- Capcom revealed plenty of gameplay from the first section of its classic Resident Evil 4, which shows off the total graphic overhaul Resident Evil 4 Remake will be receiving. From the first Ganado Leon Kennedy comes across, to the infamous town Leon stumbles across, and, of course, Dr. Salvador. New gameplay mechanics to Resident Evil 4 were also shwon in the form of sneaking, cover mechancis, quick inventory guns, and more. Resident Evil 4 Remake releases March 24, 2023.

The fact that Leon dropped a "bill me later" somewhat gives me confidence that the cheesey yet lovable one liners are gonna stick in the remake as well.
the only thing it worries me is that, they might have turned this into more survival horror, like the 2 remake. oppost to the more action oriented which was the original. but then again, this is only a clip of the first 20 minutes of the game, so can't really judge it
for real. this looks absolutely amazing but looks very serious. I hope that the 2000´s cheesyness would make a comeback later.

@@zeroglitch13 original Resident evil 4 was more of a action game (the story was like a Hollywood movie and certain stuff were very over the top). the survival horror elements were less in it.. that's why I said that, they might have took this into a grounded approach like the RE2 remake and made it more survival horror
@@v-trigger6137 as long as the merchant is around, you can "action orient" however you want once the cash rolls in. Don't forget the infinite ammo guns unlock will make the NG+ trivial.
I was skeptical but they somehow managed to keep the action and make it more scary than the original!

RE4 and now Silent Hill 2. The amount of pressure both teams must be feeling is astronomical. In RE4's case, they seem to have done it justice. Looking good.

The cow running over the fire and the chainsaw parry with the knife was unexpected and as a result jaw dropping. I love the familiarity of the events but still so different. That’s why I love remakes.

I wish the cow was moving a little bit while you were moving past, seemed like a model at first but the animation no fire was amazing

I’m so happy they are keeping the stun/melee combos! And Leon lighting the cow on fire was pretty badass. It’s nice they seemed to keep the village completely intact.
Yeah stun + melee was maybe the best part of re4 gameplay loop, hope they bring back mercenaries so we can chain melees.
Not only did they keep the stun and melee combos, but you can now defend against Salvador with a knife!? That is so badass. They managed to keep the game terrifying and fearful but they have modernized the combat and I’ve never been this excited for a game before

What about dodging and blocking attacks? That would give the gameplay some more edge but by blocking incoming attacks you would probably still take damage. Come on can anyone else agree with dodging and blocking in the gameplay?

I’m really hoping they change the island up a bit tbh, in the original it didn’t feel as tense or horror filled as the opening areas since all the enemies start shooting rocket launchers and stuff. Felt more akin to RE5

Yeah, just hoping there is a professional difficulty and the enemies don't stand there and wait for you to finish stabbing in that mode. It doesn't look very challenging, but it does look fun

I'm SO happy the contextual kicks when a Ganados is stunned are still there. Hopefully the suplex and other moves like that are still in. When you get into the flow of game play they're such an integral part of combat, since they reward skillful aiming with stuff like room to breath by knocking a bunch of Ganados down or opportunities to save ammo. Glad to see them still around.

agree at this point Leon is suppose to be badass special agent... i was afraid that he will feel like RE2 remake slow rookie because of devs who would try to pander to "surival horror fans" who hate character that can actually move and fight.... which would not make sense story/lore wise for leon during RE4. So good to see that Leon skills and one liners are back.
Think they should have just given us a melee button and make the Ganados more aggressive to balance it out.

This is how I picture RE4 when I started playing it when I was a kid. This is just jawdropping and nostalgic for me, even if they didn't change the village they've managed to improved it and made it scarier than the first.

