Nathan you really made the clip like you promised, that's very nice! And I could not agree with your opinion more about pros and cons for owning scooters in Taiwan, especially the sense of freedom, I found it rather hard to have the same feeling while living abroad, yes car is much much safer and yes during harsh climate scooter can be tricky. But riding on scooter on some scenic routes or quick connection in the city, the feeling is... how to say, quite unique.

Nice video - you should have put in a mention for the Gogoro - Taiwan's fast emerging green option scooter. Apparently, there should be more green (electric) scooter options from 2018!

Thanks so much for this informative video. My apologies to ask a repetitious question, but do I need a license from my home country before I come to Taiwan in order to legally own and ride a scooter? I'm from New York City.

outside of taipei sure you need one. but living (or driving, obviously they are useful for places the MRT doesn't reach) in taipei i don't think they are necessary. public transport is great. and for getting around the neighbourhood people should use a damn bike. i honestly don't see the point of using scooters to get around taipei, its bar none one of the worst aspects of living in taipei. they should be getting phased out.

The way they ride scooters in Taiwan is like KamiKarzi pilots in World War II. The chance of being wounded in scooter accidents is very high. Be very careful.

Get a bicycle instead. Safer, healthier and better for the environment. Scooters have very bad emissions.

It is true that a good chunk of air pollution in Taiwan came from its scooters. But given the air quality issue in Taiwan I saw a doctor on TV advice against riding bicycle during traffic hours for one may inhale more than one's share of PM2.5, which is very bad for the health that out weight the benefit of exercise.

There are a lot of electric scooters in Taiwan and they are rapidly becoming ubiquitous. A company called gogoro is very popular, my guess is that it has maybe 10-20% market share in Taiwan. They make electric scooters that you can swap out the batteries of

But Taiwan's vehicle tax and Vehicle Licensing Agency a very backward That suck,Not comparable to Korean!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So I'm very hate taiwan,Even though I am a Taiwanese
