That's what I did then after fastolf rushed and I defeated him I took a huge gathering of villagers and built a second base where he started but I basically captured the sides and took the stone and gold. Built a castle on the river to take out all the ship's and used my dock to trade with red for gold it worked so well i spent four hours turtling it just because it took ten hours to learn the hard ai on just this level..sometimes feels like rng..
Your plan to cripple Fastolf is pretty genius, I tried your tactic from the last mission and crushed bergundy first. But I also took a long time to boom, across the river, and by the time I crushed Bergundy they had ample resources to tribute Fastolf, 42k. Fastolf indeed hits Imperial (for me around 47 minutes) and gets cavalier with upgrades, and run about 7 stables, multiple towers. It was a real chore killing them off, dealing with english castles was much more straitforward. While your mission took around 49 minutes, my first run was a very hefty 5 and a half hours. Definitely a reflection on my skill, but I like your playthroughs because they show a lot of your thought process, thank you.
Yes, I just played yesterday, Fastolf is a menace, he spammed stables, TCS and towers like crazy, getting gold out of thin air. It wouldn’t be a big deal if he rebuilt them after the raids, but he placed them everywhere in random places at a great distance from each other, even one TC in an English castle
Thanks for the walkthrough, mighty Ornlu. Speed is my real enemy. I can’t just boom and win against hordes of enemies if I give them the chance to boom as well.
Andreas Steinacher Yeah I did the same but at a certain point, british kept pumping out knights, longsword and longbow nonstop to fight my knights and rams, not to mention Orange army with cavaliers and rams kept getting in my way. We ended up reaching a stalemate for good 30 minutes before I finally outnumbered them. It was so chaotic with hardly any strategy involved. I was playing on moderate difficulty by the way. I learned from Ornlu that ending orange and purple asap before they become a threat is highly effective, but it requires a lot of microing involved so I guess I just need to get better at it.
I manged to defeat purple and orange with my starting forces. Take your army n land right at purples base. I went straight for the TC and vills and then Any towers in range, also I just built a tc at the first decent location. Purples towers don't have murder holes, so once the tc was down, no vills and towers in range of my Tc n vills was down I sent all my cavalry to the north east of the map to oranges base, I left LA hire to clean up the remaining towers as they don't have murder holes n he heals. Once you get to orange base, take out the tower and any units he's built, then focus on sniping his vills, theirs enough vills for the tc shred all your cavalry so stay out of range and just keep killing of villagers. I stayed near the mill n gold deposit, he kept trying to send his vills there because he had sheep. Eventually I had killed all his villagers. Then killed his tc and ran on home. By this time I had just hit CA at 19 mins lol and was like oh I'm so dead, cuz red has been doing it's thing the whole time. Buttt I read scouting report and red isn't aggressive unless you attack them, they defend but don't actively come after you. Also even though orange is essentially dead, later on very randomly there were 4 or 5 fully garrisoned orange rams that attacked my base while I was off attacking red, this was annoying but after that orange resigns.
This was a nightmare when I was a kid. It never occured to attack first, I always tried to boom first. Also, I didn't know counters... nor English very well (at all)
wouldn't it be more challenging if fastolf's forces would be post castle or post imp and they'd patrol certain sections of the map until a certain timer goes off?
This mission doesn't even work for me on moderate difficulty. If I take care of Fastolf first, Burgundy becomes a problem. If I take care of Burgundy first, Fastolf advances to Imperial age and sends shit my way.
@@NoThoughtAllFeelsThis mission is eazy. Simply rush to John Fastolf's (Orange) base. Kill all the enemy AI's villagers then attack the town center. Once it's over, built a town center on it, boom your economy and advance to Castle Age. Prepare to build a Castle & research Murder Hole in University. This will defend any enemy attack on your base. Then build many Knights & defeat the Burgundy (Purple)
I tried to beat this campaign, but when I tried to destroy the first castle, I somehow lost over 3/4 of my non-siege units and two rams. (I had 7) Then, I lost the rest of the units (including Joan of Arc) except La Hire (since he was garrisoned at my town center) when I tried to attack the second castle.
After you destroy the first castle, Fastoff will attach with huge strong army so I attack 3 castle at the same time, I destroy all gates, tower and barracks first then gather 3 armies of ram and destroy 3 castle before Fastoff appear 😋
Hi , I like your playstyle. Much like mine. There is a Dutch saying that my father always said: "The first blow is worth a thaler (Daalder)". Loosely translated. Don't wait for the enemy to attack you. Hit them first.
what I found is they only have 1 dock, destroy that and they never make another one, but then again I have not been successful long enough on this campaign to see them build another dock. if I go for burgundy first I get destroyed by the English and fastolf, if I go for fastolf first I get taken out by the English and burgundy I feel like my game mode is double speed even though I have checked and my game speed is set to normal, my villagers do spawn faster than yours and things seem to populate much much faster so I feel like your game is playing much slower than mine for some reason. Like I tried to click for click follow your Atilla the hun play through and I literally couldn't keep up with the town centers populating villagers the timing was way different, you would click generate 3 and go off to do stuff go back and still have 1 or 2 left, i would go back and check the same time you did and my 3 were fully produced, harvesting the bores, done before I returned to check on them. It was very frustrating. This play through is no different. However I do know where all the sheep are, they are closer to burgundy on the other side of that rivlet. anyway back to the video, just had to vent.
AoE2 HD and DE uses the AoM's AI as a base for it's pathing. So you can hard cheese most maps by building a castle next to a hole in the wall and 99% of the time they will only attack there. It's extremely broken.
We get lot of time to boom in this one once you take out Burgundy. I was surprised. I thot we will get attacked soon. I had a large army of Throwing Axeman and my secret weapon against those annoying Longbows - Massed Cavalry Archers, who are very effective against Longbowmen, who micro like F. Knights are a popular choice but by the time they reach the Longbowmen they can be frustrating. Longbowmen - you think you have range. My Cav Achers too have range! Also Fastolf' was annoying as F with his taunts. My Cav Archers, Throwing Axemen went to his base and slaughtered him! Cant stand AI taunts! This was a fun Joan of Arc mission. Best of the 3 so far!
An army of rams. How quaint.
I never get what's quaint about rams.
In the German version it's super funny when he says "Ein Heer aus Rammböcken? Wie originell!" with a clear English accent that just sounds hilarious
I used to crush Burgundy first and make my base there , things would be much easier by defeating them first .

