  • Rosy shows how we protect our plants during cold snaps using horticultural fleece. This is necessary with certain varieties.
    Varieties in this video:
    Coronilla valentina subsp. glauca 'Citrina'
    Ipheion 'Rolf Fiedler'
Rosy is a 24x Gold medal winner at Chelsea Flower Show and Hardy's Cottage Garden Plants is widely regarded as one of the premier nurseries in the country for herbaceous perennials.

I’m so disappointed. Ive heard about horticultural fleece for years and expected something extra warm cosy and knitted. Instead its just what we in NZ call frost cloth!!!! I always thought I couldn’t let it touch the plant. Very helpful thanks

When could you cover just the pot and soil? Or is it always best just to cover the whole plant as well as pot if you have enough fleece?

Hiya, I’m considering leaving dahlia tubers in the ground but worried about frost damage. They are planted next to a south facing wall which I understand can help against frost damage. Will fleecing on top help? Many thanks

I just bought some fleece bags with a drawstring at the bottom to protect my Echium Pininana, how long can I leave it on for ?

Live in Surrey BC Canada. Hydrangeas, roses, autumn sedum are all in bud and lenten roses and crocuses are blooming. Now they say this week it is going down to at least -10 c, will this cloth save them?

You might need a thicker GSM cloth. Maybe 100gsm
