This shows that a lot of the time the first few belts (for self defense at least), and the first self defense you learn in general, is usually going to be some of the best you'll ever learn. It's simple, it's effective, and its success rate is much higher than some of these big, very planned out movements. These big, fancy self defense options usually look good to beginners, because they think, "Complex = Effective", but most of the time, you're gonna want to use the simple, effective, and realistic self defense.
EDIT: Of course all of the techniques and self defense you learn is important, but usually, (from my experience), you learn a lot of simple, effective self defense with the first few belt ranks. It is very important to always remember the original self defense that you learn on the first belts for this reason.

my first time competing in tkd, i was nervous because i havent got the hang of various spin kicks my opponent (my friend) knew, but in the fight i quickly learnt that simple kicks in tandem with reflex and perfect timing is all you need, doesnt matter if you know 540 tornado kicks, because a perfectly timed roundhouse kick to the head is just as deadly (plus youll most likely miss the tornado kick as you can see it coming)

    :o
I like comparing these to what my instructor teaches me. It's pretty interesting
As much as it is cool to get the technique down, from what I've learned with a hand to hand self defense situation it's best to be able to block/dodge then counterattack if necessary to be able to get away. Honestly, as cool as it is being able to do a cool takedown, the fundamentals are what's important in the long run. From the first day since I started doing Taekwando again, the combo I've always been taught is block, evade then counterattack, and that's been the most effective in and out of class. We're just taught that same combo with new moves, and taught different directions to move in as we get higher up in the belt ranks.

It depends on target; a closed fist is best for softer targets (nose, solar plexus, etc.), whereas the palm of the hand is better for bony areas (where it is strongly probable that you would break your knuckles). That is the real reason boxers, and MMA fighters wrap their knuckles and wear gloves.

Ive never really liked pressure points. They can kind of work in a controlled setting where there are no stakes, but I don't think they take into account adrenaline. Like a pressure point can cause pain or discomfort, but its not breaking their structure or causing objective damage. I think when someone has a ton of adrenaline, they are barely going to feel it. Also, I've met many people whom we call nerveless slugs. They don't really feel pressure points very much to begin with. I have yet to meet someone immune to a good punch, elbow, or kick to the side of the head. Not to mention if you can reach out and poke someone's ribs, that could have been a more consistent, body shot.

But do you think a normal person without any training would be able to pull that off?
I think we all underestimate how hard it was for us to do the Mawashi Geri at the start. The swinging motion, flattening your foot, turning the heel, etc. I don't think I'm wrong in saying that all of us needed some attention from the trainer to be able to throw it at any level. Not quite 'solid'. The block was also pretty conditional, I suppose? It makes it easier if the other isn't expecting it, but I've tried it with a few friends from the dojo, and the results have been pretty negative.

About these pressure points, I also thought they were useless. I'm taekwondo praticer and one day my kyosanim brought a hapkido teacher to our dojang. He used one of this and that pain was wild, I swear hahah

As an aikido learner I can say that in dome defenses they make, it has an easier version in aikido

At about 4 min: that headlock thing as i learned you hit the back of the head and the groin. I learnt that in wing chun classes so it is most likely kung fu

Great content as usual... only about te gun situation... there is a rule of a safe distance to use the gun against an enemy with nonfire weapons, it is supposed to be 21 fist the minimal distance. So at that close range the use of the gun as an extension of the arm is well implied... i guess?

in terms of military i guess the movement is not so difficult to pull out... the defense seems quite similar to the basic methods of athac and defense with bayonete

Hey Nat I got a question what is more important in a martial arts film: story development and plot or just fight scenes?

    • @thgvn9992
      @thgvn9992 ปีที่แล้ว

fight scene is never enough. Can u just watch a film that it has a terrible story/plot that you could turn off the TV after some minutes watching it or a film that what everyone do is just fighting and then end? I think a martial arts film should have a enough good plot, at least enough to help the people who watching it can understand what is going on and enough interesting
P/S: sorry for bad English skills and using "enough" too much

Both important, good fight scenes are like the cherry on top of a good story plot I think👍

The most important thing to take from this video is to NOT LEARN SELF DEFENSE FROM TIK TOK if you want to learn how to protect yourself find some sort of dojo or something in your area and take lessons there NOT TIK TOK
