One of the best episodes so far from the fourth season that has gone beyond the new horizon. I look forward to watching more because this is by far the best science fiction show.
Great friggin episode. No quarter was given in making this episode the best that they could make it
If I had a slight critique of this ep... the way they brought Charly along with them this ep, I thought for a moment she'd have a bigger role in saving people but perhaps people would call her a further Michael Burnham type character... so probably best she didn't... but I was hoping to get something more so we can start to like her character more, despite her hatred of Isaac.
A number of possibilities. She probably went because they wanted Gordon at the helm of The Orville for the battle scenes, but they may also be trying to show her getting more exposure to the behind the scenes aspects of war. It would have been good to have her see some Krill being conflicted between Teleyah's extremism and their sense of duty.
They introduced her too harshly imo. Shes going to need a lot of screen time for the veiwers to come around.
I have this small "problem" with Charly too. For me she is not likable, but I do not know if it's the actress or the role yet. Looking forward to explore what's coming
I don't know who this Michael Burnham is. Maybe it's classified.
She's an amazing actress, pulling off the "unlikable new guy/gal" role quite well.
The Quantum Core looks a lot like a beryllium sphere.
Well, beryllium is a great neutron reflector (used to create the big fire), so perhaps the quantum drive uses that reflective quality to create FTL. They haven't yet explained how the Quantum drive system actually works. I for one, would love an episode that focuses on engineering, the systems, theory and operation.
I think I figured out a few things for the future of The Orville. I believe there will be a Krill civil war and the Captain will need to go rescue his daughter. And second that John and Talla seem to be making a connection.
That sounds plausible! I really hope it doesn't end tragically for the daughter.

I hope Ed gets to see Anaya again.....so much of this episode was so prescient it's insane. Great interview with Scott and JLee, JP. I like hearing about how technical some of the shots were, eg in engineering with the crane shot (maybe we could hear about outtake/flubs too)

Scott's a great guy. Back years before the Orville, he was at my college shooting a scene for a movie. I recognized him from Robin Hood and asked if I could chat. After he finished the take, he was kind enough to step aside and have a chat with me for a moment. Got a picture it.
One thing I loved about the 'Hugging the Donkey' line was that LaMarr's response wasn't "What the hell is that?", but rather a variation of "Wait, you know how to do that?"

Possibly my favorite episode to date....
I love that these guys are so eager to share that they need a document to know what they can and can't talk about. I will say the most recent episode I noticed a few people get a little prickly over the content due to similarities with current events. While it doesn't exactly bother me I can see people maybe wanting to make comparisons to other shows and their handling of similar issues, but I have to say even though it was a bit close to home, it was still more subtle than a lot of shows have been, and managed to provide a different perspective if you're willing to look past the surface.
Agreed. There were some regressive notes of trying to allude to orange man, but they kept it fresh enough. I really liked the episode. However, last episode... worst of the series by far. That anti-self narrative and regressive collectivism was ham-fisted and trite.
The irony is that these early episodes were written in 2019 and filmed in 2020.

The reason for this is because of your obvious love for the show, informing fans of the episodes and clear understanding of the ups and downs of them trying to get a new season.
You care so much for the show to succeed and I’am glad that they have you behind them.
I personally think you actually deserve a cameo appearance at least.

Praise Avis, it felt so good to hear Bruce's voice once again in a scifi setting... everytime he spoke I waited to hear Mira, Jerry, or Andreas replying (RIPx3). JP If you ever get to interview him, ask if he has more sympathy for Andreas, Bill, and Mira now that he's been through the big alien head ordeal.
It's unfortunate Lisa Banes passed away, because I felt like she was under used in the episode... she's Xeleyan, she should've been opening pickle jars left and right, especially during the escape.
And somehow my ship is still afloat.... why am I like this?!

So far with season 3 I'm missing the Humor that was part of the 1st 2 seasons. What I liked about the show was the oddball humor scattered here and there. Without that I see this being the Last season.

The Krill look a lot like the Jem Hadar.
This is the second episode this season I've had a problem with, from a policy/protocol point of view.
There is NO WAY you go to sign a treaty in enemy territory, in the middle of their elections!
That is Government 101!

Perhaps..... though the Krill did go to Earth, so it seems only fitting to return the trust.

It's weird how they all repeat the same promo about the show being upgraded and longer. Obviously instructed to do that, just wish they would go a little deeper.
But it is early, they all have to be surface level.

It felt a little too preachy... but amazing how the timing all worked out with what is happening IRL! On the flip side, his daughter is alive because of the Krill laws about abortion. I think they accidentally made a pro-life statement, lol.

This episode was a little darker in tone than I would like but it was okay. The fact that it was played the same week as the Roe vs. Wade decision seemed a little sus to me. A year in limbo but just happens to air that very time? No. Still hopeful that we can keep the Orville of old and mix in the new with it but one more political timed happenstance like this and I’m done.
You do realize the airing of these episodes was set up months ago. They posted the airing dates like 4 months ago.

@@travissmith2848 I think this was written back when a couple states was proposing a state bill to require pregnant mothers see an ultrasound of their child before making the final solution decision.

IMO abortion crosses so many lines of healthcare and personal belief that the government has no business playing "Mother my I" with it in either direction, but ideally should be reserved for only extreme cases and not as an after the fact form of birth control.

The first two episodes sucked. The third one was much better, but no comedy or jokes anymore. That seems to be now changed to the bad.
