Amartya Sen is the 1998 Nobel Laureate in Economic and the Thomas W. Lamont University Professor and Professor of Economics and Philosophy at Harvard University.

Such a critical , useful and easy to understand lecture from a master gets only a few thousand hits whereas some useless videos get millions of hits in India!!!!
uninteresting videos are viewed by millions but a master class like this only very few it pathetic

@@2rooms19 He already knows the reasons and no one is complaining okay its a discussion.I fail to understand that why so many people get so uncomfortable when any problem is discussed and start asking for solutions.Well I think the answer is that the problem arises due to ignorant people like you who never want to listen and hate any sort of criticism because of your ego and your own image about how great a country India is which it is clearly not.Its people like who are the problem your ego is the problem and the pathetic system which you support is the problem.
@@faizanusmani1039 It think there has been a misunderstanding. I really enjoyed the lecture by Mr. Sen and I support his critcism thouroughly. I am also not an Indian and do not have any nationalist feelings towards India.
What I meant by my first comment, was that he should think about reasons why there are other popular videos and formulate them to his own critque. Because it is certainly not a sophisticated critique, that the problem is that somehow other videos get more views or something like that... the problem lies deeper and it is more complicate than at first glance.. in the end that is what Sen shows too!
One of easy explanation is that it's easy to buy a ticket to watch cinema and dream about the things you want to have Thn actually building those things workings day in day out, painstakingly. Ppl often choose the easy way.

I am so happy that this genius from the goldmine of Bengal has illuminated the world with his enlightened thinking and deep understanding of the underprivileged people.
Now that is an introduction you never want to miss.
Though it has never have any revealation; the AAP government in Delhi has surprisingly engaged in experimenting most of Dr. Sen's ideas with some popular political messaging.

comes after seeing today news Amartya Kumar Sen, Indian economist and Nobel Laureate was awarded Spain’s top Princess of Asturias Award in the Social Sciences category.
It takes courage and an outstanding intellect to give a talk outlining India's real problems.Anybody with a fairly reasonable rationalistic mind can tell that the issues outlined here in this talk are very much present in India.

What an excellent talk. Everything he said is 100% true.

He is an eminent professor of ECONOMICS as many of us know, who is a NOBLE LAUREATE . THE COUNTRY IS PROUD TO HAVE SUCH AN EMINENT SCHOLAR. AS HE CANNOT BE TAKEN TO ALL THE UNIVERSITIES/ COLLEGES, his lectures can be taken to students to create an awareness of such topics.
IT MAY NOT BE AN EXAGERATION TO SAY THAT HE IS NO LESS THAN ADAM SMITH, WHO IS KNOWN AS FATHER OF ECONOMICS.
Possibilities of taking such lectures to college students to stimulate their thinking should be made, by Institutions/ Colleges/ Universities . By making it compulsory with a weekly class to the students to hear such lectures , may help to ignite many minds.
This process may help to build the NATION. People will be self confident to solve their problems.

Inequality in material and physical sense, is a law of nature, God or that Almighty Supreme who makes, operates and even unmakes laws of the physical universe. While all men are equal only in spiritual, emotional terms. A section of recent economics is confused on this inexorable truth and glibly assumes that economists can violate that lae. But Ok, how far have economists succeeded by influencing governmemts to equalise mankind in economic terms ? Nil. Politics or a section of politicians are too fond of freedom of the individual visavis 'authority'. Given these facts, the victims are a predominant part of humanity since they are braineashed by these supergods in economics and politics, and suffer due to them.
