A great video, Kimberly. Thank you. I have quilted, cross stitched, and embroidered for years and have discovered a lot of great tips watching your videos. Until today, i didn't know the difference between tapestry and embroidery needles. It's never too late for an old dog to to learn new tricks!

I just rewatched this video. So informative and helpful. Best tip ever - turn the needle around to the other side if you can't get it threaded! I bought some of the Whitecroft needles and half the time I couldn't get it threaded. Then I remembered your tip and now I can always get them threaded.

These stitchy talks have all been so informative- thank you! I’ve finally gotten a friend interested in stitching and I’m sending her the videos about fabric, floss and needles. Then I’ll have her watch the July ep! Great stuff!

Love to see what you have stitched, FFO’s and new to FQS. I love the vibrant colors and the cooler weather although like TX it doesn’t cool down until Mid-Oct or Nov. in Arkansas.

Luckily I have a good size Pat Carson stash but good info for when I need to branch out. First time hearing about turning the needle for stubborn floss that won't go through and I have been stitching since the 80's.Thanks!

After watching this I realize. I needed to throw some needles away. I have a tendency to just use the same needle. My thread is getting tangled I am thinking it is because I need a new needle. Thanks for the information. Have a great day. Super excited for the next stitchy talk.

Interesting floss tube. I've been stitching for decades. Recently started using Mary Arden, but the top where you thread is gold, the ones I bought. I noticed the needle itself is flat. Fascinating to me. I'm enjoying using it. There are a few you've shown I've not tried & will in the future. Love the needle minders. Their such fun. Happy Stitching!

I watched this and found it so informative. Thank you. I stitch on 14 count Aida, and what a difference using a proper sized needle, and a better needle. I bought a Bohin 24 and 26. They slide like butter and make the cross stitching so much easier. I had cheaper ones and l will never use them again.

It's like I never heard this information before. Thanks Kimberly. Have been having a lot of problems threading 2 Strands of Classic Color Works into a Size 26 Embroidery Needles. Now I find that I should use Tapestry Needles. I hope these work. I love My John James.

Thanks Kimbelry - very informative - but I have found that stainless steel or the Pony Brand are best for sensitive skin - they are not nickle plated which is better!! :-)

I just found the Colonial size 28 gold plated tapestry Petit needles at a LNS. They are my new favorite. Made in the UK. Extremely smooth and I haven’t had the fiber shredding I have experienced in other brands. Please explore this brand.

Thanks for sharing this info. Is there a brand of needle that has the most durable finish? My fingers seem to eat through the finish of needles very quickly. For example, I get maybe 2 hours of stitching from a Bohin. A bit longer from Piecemakers. Ed-Mar and Mary Arden's finish lasts the longest, but I still go through multiple needles while doing a small project (like a SWTH tiered tray tidbit). Gold plated don't last any longer than nickel for me. I broke Sullivans (only needles I've ever broke...). I stitch on higher counts and exclusively use a size 28 or size 10 blunt beading needle. Any suggestions for small durable finish tapestry needles are welcome.

I’d love to know if anyone has used the John James double pointed needle. It takes a bit to get used to but my white stitches are so much nicer when I use it. It is a slow slog so I only use on large white sections. Being a Christmas theme stitcher I have lots of white. Kimberly?
