    Awsome video again! Suppose running the discharge lines in the tank might have interfered dividers too. The PVC pipes cemented shouldn't develop leaks anyways. Was thinking "discharge valves" on the discharge end of each pump may be useful. In industrial applications, centrifugal pumps have discharge valves to adjust back pressure (and vibration) on the pumps. The valves can be closed in as needed.

    • @AquariumDomain.
      @AquariumDomain.  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    I feel you about multiple lights burning out. From the first time I bought my own home and subsequent upgrades to new kinds of lighting, they all tend to burn out around the same time a few years down the road. The same goes for battery-operated clocks and remote controllers using AA alkalines. They all expire in a wave of death because they tend to be the same age.💡🔋
    For an owner of multiple tanks, running both fresh and marine systems means you will always need twice the number of grow-out / hospital /breeder tanks in suitable sizes for dealing with the behaviour of your stock. That is the challenge for which I wouldn't envy you. It makes me ever more grateful to be able to live vicariously through watching your TH-cam updates. Thanks for putting in the effort and sharing it with the world. More frequent episodes will be great.👍🏼

      @@AquariumDomain. A weird story is I bought one early GE fluorescent light for a screw-in lamp fixture when they first came on the market. I paid nearly $10 even with the one or two-dollar incentive rebate coupon. It soon stopped working, so I chalked it up as an expensive lesson on being an early adopter of technology.
      At the back of my mind was reaching out to the manufacturer to complain. This meant that I tucked it into a bin and moved twice with it.
      Needing to replace an incandescent bulb in a reading lamp a couple years ago, I grabbed this fluorescent bulb and screwed it in. Surprise - it lit about a quarter of the way up along the double tube. Not enough to read by but a nice nightlight glow for the hallway. Over the months since, it has been getting *brighter and brighter. It now glows nearly 90% up the tubes.
      It's certainly NOT the 10,000 hours or whatever the package promised but the ten bucks was worth it to see a dead zombie light bulb actually come back from the dead and sort of improve to half brightness.
      My suspicion is that the lead solder contact at the tip of the bulb was slightly melting and contracting away from the lamp socket terminal. I'd already checked it in a couple other lamps right away to test that theory. Maybe some gas inside needed years to leach out or into place.
      I'm getting my 10,000 hours of dim crappy accent light now after a fifteen-year hiatus. 🤣

    Feel you on losing the fish. At one point in some distant past my 22 inch pacu acquired taste for fish and began mowing through them. I had to put a stop to it. It broke my heart but it had to be done. It was losing 1 pacu vs losing all of the fish in the 300 gal.
    Right now I am about to move all my cichlids into a swiming pool in my dining room. I need to redo plumbing, attach 3d background, fix water level and give myself some breathing room until I move. It absolutely sucks to do everything right but it went all so wrong. My tank originally sat perpendicular to the room its in. Eventually it got moved against the wall... and that room has tilted floor so all the correct plumbing and what not went from 100% efficiency to 50%. Last year I completely replumbed filtration room only to discover that it too has a screwed up floor. As a result I need to do a 2fer of maxing it possible to control height in the tank and then in the filtration room. I have been gathering parts all year. I am dreading the sail date because as you know... once you start... you have to keep going because you are on the clock. At least I got swimming pool on sale. Its normally $120. I got it for $44 since its off season.
    So all in all I need to replumb, replace bulkheads, adhere background and also first time ever I am going to use weldon 16. I am shivering in my boots but it has to be done. Now is the right time to proactively do a refresh on the seams. I had the tank for 10 years and prior to that it was salt water acrylic for however long. I would rather be on the safe side.
    Sending positive vibes for you to get your stuff figured out too.

      I love my big Sharks 😊 they will soon be moved into the 3000 gallon tank and the smaller predators into the 1500 system. Then everyone should be good again. 😊

    How do you determine glass thickness?. I’m am looking into building my first aquarium, however when the topic of glass thickness comes up everyone seems to have a different opinion/answer. It seems almost arbitrary at this point.

    • @AquariumDomain.
      @AquariumDomain.  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I use an old chart that I copied down from the old GARF forums. There is multiple factors that effect the thickness of the glass....ie the glass type, bracing, height etc.

    It’s been great watching this project, but I have got to know what to you do for a living to afford to do and run all of these tanks ? I dread to think whst the electric bill is!

    • @AquariumDomain.
      @AquariumDomain.  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I made my fortune from inventing the Keyboard neck tie 😜 J/K I work in the computer software field. You are correct that electricity usage is a huge concern running a big fish room, but I take a lot of steps to manage that cost. Heating the rooms not the tanks, LED lighting and DC pumps goes a long way to keeping the electric bill manageable.

    Too bad you cannot run the plumbing under the sand substrate at the bottom of the tank.

      Bad news is that my wife has been sick the last few days so slowed me down some on the build, but the good news is that in the next video the wetland filter, lighting, river bank system and plumbing will all be done! Hopefully I will have it out towards the end of the week....then I can finally move on to the aqua scape :-)
