more comfortable on it with time. But if even pros fall off the v10 depending on the conditions so expect practicing remounts from time to time. Enjoy the boat mate.
For anyone looking for better advice on how to remount a ski, please seek out the videos that Oscar has on youtube. His videos came out after this one and I use his method now. If you plan on remounting in big stuff, I can only add that it's critical to time your remount carefully. The ocean will help lift you up over the bucket. The motion is usually all one quick move from pull up to seat in the bucket. That's important to practice. The trick in a pitching sea is to time it so that sea helps you, rather than fights you. The timing is critical. You only have a few moments to complete the motion. Most people don't get to practice this enough to make it automatic. Therefore, it's important to follow Oscar's advice. He will show you how to break it down in to segments so that you can rest. It's far safer if you understand his advice thoroughly. My video is full of errors. Do it the way Oscar recommends and practice it.
That is the generation 1 v-10 sport. The really old one with the extra wide bucket. It was my first ski. I should have been in a V-8. I've since moved on to gen 1 V-10, gen 2 V-10L and gen 2 V-12. I use a V-8 pro for knarly days like that, and the 12 for downwind in more groomed conditions.
@@lawrencerisley7231 It does look like the bucket is too wide. The boat's not responding to your efforts to right it. Your body is upright, but the boat stays tipped. I have a Fenn Mako6, which has parallel bucket sides, and a Nelo 560 which has a flared shape. The bottom of the bucket is the same dimension on both boats, but the top of the bucket is 3/4" wider on the Nelo. I made some 3/8" pads for the Nelo out of kayak foam, and now it's much easier to balance.
gopro 3 white. I made the mount out of carbon fiber, it's about a foot high. TH-cam won't allow me to link to it here. But a picture of it is on sufski info in a thread called camera mount for bow of ski. Glad you like the vids. We are so fortunate here on Maui.
boardwalk to the cove on that day. We also start at Kihei Canoe Club if it's offshore wind. Finishes can be cove, sarento's, polo beach or makena landing.
I'm not sure what system you use, but my stuff is already uploaded to youtube. It's simple to move a vid ino the editor and stabilize it. I'd google for something relevant to your situation.
Nice, you can tell by the back of the swells there was some size. Also looks like you had a pretty good pace going there... I knew I wasn't going to be able to keep up with you guy's but I had a super fun run anyway!!
Hi Randy, The front angles dissapointed me for a few reasons; too much glare and the angle of the camera was too straight-on - too much of my legs in the frame. It's a learning experience each time. Camera angled to the right seems best for north shore, to the left south shore (sun glare) I too am anticipating some good stuff on a big wind event with a NW swell. I hope you guys are along for the ride.
Wow!! You got that up fast....Thanks Larry!! Fun run, you can hear us hootin and laughing through out the vid Ha! Love to get footage when it's really smokin sometime. What happened with the front facing angle?
Jeremy is pretty amazing in the surf on these stock boards… i love this angle and being able to see him walk on the board and change his positiion! SICK! keep'em coming...
You lost a flip flop ... : (
i enjoyed that and l see that the leg leash gets in the way which seems that this will happen from time to time,is there anyway to get around this
I don't attach my leg leash that way anymore. I attach it to my lifevest and the rear elastics now to keep my legs free. Had no problems since.
Awesome Lawrence.. I've been there with NO LEASH !!!
Dosent even look fun id use my old town sport its skirted and it like rec /white water be perfect and you can roll back up
Omg this is giving me anxiety!! I haven’t paddled for over a year & this reminds me how bloody dangerous it is!
it's the narrow width of the surf skis. You can see the stand up paddlers just chilling in the same condition
