Hey Cane, you asked for some tips so here we go!
Don't be afraid to aim off the fairway/green to account for the wind. I noticed a couple of times when you aimed the marker close to the edge and then missed on the other side.
A shot at 100% power is easier to hit than a partial shot. Before you start bringing the marker backwards, maybe switch club to check if it goes where you want.
If you add spin/curve to the shot, the shot becomes more difficult to hit, the window for a perfect shot becomes smaller.
For a right hander, a fade goes from left to right (it fades away from you) and a draw goes from right to left.
If you add height, the ball is more affected by the wind. I saw another good comment explaining the trajectories of the different clubs.
You can putt from the fringe if you change clubs to the putter. You can also chip from on the green, but I wouldn't recommend unless there's something in the way.
I'm really loving this series so far and I'm excited for it to continue.
Big fan of both golf and your channels. Until next time 🇮🇪🤝

You get what you think is a great shot, then you somehow get screwed by the weather, or you hit what you think is an awful shot, and it works out to put you closer to the pin than a good shot would.

Local golf guy to the rescue Hurricane. Been playing real golf for 30+ years now and love that you are doing a golf series. After watching this video I have a few suggestions on helping improve your game:
    1. Just because you CAN shape your shots and use spin doesn't mean you need to. Get use to normal shots first and then add those things back in.
    2. Use the range to get your swing under control. Maybe try holding the controller different and using a different method for stick movement.
3.Wind - on a green approach, use each square as 2 mph of ball movement. So a 10 mph wind from right to left you would need to aim 5 squares right of the pin to compensate.
    4. Hitting into the wind, if you can go up a club, do it. Use the same info as above on green approach.
Hope all that helps. Don't want to sound pushy or try to tell you how to play your game, just trying to get you having fun cause I love the series.

MLB 2k had a similar mechanic with pitching (I think it was 2k 5 or something) where the accuracy of the pitch depended on your ability to keep the analog stick straight. I'm sure it frustrated people but I really liked how it simulated just how incredibly hard it is to have pinpoint accuracy.
Can't speak for NBA but other 2k games I've played always did a great job at using simple controller mechanics to really recreate the feel of playing the game.

love this series so far cane. as a golfer not pro obviously a 2 putt should be your goal ! you should always think about the next shot not the last , and i would say your irons and wedges are more valuable then you have used them especially w this game accounting for power in your speed of stick

  • @BreakingtheDeadlock
    @BreakingtheDeadlock 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

Keep doing these! Definitely do 2 rounds per episode.
I would also suggest learning more about how to change each shot - for example, driving with a lower arc on larger greens means it can roll farther, and using a higher arc on small green par 3's will be invaluable. Same with using draw to get around obstacles, flop shots to stop the ball on the green, etc. Just keep playing around with the many ways you can manipulate the ball!

  • @tp3908
    @tp3908 2 ปีที่แล้ว +9

Hey, Cane just wanted to show some love to the series. I played golf in high school and at the start of college so this is reminiscent for me. The best way I can describe the types of shots for you is a "flop" shot is a shot that has a high arch and elevation but not much power and is just supposed to sit and not roll when it lands. A "punch" shot is a lower more line-drive type of shot used to get under trees, etc. When your chipping the idea is to chip short of the hole so that it has the chance of rolling in, don't try and chip straight into the hole. One last tip that may help is lower down you go in club the higher elevation your shot will be and less the power you have. So the driver is high power/distance but not extreme elevation. Whereas your 9 iron will give you more elevation but a shorter amount of distance. Your pitching/sand wedge will give you the most elevation. Hope this helps! Love the content!

Loving the series so far, I've not played PGA Tour 2K/The Golf Club but I have watched a decent amount, and I played a ton of the last Tiger Woods game so I have some tips and info I can share.
    - The ball roll in this game looks like a lot, so I would aim shorter on your approach shots to the green on Par 4s and 5s. The ball rolls less the shorter your shot is and the more downhill it is (and vice versa), so keep that in mind. Also about that crazy shot on the last hole of the 2nd round that somehow worked, a flop shot (short but high arc) would've worked best there due to the hill but I think you can only do a flop with a wedge club, you were selecting a hybrid/5 iron which is much too long for that.
    - Chip shots have more ball roll than other short shots, so also aim shorter for those. Usually it's better to be short than long!
    - On the green you're doing a decent job judging the break. For shorter putts (

    Mr Cane,
Firstly Go Vikes! Secondly you aren't necessarily bad at this game (except for the putting :D ) but it is clear you've never played golf before. I noticed some other tips in the comments section but here are a few that I haven't seen:
Approaching the green 1 - When hitting to the green take a look at the flag. If it's close to the front edge of the green then maybe try to hit the ball slightly past instead of risking being short. Similarly with hazards around the green like bunkers.
Approaching the green 2 - Try to always leave your ball at the same level as the hole or slightly below it. That means your putt will be level or slightly uphill which will help your putting.
Putting - Work on the speed of the putt first. I've not seen you leave many short which is great but you have smacked a fair few past the hole into more challenging distances. Ideally you should be looking to leave the ball no more than 2 feet from the hole IRL but the game makes it look like 3 foot putts are pretty much "gimme" level so that should be your limit.
Fade/Draw - Someone else posted about the difference in shape, what they didn't post is that a fade is hit with backspin so the ball will tend to have less distance on the carry (the amount between the point where you hit the ball and where it landed) and less roll (the distance the ball rolled after hitting the ground). With that said about the fade the inverse is true about the draw which has forward spin applied.
Chip/Pitch/Flop - As a very, very rough guide, a chip travels about 20 to 50 percent of the total distance in the air, a pitch about 50-80 and a flop about 80-100%.
Golf is mostly about course management. You hit the least risky shot for the maximum reward. On any given day your "least risky" shot may change due to course conditions or also how you're feeling. Most people are significantly better golfers when they think 2-3 shots ahead. Having said all that, and all of the above, it's a game so get out there and hit some BOMBS! Chug for each double!

