Noco Genius5 Battery Charger and Maintainer Pros/Cons Unboxing and Recharing Battery Review

  • Given I haven't driven my vehicle much for the past year, the mechanic indicated that I should either drive the vehicle more or look for a product to recharge the batteries. It's not worthwhile to get a new battery while it's still good but drained. After doing some research, I decided to look at the Noco Genius 5 Battery Charger and Maintainer. Trying to save money and have a well-charged battery in the vehicle is a good idea. Here I'll share how I charged my battery on my vehicle.

    I have used this on all my 3 vehicles including my 2 Lexus ones. I found if you leave it charging overnight, it will automatically go into maintenance mode when completed. Maintenance mode is when only the green bar is lit on after it's fully charged.
    Note that this unit charges at 5A, there's another model that charges at 10A. Given the response from different people on car forums and talking to mechanics, I can conclude that using the 5A is a safer current level for the vehicle than higher current 10A models. In addition, charging slower would prolong the life of the car battery. I'm not a mechanic so that's my conclusion from my understanding.
    The only cons besides it take longer to charge for the 5A than the 10A is that the price is relatively costly to the 10A price on Amazon.

    I was trying to figure out how to use this noco genius 5. I had borrowed it and didn't have the manual. By far this was the best explanation for using as a car battery charger. Thumbs-up to you !

    Thanks for your review. It’s straight to the point.
    I agree with your manual comment. I expected Noco create a more education and thorough videos on their site.
    Have you used the repair mode?

      Thanks for the comment. I have a need to use the repair mode yet. If you do use the repair mode, I recall seeing people should disconnect the battery from the vehicle before doing it.

    Hey do you have any suggestions how to open a 2019 Honda Civic trunk that won’t open with the key or the button inside

    • @netman88
      @netman88  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Until it's fixed, probably need to access the trunk thru the 2nd row seats down. There's probably a latch that's seized up or something.

    Can you leave terminal connected? Is their a chance of damaging the onboard computer??

    • @netman88
      @netman88  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, it should not since the unit will going into maintaining mode. If not in use, I would just disconnect it though.

    Hi mate. Im going on holidays for a 6 weeks, should i plug in this thing and leave the battery in the car, or take the battery out? Thanks!

    • @netman88
      @netman88  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Some people say it’s safe to take battery out. I seem people leave it on trickle charging when away without issues.

    🛑 Hi, thanks for the information. How long does it take to maintain the battery in an hour ??? And can he repair a 4-year-old battery ?? ⛔

    • @netman88
      @netman88  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Given the condition of the battery, it will determine how long for it to charge. In most cases, I think it will help with a 4-year old battery. I did the same thing on my friend vehicle and it took 10 hours then went to maintainer mode. That's when it's done.

      It takes a four hours cycle to do the 12v repair on a size 24, 550 CCA battery.

    My charger was turned to flashing green (100% charge) and returned to 75%. Do you know why?

    • @netman88
      @netman88  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not sure about the thing you are seeing.
      When it's fully charge it goes into maintenance mode. It's slow charge so it take many hours.

      @@Didine007 sounds like it went to maintenance mode.
