    Hi mate!
    Its easy - when you've assigned different drum patterns to tracks and arranged them in track sequencer you have to BOUNCE them (mixdown) to new track.
    lets say you have pattern 1 for intro, pattern 2 for verse, pattern 3 and 4 for fills ,pattern 5 for chorus and pattern 6 for ending - it takes 6 tracks. you have tracks 7&8 free. arrange all your patterns in track seq, arm tracks 7&8 for recording and press BOUNCE under LCD. then press record+play. your drums will be recorded to 7&8...

    • @AlfredoZauberer
      @AlfredoZauberer 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks, but is it not possible to arrange your Midi Pattern (Drums) A & B as a Midi Drum Track in the Sequencer, like you can do it on the BR BOSS Recorders?
      There you can take a Drum Pattern and say START Pattern A from Mesure 03 til Mesure 11 and Pattern B from 12 to Mesure 20 ...and so on!
      And the Drum Part Sound like the DrumKit you choose!
      So why Rendering the Midi Drum Part down....thats makes formy only sense when the R8 can only handle one Midi Part...but i can't belief it, but i don't know it!?
      But that is my question....can you tell me?
      Is it right, that the Midi Drum Maschine inside the R8 can only handle "ONE" Midi Part in your Arrangement...and that's is why you Render them down to a Wav File?
      Or what?

    • @user-ey1xk4sj8s
      @user-ey1xk4sj8s 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@AlfredoZauberer Of cource you can use different rhythm patterns from internal drum machine in sequencer mode - up to 8. Verse can be 1, chorus - 2 etc.
      You just set them on the sequencer grid wherever you want

      Thank for reply!
      Only 8 Midi Pattern per Song Arrangment?
      That is less !
      Why that limitationS?
      Maybe it is a Memory thing?
      8 Pattern is not that much!
      Can you Import your own Midi Pattern, is that Possible?

    Hello!
    Yes, to free up tracks u have to BOUNCE recorded tracks to some free track. For ex. - you have tracks 1-4 recorded and you need ore space - select REC on 7-8 tracks, press BOUNCE button under LCD, rewind and hit REC. Your tracks will be re-recorded on 7-8 track and now you can select tracks 1-4 for something else.
    Dont be afraid - all your recorded takes are in project folder so you can use them any time

    Here are some of my opinions after using a friend's R8 for a week. The pre-amps are quiet enough and they sound OK. The audio recordings are CD quality. The built-in effects and algorithms are very good. The headphone amp is loud enough using Sony 7506 hp's. It's very easy to learn how to make multi-track audio recordings, use auto-punch or manual punch, bounce and swap tracks, etc. .and it's very portable and boots up in 5-7 seconds. On the downside the manual is very clinical that has a "do this" "do that" style but it does not provide any working scenarios, tutorials, etc. I've been using DAWs for the past 12 years and when it comes to editing the R8 gets left in the dust. In a DAW I just drag and drop drum loops and have a drum track in a minute. In the R8 you have to assign loops or patterns to pads and then program a Track Sequence and this brings my work flow to a crawl. IMHO If you have a PC, MAC, desktop or laptop, get the Scarlett 2i2 2nd Generation, download Reaper, and you'll have the real deal and save $100 if you already have a microphone. Finally, thank you Bob for posting all his R8 clips which were helpful.

    • @bobritsky
      @bobritsky  8 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Totally agree with your point! Editing with PC is muuuuuch easier :)
      R8 is great for 2 things
      1. recording away from your PC with soundcard (it fits to guitar bag, no messing with VSTs, DAWs etc. - shortest way to capture your inspiration). I use it to capture my band's rehearsal - sounds great just using built-in mics! - and to write some music when I'm on vacation with family.
      2. its an excellent playback device for backing tracks. I use it to play backing tracks for live gigs - drummer gets click to headphones, I have several tracks that I can instantly turn on|off or change volume - for instance I have song with recorded percussion track, acoustic guitar and keys - If today we play with live keyboardist I just turn of keys track - voila! Awesome! And most important - R8 never let me down, no failures, no errors, no hiss - and on the contrary I know many issues with PC's during live gigs.

    • @fretkillrlives
      @fretkillrlives 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Good points but I want potential buyers to be aware that the R8 is NOT easier to operate than a DAW. Most users aren't recording at the next Burning Man event or using it as backup band. Still. the R8 is amazing portable studio when we remember that 20 years ago an ADAT recorder was $2000 and you still needed mics, preamps, mixers, effect units, and lots of cables. I think it's great that bobrisky posted a clip that demonstrates the whole process of producing a song (project) using most of the features of the R8. Technology marches on and I'm eagerly awaiting the ultimate device that can record all the cool music we "hear" in our heads without having to press dozens of buttons. :-)

    Hi
    you can use only 1 insert effect at once + send effects(reverb and chorus.)
    so to do like you've said after recording you have to select insert effect #1 to vocals, bounce that vocal track (= re-record it with effect to another track), select insert effect #2 to piano etc.
    since you have reverb and chorus effects separately and they can be applied to all tracks simultaneously - that's pretty convenient but of course takes time

    No any concerns on reliability ever. It froze just once when I've recorder whole concert (1,5 hours) in stereo and tried to play and fast-forward it. Maybe too big file.
    I'm using this unit in live gigs for backing tracks on batteries - no hassle! everything works perfect.
    Moving recorded music from R8 to PC is just as easy as using any card reader - just drag-n-drop files from R8 directories to any PC directory. And best thing is that they are normal WAVs - you can play them with no convertin

    Hi Rich and thanks for kind words!
    You have to bounce that drum track to any free track - it will literally record it ti WAV file.
    To do so - arm any track for recording, press BOUNCE under LCD and hit record.
    When your drum track is over, press stop. Then switch R8 to Card Reader mode by pressing USB button and locate recorded WAV file in your project folder. You can use it in any DAW

    You bet! After watching your videos, the manual makes more sense so, I recommend folks do a brief reading of the manual, then watch your videos, and then, the manual becomes more clear and can then be used as a resource to refresh their memories.

    Hello Bob, thanks to your videos I could use right away my zoom r8 easily. Without your videos I studied a long time the manuals before i can use it.
    Thank You.
    I hope that you will do more videos.

      Fabio F. Just i donìt understand ... for PARTA you work directly on track 3 e senquence it ... for PART B recorded on track 4 you create a new track 5 ... why you don't has work directly on track 4 where there was guitar PART B ? ... pratically now you have PART B recorded on track 4 end track 5 (in track 5 allready trimmed ecc.)

    I just ordered this today. After watching this video, I'm sending it back unopened.
    Had NO idea how insanely tedious this thing is. I guess if you have recording experience it might be workable, I don't.

    It's a great video that answers a lot of questions I had AND the song is excellent too!
    The only thing that through me at first was the word "bass" which here is pronounced like "base", which I never did understand why it isn't just spelled - base.
    Thanks again!

    So, you can modify the sound of a regular guitar to sound like a bass right in the machine? Now that's cool!

    • @bobritsky
      @bobritsky  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      yes you can. sound is not really good but OK for draft mix
