The Mind Sliver cantrip is good through the end of your next turn so no need to extend it a round to set yourself up. Definitely a 4 on a scale of 1-3. 😊 Love the Blade of Disaster home brew!
I was running a mind flayer encounter for my party that was hinted at, and then tashas came out. The warlock immediately took intellect fortress and was able to make the fighter and barbarian resistant and have advantage on the mind blasts lol
@@TheDungeonCoach Serious though, some people think the smartest person is the one who knows they don't know. But actually, knowing you don't know is pointless unless you do something about it. Learning is fun!
For the blade of disaster since its a planar rift I would give the player an option as to what plane it's a rift to and give it an extra effect based on that. Feels very strange that they describe it as a rift to another plane but never really do anything with it.
I can imagine a heart elemental being a giant pulsing monster made of meat and has blood magic abilities. If we only knew a TH-camr who did a video on blood magics hahahha. Fantastic video, Coach
I really like the blue veil for players to add some unexpected story or tactics for example they summon a demon or happen to fight something from another plane. They harvest something from the creature and use it to teleport elsewhere. DM may never see it coming
Coach, I get what you mean about the bonus actions and reactions could exist for all of the different forms of a given summon spell, but summons already complicate combat. I'm just glad that these are all mostly strict upgrades to the previous conjuration/summoning spells.
This is true, you don’t want your summons action economy to bog down the game, that’s why I usually have the BA be something quick, but I totally see what you’re saying!
Fully agreed on that 9th level spell. If it's described as a planar rift in blade form, I'd expect some Vorpal Blade mechanics, and/or banishing targets to other planes. The yard stick for me for 9th level spells is Wish. Why would I cast this fancy sword spell to kill a few enemies in this battle, when I could cast Wish and change the shape of the entire war?
I just finished a campaign that utilized the Queen of Chaos leading a legion of Star Spawn. You should look into them, they are very cool, and they utilized each others powers very well. As a single monster they are fun, but as a team they are crazy dangerous. Thanks for the video coach!
I absolutely LOVE your channel. I'm new to D&D I've played two campaign, one only lasted 2 sessions due to personal issues so my Bard is sitting around bored lol. My rogue is only a level 6 in the other one I'm in. I love the game so much though I started my own campaign as a DM and your videos have made it so much easier to flesh out the world and story I created! Keep up the amazing work
you cant use the blade of disaster as your own weapon similarly how yuo cant use spiritual weapon as one. but tbh it is a very good spell as it is in 3 with a 75 percent to hit and 15% to crit you would deal around 16d12 damage (4 hits and 1 crits) .... thats a lot and dont forget you can cast other spells after that like disintegrate. this spell + force cage are a very very scary combo. a cheezy combo but a very scary cheese XD I do agree about the flying movement being increased and to be truly feel like a 9th level I would remove the concentration.
I swear it says make two attacks I. The text!! I gotta read it again! But yea you gotta balance it for yourself, like you said, what feels right for you 👌🏼
@@TheDungeonCoach yeah the two melee spell attacks are tied to the bonus action that you summoned it or you move it. now another neet fix is just by reading it by the letter it says it pass through any barrier so you can say it ignore armor an make the AC of anything it attacks 10 + dex. maybe ??? its a neat scrutiny by the wording but it might be a interesting take wouldn't you say.
Tasha is “all” about the bonus action and the temp “pet”. Say you are a Sorcerer and you use a mind sliver and follow it up with hold person as a quickened spell. (Don’t forget Wizards there is a feat so you can do it too!) Someone (not naming any Drow names ) poisons you and you get to take damage end of turn - pop off Tasha’s otherworldly guise and now you are immune to that nasty poison effect and you then use your main action to fly up and give them a taste of your (insert magic wand/staff or blade) to remind them to not be so naughty. Even Blade of Disaster works on this principle. It is meant to work with Forcecage set that Forcecage to go off on your main action and then get that BoD. Then let your villain chop away till PC dead. And yeah it can be dropped by a PC in one turn ! (Though that is really long game! To do it just with character abilities). Love the video.
For the 9th level spell, if you remove the need for concentration then it gets a lot more powerful in one go. It gives the caster more options aside from single target damage
I noticed you said you love Yugoloths. Would you do a video on how you would implement a Arcanoloth into your campaign? I'm putting one into my game but having a hard time trying to role play it.
I enjoyed this video. I agree with all your ratings. BTW Your video quality has increased exponentially. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 And what mic are you using? I dig the red light. And please make follow up video for summoning elementals!
I can imagine a heart Golem. It's created just like a normal flesh golem, but with only hearts. Lots and lots of hearts. Quivering, beating hearts formed into a vaguely humanoid figure. I have no idea how it's different from a normal flesh golem, but, man... it's sounds evil AF...
Seeing as Tasha's added a bunch of spells to each classes spell lists, are there any spells you think should be available to certain classes but aren't? Personally it really bothers me that druids don't get wall of sand and clerics don't get wall of light.
For that 9 lv. spell, there is nothing stoping you from giving this "sword" to a fighter who with 4 attacks will just destroy anything on his path. That spell would be greater if it wasn't the actual spell but capstone ability for eldrith knight fighter. I have to talk with my friend about that.

