So many great lyrics in this song! Between ON and Black Swan, I feel like they have taken us on the hero’s journey, descending to hell and returning reborn and more powerful than ever.
I know you said it in the video…but for real though… you should watch the dance practices. Especially for this song. The hype that the background dancers and band exude is insane.

10:28 Your reaction to the bridge and the dance break: same brooo 😁 You can also watch the carpool karaoke with BTS and see Jungkook, who sings this bridge, hitting those high notes live without any gimmicks. They are all humble, funny and talented dudes.
They did this in Grand Central Station in New York on "The Tonight show" with Jimmy Fallon. It was really good. They do it straight through live and you see how epic the choreography is.
I've actually come back more than once to watch your reaction to this. Besides the fact that you pause in all the right places, you completely get the depth of the song (that it's not them "complaining about hard they had it" as I have heard from others) but you are damn informative about how it was produced. Props to you.
Here is a run down of fun facts about the ON Coma Prima MV. 1. Coma Prima is a musical direction term which tells the musician to play the same way as the first time. 2. The video was shot at the Sepulveda Dam in LA. This landmark is most famous from GTA video games. 3. The marching band & drum line instrumentals are provided by the UCLA Marching Band, Drumline, & their School of Music Jazz Ensemble. 4. The background vocals are provided by the LA based gospel choir Singers of Soul. 5. The dance crew is from The Lab dance in LA who also were the dancers in J-Hope's Chicken Noodle Soup MV. 6. The woman who has the opening center shot is Sienna Lalau who is the song's choreographer. She also choreographed Dionysus for BTS; God's Menu & Backdoor for Stray Kids; How You Like That for Blackpink; and More & More for Twice (many more but I can't think of them off the top of my head). Craziest part about Sienna is at the time she was only EIGHTEEN! Thank you for reading my paragraph!! 😉
Okay, you may now be my #1 reactor because not only are you completely on point from the video direction perspective, you GET IT so completely (the message) and instantly because you are paying attention and express it so well. The dance break pretty much stuns everyone, I had the same OMG feeling, how can they hit so hard after all that? ON is by far one of my favorite Songs, the lyrics, the message, the Choreographie, the Song, both the MV and the Kinetic Manifesto are so good. I knew you would love this song as well.
yeah same... "choosing to descend into the dark abyss." the moment i saw that line for the first time, i wanted to ponder on it but same, really. the next 10 seconds happened... and my brain just... "descended." hahahaha especially when they changed "find me and i'm gonna LIVE with you" to "BLEED with you," i wanted to dive deeper. bleed with you -- fight with you (on your side) or fight you, cos people look for them for different reasons and fears/bottlenecks can also be approached in two ways - use it as a weapon or trample it down. also, like "bleed with you" meaning i'd feel that pain with you (solidarity) or bleed with you (hit me and i hit back). 🔥💜
I have watched this reaction at least 10 times, your reaction is so passionate that I really enjoy every time. I like this song and video so much and I am so excited to hear that someone is so thrilled. Thank you!!
PleaseREADTHIS!!!First time I saw them was this song but on Jimmy Fallon's show in NYC in Grand Central Station. So for this to be my first performance of BTS to witness...you know I was overwhelmed! I had no idea who they were or what they did or anything. My first K-Pop. And my fav. I became an instant fan. Trivia, the girl in the front row in the middle is the choreographer! This choreography is THE BEST! And their performance is perfection. Just so you know...they do take after take. But they perform at 100 percent each time!! Glad you are finally seeing this. My fav!!! More trivia...Suga wrote the dance break. And Covid hit...their tour cancelled. They have Never performed this for a live audience before. RM said they want to perform it first when they have a live audience. We'll see. Great Reaction. Why not a 10???? Just so you know, I told you from day 1 to watch this video!!!!!!! I told you it was The Best!!! And there are so many versions with variations of set and a few tweeked fun choreography additions. Go find them. They are great. The documentary of the band and chorus practicing for the recording is cool too. The behind the scenes where you see the drones is amazing. Dance practice. Sublime. (I wrote this before you already figured out how many takes they had to do. 2 days of shooting. In the hot CA sun. In leather jackets!)
