Truly heartwarming. Irma Thomas is a legend and deserves recognition. I love how Jagger let Irma took the vocals of the song, which was her from the very beginning.
I finally got to see The Rolling Stones live and in person. Honestly one of the highlights of my life. They are my favorite band and never ever thought that I would be able to see them play
As soon as I found out that both the Stones and Irma were going to be at this fest, I had a feeling that this was going to happen. Ty for posting this.
brilliant! such an outstanding thing hearing Sir Mick singing the backing vocals behind Irma, bless her soul. A Nostalgia act you say? they've just started all over again!
I remember listening to a radio show hosted by Ruth Brown, hmm, maybe 60 years ago and she was praising a young up and comer..Irma Thomas. I forgot the songs she sang but ive loved her since that night, so long ago. Thank you!
I've been going to Jazzfest for over 30 years and talking to anyone who would listen about Mick and Irma doing this song together since I moved to New Orleans in 1976. So this is my number 1 live concert thrill of all time. I feel like this is a piece of the puzzle that completes one's life.
Glad you got to see it. I remember my first Jazzfest, and feeling the hair on my arms stand up When 80,000 people sang blueberry Hill. My dad had already passed but his spirit wear sure with me right that moment.
@@debbiemeek3741 Was that on a Thursday during the early 2000's? I took my one of my sons to his first Jazzfest and our best memory of that experience was line dancing to Fats singing Blueberry Hill on the Acura Stage. When I sent my rough video of Irma\Mick, it was the first thing my song brought up,
@@stevephillips-w5vJesus Christ , what’s racist about that ? They play music from other culture because they like it and how better can you show respect , they were always fans of American blues/black music/soul/ jazz / … playing music of other people/culture is not racism but showing tribute and respect to those people and culture ….. nowadays everything is racist ( sick world is nowadays )
If the Stones hadn’t brought the blues back to the USA it may well have died here because of Jim Crow making touring so difficult for black blues musicians.
Like many others, this made my day! The song was first recorded by Kai Winding and his Orch. in 1963, without lyrics, except for the repeated title phrase, sung by the Gospelaires. The Gospelaires were Dionne and Dee Dee Warwick, Cissy Houston (Whitney's mom) and Doris Troy, and they did a lot of session work before Dionne's solo career took off. Jimmy Norman added lyrics to the Jerry Ragavoy song, and Irma had the first complete version of it.
how great are the Stones bringing this special lady out this is priceless and was my fave went to #6 November 64 ----"now I got the real love-----the kind that you need" that has got to be the hook line of the Brits Invasion
The coolest thing ever! Who is the gentleman standing at the back next to the drums who several of the band members acknowledged during the song with head nods, and Steve Jordan shook hands with after the song??
Thank you Mike, Keith, Ron and all the band, for being so great and always integrating different musicians, a very very good example of how to work and live together
Love this!!! Took a while to happen... I guess that Time is on both of their sides. Irma Thomas wrotr "Time is on mySide!" If you want more Irma Thomas check out "Sing It!", and much more, The Queen of The Crescent City!
Truly heartwarming. Irma Thomas is a legend and deserves recognition. I love how Jagger let Irma took the vocals of the song, which was her from the very beginning.
What a beautiful song she has created.
Mick is a true gentleman bello mio😂
No it wasn't. Written by Jerry Ragovy (not black) and a Danish trombonist Kai Winding recorded first!
It's been a long time coming for that to happen. Irma Thomas is an absolute legend and still sounds amazing at 83.
Time was on her side for real.
Mick is only 81
@@MsCaleb79 If only he sounded half as good as Irma does.
And Mick's not far behind her!
Stones should be commended- paying tribute to their influences is really special!!! Brilliant
Irma has still got it! Really good.
That was great, thanks for posting this clip. Irma still singing fine and looking smokin hot

She brings such depth to this song.
Wow, what a great moment! Total props to the Stones for finding her and giving her the spotlight.
It was wonderful to watch two legends yesterday
Ms. Irma is indeed the Queen of Soul of New Orleans, an outstanding singer and a great lady.
The Stones are class acts….giving homage and tribute to a legend. And what an amazing performance.
That is amazing since 1964 time was on our side.
It's about time! What a wonderful treat!
This was awesome to see in person.... thanks for recording your perspective!
We are craft artists at Jazzfest!
I’m guilty of judging people recording with phones at concerts but holy cow thank you for capturing and sharing this

Irma is 83 and sou ds fcking amazing! Respect to the Stones for including her, and to Mick for letting her shine! Class acts! Legends!
Historic performance. The Rolling Stones went to New Orleans where it all started.
Wow! This is quite iconic!
One of my favorite songs from the early Stones. Those where the days my friend we thought they never end.
Great stuff. Great lady!
This is my fave song from both 🤩🤩
This was great.
Thank so much for sharing this great performance. A great duet here. I did see The Rolling Stones live in 1997. Cheers! 👍🏻👍🏻✌️
She is a national treasure that not enough people know about.
There are too MANY singers for us to have all known all of them.
Wonderful thanks for posting!
Saw Irma when I was at the New Orleans Jazz Fest at her bar 1995. Saw her do a gig in NYC too once. Amazing singer. A soul legend.
It only took 60 years for them to get together! This puts a big smile on my face.
Superb performance!
Totally awesome and what class!!!!

Outstanding. Brings a tear to my eye. All that's missing is Brian, Charlie and Bill.
Me too. I always liked Brian specially.

I grew up with this song... thanks Mick cs
Wow, this was great!!
BRAVO to the Rolling Stones for their choice of artists to open their shows around the country.
Lucky people who witnessed this amazing performance
👌 great singing from the female singer. I think i have to check out more from here...
Time is on our sides. Let's love one another before it's to late.
Great to see the respect that the Stones always displayed to their black influences, no racism in those guys
They were so in awe of American blues. I don't see how they could have ever been racist.
Because they are very intelligent and well read ❤️

Love The Stones, Irma A Favorite since St Henry’s Dances ❤️

never heard of her before today. Composer Lyricist: Jerry Ragovoy. Great song Jerry !!
This was her biggest hit, which she wrote herself, #17 pop and #2 RnB in early 1964. th-cam.com/video/59QX1OMeDxE/w-d-xo.html
Thanks!❤
Always like the Stones for doing this type of thing.
She is amazing, I love the back and forth with her and Mick.
That is so cool! Love it! ❤
Thank you Mike, Keith, Ron and all the band, for being so great and always integrating different musicians, a very very good example of how to work and live together
Dang. She can still sing from the heart. Pretty cool.
Never loose it, soul music.
Fabulous, and how the Stones keep the exposure going to the African American artists for the public. Like they have been for so many years!!!!
Very sweet. Respectful, and fun!
Beautiful