OMG your so right!! End of next turn would be enough set up!! Daaaaaamn that’s huge!
I was running a mind flayer encounter for my party that was hinted at, and then tashas came out. The warlock immediately took intellect fortress and was able to make the fighter and barbarian resistant and have advantage on the mind blasts lol
I have some cool ideas for dream of blue veil but its definitely campaign specific. It feels like it's meant for a starjammer/planescape game
Definitely would make sense in a game where that type of travel is prevalent, I agree!
My favorite part was "I don't know what that is. Let's find out!"
Hahah I was like hey... I’m in my computer... let’s see!

Yea but then there’s no “rifty” type stuff going on! Totally agree
two minutes, and already recommended. Good thing I subbed
Haha thanks Samuel! Try and give y’all nothin but the best! (Work in progress lol)
Regarding Mind Sliver, the -d4 effect lasts until the END of your next turn, so you can already set yourself up for it without a homebrew.
I can imagine a heart elemental being a giant pulsing monster made of meat and has blood magic abilities. If we only knew a TH-camr who did a video on blood magics hahahha. Fantastic video, Coach
If only!!! That’s a great take on HEART elemental! Like a literal organ! Gross!
Why am I not shocked that my favorite part was the home brew of the sword spell? Great work as always
Slicin and dicin!!!!

Is so hard to compete against wish! So I just went for it lol!

Intellect fortress is a great boost for Bear Totem Barbarian. Resists all damage, proficient in Str & Con saves, advantage on all other saves.
Omg this on a bear totem Druid! YES! Great combo!

Re: Dream of the Blue Veil. Dungeon Dudes had a similar take. It sounds like a plot mechanic not a spell per se. I’ll line in a reply.
th-cam.com/video/ytWVadoWiaM/w-d-xo.html
Ahh interesting to see they lined up with me! Yea just felt off to me too, waste of a space in the book for me
I noticed you said you love Yugoloths. Would you do a video on how you would implement a Arcanoloth into your campaign? I'm putting one into my game but having a hard time trying to role play it.
Oooooo interesting!! I’ll brush up on that specifically and add it to the list!
Love this video format
Was fun to do! Thanks for the feedback!
Use mind sliver to break enemy spellcasters concentration, they’ll take damage, which will trigger a concentration check with -1d4 on their roll.
I enjoyed this video. I agree with all your ratings. BTW Your video quality has increased exponentially. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

I may have to get the book
It’s my favorite book to date! 💜

Damn that’s GROUSOME!!! I see the imagery!
That's incredible and disturbing 🤯🤮
Heart of Aspiration from Library of Ruina. Check it out!
Hey, great video! Fyi I don't think you can use the blade of disaster as an actual weapon, it seems like work just like spiritual weapon
Seeing as Tasha's added a bunch of spells to each classes spell lists, are there any spells you think should be available to certain classes but aren't? Personally it really bothers me that druids don't get wall of sand and clerics don't get wall of light.
Hahaha all we need to know about the star spawn. "Wah!... Okay!" Lol
Hahaha all I need is the visual, I’ll Homebrew the rest lol
Will you be adding your homebrewed version of the Blade of Disaster into a PDF?
I’ll get with my editor and add in that spell to the back of the book! So once we finish the big pdf for this month I’ll do that too! Good request!
Dude I would love to play a game with you as the DM. Great takes on all videos and I like your style.

OMG YOU BLEW MY MIND!! capstone for Eldrich knight??? Woah! That’s nuts!
Blade of disaster should have been the 8th level spell. Perhaps no concentration if 9th level?
Ooooooo nice! Honestly I didn’t even see that it needed concentration... o god! lol
I like blade of disaster as is, if I'm to be honest
blade of disaster should be a litle army like 10 of em that feels more 9 lvl
How do I get that rating system cool image as a sticker for my WhatsApp D&D group?
Email me and I’ll send you the transparent image lol! 💜
Blade of Disaster sounds like Ragna Blade from Slayers.
Blade of Disaster used to be able to use disintegrate on a crit. huge nerf in 5th ed.
Maybe Blade of Disaster should be 8th level
I know right! That would honestly feel way better! Never thought of that!
Heart elemental? Isn't that a ghost?
No Batman?