I love how you try to actually understand and interpret..and also that you mention the various part of discography and praise the directors and the whole team ...bcs they deserve it along with bts
So happy for your reaction. One of my fave songs of theirs. The lyrics helped me so much when I'm going through difficult moments - it keeps me afloat and not to give up. It tells me to keep fighting.
The 1st guy you see is Jimin in white, high voice. Also he is guy who jumps over the other guy (Jungkook) later, throws the object into the air, leads the dance break. Jungkook is the singer at the bridge, and the very powerful dancer in the black jacket the camera focuses on over and over, later in the dance break. Jin wears the blue jacket. Also a high voice with similar range to Jimin, but can really belt when needed. The 2nd guy you see is in the MV is V. He takes over from Jimin, actually a baritone, but has a huge range. The 3rd guy you got, RM, deeper voice. Then Jimin and Jungkook move on across a group of dancers and get behind Jin to continue the piece. This group moves and JHope takes over with a short rap segment with Suga on his right. Suga takes over the rap segment. The bridge is Jungkook. Then Jimin takes over for the break. The camera in the rest of the piece moves mostly between Jimin in white, Jungkook, black jacket, Jin, blue jacket with everyone dancing their heads off. There is a behind the scene on this as well as a documentary on the MV in general involving the UCLA music department. All are quite well done and informative. I also recommend the dance practice which is quite different.
You will learn them by their unique voices before faces, since the change in hair and style will throw you at first especially when they are moving around. Jhope, btw, is the one who dances like he has no bones. Jimin has a sweet, high voice and you will notice his fluid grace, especially when he dances more contemporary (he also does that left shoulder jacket drop a lot). You will get to know all the members signatures 😆
There is a behind the scenes sketch that shows the mv recording with The Lab as background dancers...and a minidoc that tells about recording the music side with UCLA. Both are really worth watching.
I love your reaction. When you think you've seen something great and wanted to react to it, you see something amazing again. You're slipping down the rabbit hole . Enjoy!
There are two behinds for this one. There is a short documentary from the making of the music perspective as well as a bangtan bomb from BTS about the making of the MV. You can also watch Sienna Lalau, woman in the beginning they zoom in on, react to this (she's the choreographer).
I saw the practice videos first and was impressed. But then I saw this…blown away. By far my favorite. I love how you break it all down so that now I know what I intuitively felt. Great review!
You had such a relatable reaction because this blew my mind. Song musically is damn near perfect, the theme is even beyond the surface idea of resilience and gets into Jungs map of the soul ideas with the shadow references, the video the outfits how they used the camera is chefs kiss. The choreography is spot on exhausting and exciting. This is a bit over 18 months (released just before covid) and I think about it slot when people tell me BTS is over rated, like have you seen the levels they go it in the non English songs? The live of this in Grand Central is phenomenal with live singing. Using a gospel choir, the UCLA marching band etc all worked. Loved the reaction.
There's a documentary of the UCLA band playing and recording for ON and also a gospel group doing vocals for this song and also for another one of their songs called friends. The part where jk says "where my pain lies let me take a breath" (let me be where my pain lies) is actually something historical Korean figures would say as a declaration to exist where their pain lies and accepting the pain. I found this to be cool bc we as Americans and non native Korean speakers really don't know how far their lyrics go which is mind blowing to me
This is the mv that got me hooked to BTS. I have watched you react to BTS from the beginning of your journey from a skeptical reactor to this very enthusiastic almost emotional reactor…i feel you. We Armys feel you.
If you like choreography and performance, you’re gonna be blown away by their MMA2019 Dionysus performance. MMA is a Korean Award Show very big in Asia. They had almost 40min screen time with amazing music and choreo and visuals, everything was *chef’s kiss* But if you wanna see just the Dionysus part, you won’t be disappointed
When I was just checking these guys out and saw this video, I stupidly assumed the only way this performance could kick butt like this was because of fancy editing. No way they really danced like this. Derp. Then I stumbled on their practice videos where they go straight through in one shot and that was it for me. I have Soundcheck seats for the LA concert in a month and my whole neighborhood heard me squeal when the transaction went through. 💜🥳💜
Believe it or not, this is not the actual MV for this song. This was like a "choreography" MV version. There is an official MV for "ON" that is more conceptual and has a storyline. We like to recommend this "Come Prima" version in particular to reactors because it showcases their dancing skills and how hard they dance/work, and the amount of effort they put in is more readily visible in this performance piece.
