    *I enjoyed watching this video over and over again. An interesting video of a tug boat pulling a large barge through the sluice gate is very dramatic. It is a testament to the ingenuity and professionalism of the maritime industry, which requires a lot of skill and coordination between the team. We need to thank the people in this industry for what they do to keep the world running smoothly*

    As a tug master for 40 years I recognise this operator completed a difficult passage through the lock gates , it could have been easier if the tugboat had H bits rather than a single tow post as the port tow line from the barge is secured on the starboard side of the Hand the stb tow line is on the port side post and if the tug is as close as physically possible so the wash from the propeller go's under the barge rather than push against it this in creases towing affect and ability, thanks for the video I'm tetired now but still love seeing people's was of solving the same things I spent a lifetime doing

      Рад познакомиться с вами! Вы правы, плавучие краны обычно очень тяжелые, и для их перемещения по порту или верфи требуется мощная техника, например буксиры. Без этих мощных активов многие виды морской деятельности, которые мы считаем само собой разумеющимися, были бы невозможны.

    Just another thought we used too Jack up the chains and place on a mounting frame remove the tracks and drive winch drums from the track drive mechanism in the early days chain drive and in latter years hydrolic this reduced the weight on the barge and reduced the need for alternative winch systems on the deck as all winches only took up the same space as the tracks and were operated by the chain driver

      @cargoships ปีที่แล้ว

      ¡Totalmente de acuerdo! Los remolcadores son esenciales en el movimiento de grandes barcos y el capitán del remolcador debe ser un verdadero artista para manejar con habilidad su máquina y hacer que los grandes barcos se muevan con seguridad y precisión. Es impresionante ver cómo estos profesionales pueden maniobrar hábilmente los barcos, incluso en condiciones difíciles como fuertes vientos o corrientes. Es un trabajo muy especializado y solo aquellos con la capacitación y la experiencia adecuadas pueden hacerlo con éxito. Así que sí, ¡el capitán del remolcador es realmente un artista!

      @cargoships ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm glad to hear that you thought the crew did a nice job, despite not shortening up the towing bridle. It's always important to ensure that safety is the top priority when it comes to towing and other marine operations. While shortening the towing bridle can help to improve the stability of the tow, there may be other factors to consider such as weather conditions, sea state, and the characteristics of the tug and barge.

    that second tug the QUAC HUY is a very nice Tug indeed, cap'n keeps her ship shape and clean, nicest tug I see on the Mekong, or in the Delta, wonder of she just came off the dry dock? it's not new, 80's, just well maintained and taken care of.. ncie tug fellas.. of course you can see the first tug was older, 50's model, seen better days but as long as they steam up the Mekong it's all good, they make that money.. cool videos, I like em.. its to bad they don't just put in a lock for this mock weir system, so much fuel wasted right there motoring up that tiny span.. so much time wasted and the wear and tear, that one video you can see where he overheated, she shit down and he was free floating.. crashing into smaller vessels.. no good
    OR, another system they could use is a constant pulley system, overhead, it runs form about 2000ft upstream to 2000ft downstream, you hook up to that like a ski lift system and it pulls you up and across that pressure system there, no steering nothing the cable system takes over, maybe enlarge that opening as well..
    I get what they're doing the gates close and keep the water level higher upstream, just a bad setup all the way around..

      They're going against the current, so whenever the vessel gets even slightly out of line the current tends to push the bow sideways, which if not caught quickly would push the vessel right round; so they are constantly correcting every slight misalignment (that's my guess, anyway; I once literally had my boat turned 180 degrees on a French canal when a lock paddle was opened just 'upstream' and ahead of me when I wasn't paying attention - needed several people on the bank hauling the bow rope to bring it back round; no way the stern prop and rudder would do it on their own!)

  • @benth162
    @benth162 ปีที่แล้ว

    Ngốc cũng như ngu. Chiếc tàu kéo đó là một trò đùa. Họ không biết để kéo sà lan lớn như vậy vào cửa khi nước đang ào ạt ra khơi, cần có động cơ lớn hơn sao? Họ cần ít nhất một động cơ có kích thước gấp đôi động cơ mà tàu kéo cần để đi qua cổng. Kích thước động cơ phải tương ứng với độ lớn của sà lan mà chúng sẽ chở và tốc độ nước di chuyển qua cổng so với yếu tố thời gian đưa sà lan đó đến đích cuối cùng. Nếu bạn bị hạn chế về thời gian, bạn sẽ cần một động cơ lớn hơn những gì TUG có. Và bây giờ tôi thấy rằng có hai chiếc tàu kéo, một kéo và một đẩy.

  • @benth162
    @benth162 ปีที่แล้ว

    Stupid is as stupid does. That tugboat is a joke. Don't they know that pulling such a large barge into the gate when the water is rushing out to sea, need a larger engine? They need at least an engine that is twice the size than the tug would need by itself to get through the gate. The engine size must correspond to how large a barge they are going to be hauling and how fast the water is moving through the gate relative to the time element of getting that barge to its final destination. If you are under time constraints, you'll need a larger engine, than what that TUG has. And now I see that there were two tugs one pulling and the other pushing.
