As someone who has purchased my last two cars without having to step foot in the dealership - location is money. My last car was 300 miles away. They just delivered it to me. Just make sure your lender is cool with buying out of state if you attempt otherwise stick to your state.
@@jerseyforhawks good news is I’m gonna leave the video up! Haha But feel free to comment any questions ya may have and I’m happy to give any info thats best to my knowledge!
good to the point summary. know the price from other dealerships, they are not telling you,,,,, you gotta come in to get the price.. you ready to buy....all these dealerships are great till the deal is finalized..
Walked away last week when Dealer wanted to sell the car to me at 8.5% interest rate even though I have excellent credit. Salesperson was so focused on the payment that he overlooked the interest rate during our entire conversation.
For last few weeks I am trying to get OTD price for a new car ( actually two to chose from) from five different dealers by email. They are eager to talk to you in person but once I ask for email there is silence.
@@Nakelp86 ya this is pretty common unfortunately. Mainly because 99.9% of the customers that email in looking for pricing will just take the price to their local dealer elsewhere to buy and never respond to the price email. I would say over 14 years I maybe sent hundreds of emails with pricing and never sold one vehicle from it. You’re best bet is to call in, find a sales person that will actually work with you (or maybe there is an internet dept.) and let them know you’d like to finalize everything over the phone first. The other option is to go to a really high volume dealer that makes deals like this, unfortunately this usually means traveling to get it. I hope you’re able to make a deal and get what ya want!
When I looked for a new vehicle I contacted 6 dealers, told them the vehicle I was interested in. They all blew up my phone and email the 1st day... Got the usual interrogation.. U got a trade? What kinda payment u looking to get in to? What's your credit score? Can you come in today? What kinda down payment ya got? I messaged them all and said only 2 things.. 1- dealer add ons were a non starter. 2- I'll only negotiate the out the door price. 3 of the six stopped communicating with me. :( One of the others actually got nasty and told me that's not how things worked and I didn't know what I was talking about this isn't the 1990s anymore, and I was dumb and passing up great deals. Oof, ya ok bud.
@@000distructzero dang I’m sad to hear you’ve had such a rough time finding someone to actually work with ya, unfortunately a lot of dealers/salespeople have become somewhat lazy or entitled since the lockdowns because selling became so easy, people would buy whatever for full retail and now some dealers think that is the new norm. Hopefully you were able to find someone that actually wanted to earn your business and put in the work for it!
Well finally I got one response and just for that Im ready to drive the distance. It is still not the price I was looking for but at least I have something to talk about, Doc fees and MV fees are on the high side. As I anderstand the Doc fees are calculated into MSRP so this is double charge.
@@Nakelp86 Doc fees 😒 , the last dealer I worked at didn’t charge any and we were proud of that. The dealer before was just $50. But dealers can charge up to $1,500 and also depends on what that includes, sometimes it includes registration, sometimes its just a service charge (which I don’t agree with). If you have a price that a dealer has given you, that is a great place to start. Now that you have a price, it may make sense to call the other dealer and use that as leverage to either save yourself money or to save drive time. You can tell them that “I’m ready to buy this car if you can do this price and I’ll come in and sign the paperwork as long as there are no other surprise charges or add ons and I’ll be your best customer”. The worst they can say is no then you move onto the dealer you are in contact with. This is what I would do. Keep us updated on what happens!
I walked away from a purchase because when I picked up the paperwork to read the salesman gently pulled the papers from my hand and said he would email them to me which he never. Maybe I shouldn't have told him I was a retired accountant? What did he try to bury in that paperwork?
Oh ya, this is a big red flag. 🚩 and I think you did the right thing. There was probably a charge in there that they didn’t want you to see until you had taken delivery and could not bring it back or was hoping you wouldn’t notice. I know a lot of great salespeople and the good ones will let you read the entire contract if ya want to and aren’t afraid to answer questions and concerns. The ones that aren’t willing to dont care about repeat business, they just want the one and done sale. But I think you did the right thing. If it isn’t a hell ya then its a hell no.
@@rapidwisefinancialcoaching well I do believe cash is king especially with car dealerships. The trick is to not them know how your gonna pay this way they can’t change the price on you. Just ask or say “I don’t want to discuss payment, how much does the car cost??” Or simply how much is the car out the door, period?? If they want to sell the car. They’ll accept ur cash offer. If not. Another dealership will. Always somebody who’s hungry to sell. And he who has the green is in control. Always. Otherwise. Walk. They’ll call u in a few days. Guaranteed. If not. Move on
While on vacation this week I looked at buying a used car I was focused on the fit, I’m 6’5” and 400 lbs and some car’s I can’t realistically fit into. I looked at the Ford Maverick and found two car dealers in two different states that both wanted near the msrp of the new model for the used models they were selling. Both were charging extra fees for the “privilege” of buying a used car from them. Both used different terms to explain the fee’s and both were asking nearly $2,000.00 more than the advertised price. In addition the two dealers pricing was very high. A used car with 60,000 miles and 3 years old was only $27,000 not including fee’s, documents title and tags, and financing. A new car is $25,000 MSRP The second dealer wanted $1500.00+$2000 for doc fee’s Two year old car with 40,000 miles It sold in 2023 for 23,000 they wanted $26500.00
Wow, thats wild, the “privilege” fee is a new one to me. Some Dealers definitely believe that the pandemic pricing is the new norm, there has to be a shift at some point though.
Nobody’s gonna kiss your ass, my friend!? Your a sales person you don’t have to take the clients crap per se but at the end of the day you still need to be of service so stop whining. I can guarantee you that your sales manager doesn’t want an 800 credit score to walk out the door just because you got your feelings hurt
Here’s the deal bud, its not about getting my feelings hurt. A rude customer never hurt my feelings, they often gave us fun new stories to talk about on the lot. This comment proves that you’re someone who thinks that a salesperson has to kiss every customers @ss. The most important lesson that I learned in sales is that you don’t need everyone and you most definitely do not want everyone and you can spend way too much time with the wrong person. A customer that is extremely rude will be more problems down the road than is worth it, theyll always complain, make nonstop demands, act entitled when they want something and tank every single survey they receive meaning less pay for the employees. I (and many managers) were happy to let those few people be someone else’s problem. Credit scores mean nothing when it comes to how people should treat other people. I’ll take a 520 and a decent person over an 820 that has a trash attitude like this.
This video is not good. No talk of out the door pricing, nothing about getting dealers to compete with each other, nothing about frivolous add-ons. You’re missing sooooo much. You could have left out a bunch of fluff in this video