You're absolutely right - this is "only" the dance video, hence the Kinetic part. The mv itself is one long complicated study in Jungian psychology which is why we tend to recommend this version that showcases their dance talent instead. They filmed this in LA in a freakin heatwave (🥵!) and that's the UCLA marching band on the track.
You have come a long way!!! I still remembered your first reaction video of BTS and you were wondering if they had substance, if their lyrics were even good? Etc…. And now here you are loving their music & message & their crafts. I am so proud of you that you continue digging into BTS’ music!! You nice! Keep going!! 💜
I'm not sure how many takes this one had but when they performed the song and basically same routine on Jimmy Fallon in the Grand Central Station it was done in 1 take from what I've heard.
Watch the Grand Central Station performance in Jummy Fallon stat. And the original mv. And the dance practice. You get something different with each one.
This song and choreography is super special to BTS too. Even they have said it is the hardest choreo they've done up to this point and they were SO excited to show it to ARMY live on tour...but then COVID hit 😤. I am REALLY hoping that they perform it when I go see them in LA next month!!! 🙏🏽
They closed down Grand Center Station in N.Y. on the Jimmy Fallon show for On, and Permission to dance was done at the United Nations…if you want just them singing, with no fancy background
6:09 Ernest, if you truly like simplicity, please review Permission to Dance live at the U.N. The song probably won’t be a fav of yours and you’ll find the choreo much simpler. (BTS asked for simpler choreo so that fans could actually dance to it.) Nonetheless, it’s worth your time. It’s an amazing video. There’s no set at all, just the U.N. building and the park outside it. BTS had to re-do the first 90 seconds of choreo in order to dance in between the rows of desks and in the lobby before going outside where they had more room for a set performance. And they did all this between 1:00 AM and approx 4:00 PM on the Sunday before their speech at 8:00 AM on Monday at the UNGA. It was their first international trip since COVID. The sheer joy of performing live shines through.
Well, you finally did ON Kinetic Manifesto ! We knew you would enjoy it. I remember watching it when it was released, and we had to watch it completely without pausing. My heartbeat was at 140 bpm. Once it was over, I took a breath. Then, it was time to go back and dissect it, with the pauses. I got the full original experience by watching it the first time without pauses ,and it was amazing . This makes me wonder if you missed out on that first watch feeling. I get it that you like to pause to catch everything that’s going on, but I wonder if you would have enjoyed it more had you not paused it initially. Anyhow, just my thoughts. We all have our preferred ways of watching BTS content . There is the MV also that you could watch, AND the dance practice if you’re interested. Thanks for this reaction sir.
This song came out right before Covid started to become a global issue. This song was an anthem to get through the last 18 months.
Yep. 2020 Fight Song.

Jimin last part 😘
When the dance break came up....... hasdsagdj you're such a mood 👍
Glad u liked this one. The genuosity flashes through. Loved this reaction.💜
Holding my breath.... waiting for you to react on everything during the dance break! 😁
I'm not sure how many takes this one had but when they performed the song and basically same routine on Jimmy Fallon in the Grand Central Station it was done in 1 take from what I've heard.
Enjoying your reactions!
Watch the Grand Central Station performance in Jummy Fallon stat. And the original mv. And the dance practice. You get something different with each one.
The drum line (for the dance break) was recorded by UCLA's Solid Gold Sound Band.
This song and choreography is super special to BTS too. Even they have said it is the hardest choreo they've done up to this point and they were SO excited to show it to ARMY live on tour...but then COVID hit 😤. I am REALLY hoping that they perform it when I go see them in LA next month!!! 🙏🏽
The other music video for this song really good too.
Also please do Daechwita by Suga(bts)
I believe there is a video explaining the filming/preparation process of the marching band performing here :)
If you are ever looking for another hype song from BTS I recommend Fire. It’s an older one but so worth it.
They do have multiple cameras shooting at the same time (including drones) and still, they had to perform this several times in the heat of LA's sun.
WHAT a great reaction! Best reaction to ON I have seen yet. 🙇🏻♀️🙇🏻♀️🙇🏻♀️
Loved your reaction.. Love from India🇮🇳🇮🇳
The mv is full of symbolism
