I believe that the footbridge to the right is a listed structure. If it wasn't then I would have xpected NR by now to have replaced it with a footbridge with ramps instead of steps and been high enough to allow for potential future conversion of the line from 3rd rail to OLE

How do the barriers stop lowering when people are still walking over the crossing?
Controlled from a signalling centre, and the crossing operator / signaller held a button to stop the sequence whilst the crossing was cleared