Looks just like a new mechanic to parry to get out when you are too cornered. Maybe on harder modes they wont show the button prompt and you have to parry by skill but looked really suprising thought leon was about done for lol

One thing I like so far about this remake is that while they are trying to upgrade the horror they are still keeping some of re4s goofier aspects. Blocking the chainsword with just a knife definitely keeps with the originals goofiness

Was bitterly disappointed with RE3 I haven't played RE8 at all, skeptical with RE4R aswell, they have just shown what people wanna see, it's gonna be very different once you play the game. 100%

I still come back even after beating this game multiple times. This trailer was so awesome. I love this game!
Glad that they're bringing back the mechanics from the original like the stun then melee mechanics. They even brought back the overly dramatic "jump out the window and do a super hero landing" thing which I love so much. One thing that we haven't see and NEEDS to return: the satisfying headshot explosion.
And the OG knife.
I’m so glad they kept the close quarter combat system just like in the original 2005 game especially Leon’s roundhouse kick, the gameplay footage shown here is exactly like what the first village fight occurred in the original game albeit now modernized with new quips that made it fresh yet reminiscent.
Hopefully he can still bust out a German suplex too

Me too, actually this modern crosshair is usually buggy, some games (like Resident Evil 2 Remake) the character doesn't necessarily aims to the target which is centered on the screen.

To those of us who grew up with this game especially, it’s funny, it’s like over our lifetime we have our standard gamer hours and then our RE4 hours and both stacks are probably pretty equal if not even a little higher on the RE4 hours side. Honestly I’m never sad to play it again on something else. This just looks unbelievable. Although I was almost certainly expecting a “what’re ya buyin” thrown in there somewhere lol

Resident Evil 4 has been my favourite video game nearly my entire life. This remake looks incredible and I can’t wait on how they expand the world of the Los Illuminados and of course El Gigante’s feet.

RE4 set the bar for over the shoulder action shooters. For Capcom to somehow improve upon what is already considered as one of the greatest games of all time and make it even better just goes to show how much this game is loved. I hope they put this level of dedication to other remakes.
The original didn't really set the bar but kinda invented 3rd person shooter gameplay but there were far better games out there afterwards gameplay wise. The fact alone that you couldn't move while aiming is pretty lame in the original. Not that difficult to improve on it gameplaywise in my opinion.

I remember the opening sequence of the ps2 version to be all washed up cloudy afternoon colors, they clearly made it to look even darker this time. I'm loving it.
I love how at 1:45 if you look closely you can see the Las Plagas spikes moving and poking out of the villager's head while his neck looks destroyed. Can't wait to see the other forms of Plagas.

I thought with how the RE2make and RE3make were handled, this game was gonna lose a lot of its over the top camp that I love to try and focus on the horror, but watching Leon give a cheesy one liner after setting a cow on fire and using his knife to stop a chainsaw swing made all those thoughts disappear. So hyped!
@Real time Entertainment When did I say the RE2make wasn't a success? All I said was the way it was handled got rid of a lot of the camp that was prevalent in the original games and that I was glad the RE4make was keeping the campy feel from the original. No need to get all defensive, my dude XD

But now, I'm pretty intrigued to see more.
I love how it looks like they're blending the gameplay of RE2 with the action of 4 in a way that still looks distinct and new, but familiar to both games. With this and the Silent Hill 2 Remake, 2023's looking to be a great year for horror games.

My theory is that when you enter the first house, you're actually fighting the first ganados and he gets back up to get you in the basement. I think they just didn't show it.
We see him indeed in the trailer and in this Leon enter his room, there's a cut after this.
You can actually tell that is the same Ganado that is shown in this showcase with the broken neck as he have the same model and we can see that he is sitting near a fireplace and it looks like he was being interrupted when Leon enter his room.

Wow just wow. I was afraid they would turn it into a horror game but this just looks perfect and the action is still there! Just make it as long as the original and it’ll be perfect!

Based on what I heard officially and unofficially about this game, this game may be more of a horror game than the OG 4, which was also a horror game in many ways even if its gameplay was more action oriented. But yeah, totally agree with you, about how they respected the original with new gameplay, just like the last 2 remakes, well, 2 more than 3 lol

I literally use to bring my "14 inch SANYO HD TV" in 2006 with GameCube to my best friends just to play this game. This is SO EPIC, they stayed true but just enhanced it!!! Just the new line "Bill Me For The Repair's Later" reminds me of "Where everyone going, bingo?" Luis looks awesome!!!
I hope it has ragdoll and dismemberment physics.
The last scene with the chainsaw guy and Leon's knife was awesome!
That knife definitely will be my go too weapon especially when conserving ammo
The RE engine is proving itself to be this gen's fox engine and always look good no matter how old it gets