Very much enjoying this new series. Also, a tip regarding chipping from the rough to the green. I always tried to leave it either short but with forward spin on the ball to let it roll to the hole if I am far from the pin. If I am close, I try to chip and give the ball back spin so it doesn't roll to far from where it hits. Main thing to remember is to aim small and miss small as best as possible. Finally, from what I observed today you are putting the ball a little to hard. Try to ease off of the power just a tad and let the greens help do the work. Other than that, just remember to have fun as I very much enjoy a good golf game.

I think with the high wind courses, you have to more to the left or right depending on how high the wind is, if the wind is going to the left, you basically need to aim off the green to push the ball back to the hole. Same thing if the wind is going to the right, need to aim way to the left of the green and push the ball towards the right or wherever the hole is. It’s about trial and error. You will get it

I have not played a golf game in close to a decade, so I can't speak to the controls or mechanics, but I can provide two suggestions for strategy:
    1) You shouldn't always use your driver when teeing off. For one, you'll have more accuracy on your drive if you use a shorter wood or even a long iron. Also it's much more important to set up your approach shot to give you the best angle and distance to the hole rather than simply trying to hit it as hard as you can.
    2) If the pin placement on the green is difficult, you're better off just aiming for the heart of the green and two putting rather than risking your approach ending up in the rough or a bunker. Be more aggressive on holes where you have favorable pin placement, but otherwise it's best to pick your battles.

It is also possible to make the courses harder to play if it gets to easy. Also as for some tips. When you hit a shot fast it will pull to the left and a slow shot will go to the right. If it is very fast or very slow, it will also lose distance. Also pay attention to hitting out of the rough and if it is deep or light. It it will not come out the full distance in the heavy rough.

You have to look at the speed of the lines on the green. Your put on the first hole was outside cup left side, yet you aimed a foot wide. You have to spend a little time setting up the putt, I count according to the line speed. I grade the gradient into 1-4, 4 being the most, that might give you a formula as to how much to adjust the line according to gradient. I sort of work towards the hole 1 square at a time.
Remember that the faster a putt travels, the less effect the gradient has on the line of the ball. Uphill the ball tends to move more than downhill but will stop quicker. Lots to learn.

Hey cane love your vids… i have a few tips:
Being fast will cause your ball to draw or move left and being slow will cause your ball to move right of your target so can you use that to try and control your misses when you swing. In general slightly fast your ball will carry further and and slightly slow your ball will carry slightly less.
Being in the heavy/light rough will cause your ball to roll out more with little spin while being in the fairway you will generate more spin and your ball tends to stick more. Also the wind will affect your spin so being down wind you cant spin the ball as much (harder to stop) and hitting into the wind will generate more spin (stops quicker). And your longer distance clubs will generate less spin and roll out further.
When shaping your shot (holding L1) your left stick controls the trajectory and right stick controls the spin. Moving right stick down creates back spin but this will cause your ball to hang in the air longer and be affected more by wind. Vice versa for up on the right stick.
Last thing based on this video is making sure the type of shot before you shoot (top right ui) a chip shot will generally roll out much more than any of the other shots so be concsious of that as well.
There is definitely a learning curve to the game and a lot of nuances, so once you learn you can really get good. Im really excited for the series good luck!

All I can say is learn 2 things to help your mid-short game, learn how to flop and pitch. Putting is a feel kinda thing that comes with repetition. Also, for every 10 yds of elevation go next club up but this is also a repetition learning process. The feel for distance gets easier with time just like batting does in baseball as you know.

This has been super entertaining to watch! I've been looking at this game for a little bit, but was unsure because of the user reviews and have been waiting. Seems like single player career mode is perfectly fine! Any input? I want this game lol

Also worry about getting on the Green putting before getting as close as you can to the hole. You’ll have a lot more room for error and lower scores

More episodes please. It's funny watching you putt. In my head, I'm going: a little more to the left, a little more, too much, you are going to miss left. And then you miss left. I can't even explain how to read the green. You just have to play the game more.

Maybe next round you should try the 3 point swing system, it might help you understand all the shots better too

Can you preview your putt trajectory like in 2K22? That really helped me out with my putting but I have no clue what I had my difficulty set to, I don't know if you can't use that on higher difficulties

Send Adam over to the UFC after this. If that fails have him go to the MLB as a pitcher. If all else fails, you create him in that area football game you got lol

Try doing more flop shots around rhe edge of the green. It will stick closer to where you aim vs a chip that rolls for a bit.