make one or more castles in defense and you should be fine, mass up knights and some rams to push

I used the islands south of the river, where the game starts, for farming, wood and houses

I love this particular mission because of how La Hire and Fastolf trash each other. The original AoE2 voices are even better

Same.
imagine how medieval kings felt like😂
cant even complete this mission on standard. the difficulty spike increase compared to every previous mission is literally insane.v

Nice video ;) having a blast with Age of Empires 2 at the moment, love it.
I hate when the AI is like "I have one vill, time to rebuild." and then proceeds to refuse to resign.

The game i stopped playing in my chilidhood when there was only barbodossa and now playing it again with new scenerios
This was probably my favorite scenario of Joan of Arc. I only wish you had to take down all four castles.
I just stayed on the tiny iland and started trading with the red dock , ended up with 20k wood and 15k gold to rush the hell out of the castles xD
Fastolf's original voice was my absolute favourite. So sad how it's been toned down :'(

Who said that attacking Fastolf's army early was cheesing the game?
It's the most basic strategy.

I know this is 3 years later. They do build another dock in another location. I found out the hard way

I did this mission took me 3 hours first time playing the game now I watched how it done i think I can it do in less time now 😅
I just beat it in around that time too😂 I think the biggest takeaway i've learned is you absolutely need siege weapons like rams to take out buildings
how did u manage to run aoe age of king campaign in definative edition?
Can you play the Joan of Arc campaign from lords of the west
Why build 2 tc’s in the same spot? Im new to the game.
_"I dIe FoR eNgLaNd"_
why didn't you just build one or two watchtowers near your dock...they would defend your fishing ships from enemy ships?
nice cheese
