  • BlackSeaRC presents the first video in a series looking at the new Rastar Bugatti Divo 1:14 scale radio-controlled hypercar. This video includes unboxing, close-up look at all details, functional testing and assessment of good/bad points.
If you are a hypercar fan, then the Bugatti marque has established itself as one of the leaders in the manufacture of extreme performance automobiles. This latest Divo is a limited edition car based on the Chiron platform but with its own unique bodywork. It was designed to give ultimate track performance in a fully road-legal package. Named after French racing driving Albert Divo, who drove for Bugatti in the 1920's and 30's, it incorporates advanced aerodynamic technologies to produce huge amounts of downforce. Consequently, it is quicker around the track than the Chiron but has a reduced top speed.
In future videos in this series, BlackSeaRC will take a look "under the skin" of this RC hypercar. We will find out what components a modern Rastar RC car uses by reverse engineering this Bugatti model. See it here: • Reverse Engineering a ...

Yes, I agree! This Bugatti is a particularly good example because the real car has a lot of crazy details and they are replicated very nicely in this fully-licensed scale RC car. It also has the opening doors that sometimes Rastar includes but other times they don't provide this feature. This allows the Divo to be used as an excellent display model when you are not driving it.

Very nice review. I really love the way how this Bugatti Divo looks. The best thing about Rastar RC cars is that you can use them as model car, for a display or decoration as they are very detailed.

    • @BlackSeaRC
      @BlackSeaRC  2 ปีที่แล้ว

That is true, the Rastar cars are detailed enough to make great display models. The downside is that with so much detail you are a little nervous to use them as RC cars in case you damage the bodywork. I always make sure I have a good flat surface in an open space when I run one of these hypercars.

@@BlackSeaRC You really have to be careful when driving one. I have had some close calls, and I even accidentally hit the front of my LaFerrari into a table, but thankfully it didn't do anything major to the front of the car. Thank you my friend! It is great when Rastar decides to use opening doors. Of course, some people say what is the point of having opening doors on a RC car but most of the time it will be displayed on the shelf and opening doors really help you to appreciate the interior details. I have some models that have great detailing on the interior but it is almost impossible to see because the doors don't open.
I am in the process of "reverse engineering" this RC car so you will be able to see exactly how one of Rastar's newest RC cars is constructed. That video will be coming later on this channel, BlackSeaRC.

As you know, I am a fan of scale realism and if a car is officially licensed then it is interesting to check the scale model against the real car on which it is based. I research each car so I know why certain detail are on the RC version and what they are there for. For example, the slots in the wing above the front wheels are there to let out hot air generated by the brakes when working hard around the track. It is also interesting to find out the performance characteristics of each vehicle and I must say, the figures for the Bugatti are incredible. It is an amazing piece of automotive engineering! Glad you learnt some new things!

Thanks for watching and commenting. Rastar is one of the better brands for this kind of product because the models are licensed by the real manufacturers and because they have a high level of detail and scale realism. However, you can't get away from the fact that this is a "toy grade" product. It uses basic non-proportional controls and therefore its performance and drivability is compromised. For the price it makes a great display model and an occasional RC car but for regular RC use you need to spend a little more and you can get something much better.

This car was made in a limited production run of 40 units and is fully road legal. It was only available to existing Bugatti customers though. The final car was built recently in July 2021. The Divo is based on the platform of the Chiron but it has its own unique bodywork. Both cars have the same power output (1500PS) but the Divo has a restricted top speed (Divo 236mph, Chiron 261mph). This is because the Divo is designed with high downforce aerodynamics and is faster around the track whereas the Chiron is more about straight-line speed.

One thing which makes me sad is that most of these very detailed RC cars are usually bought by the parents of kids, and many of the kids don't notice, or care to notice the immense details of these RC cars. And most of the parents also don't care to see what the car model is based off. I got my Rastar RC car as a gift by a relative, and my parents didn't even care to see how detailed it is. I think there is a market for a fully proportional RC car with a detailed licensed body like those produced by Rastar. That type of transmitter and the associated electronics wouldn't even cost substantially more. Add to that a modern rechargeable battery with USB charger and you have a much more attractive product. With regard to the chassis I would also improve the suspension. Steering would already be vastly improved with a proper mini servo and proportional control.

With these Rastar products, I usually put new batteries in both the handset and the car, switch on the car and the controller should work right away. As the handset doesn't have an on/off switch, you should put batteries in there first before trying to switch on the car. I have never had any sort of delay and these RC models don't have a system to "bind" the transmitter to the receiver like a "hobby grade" RC system would have. The company realises that a lot of their customers buy the products because they look great and they want to use them as display models as well as RC cars. Of course, when they have so much detail they can be easily damaged and I suspect that most people use them carefully. Whether you get a supercar or an SUV, the drivelines are similar and at the speed they operate at, the aerodynamics and weight variances will make a negligible difference to the performance. Consider that the top speed is less than 10kph and the steering and suspension is very basic. Yes, there are people who would like greater performance and it is possible to modify these vehicles with hobby grade electronics to give fully proportional control and greater speed. Obviously, a single LED bulb is cheap to install and on most cars this matches with the shape of the real light much better than on this Bugatti. This happens at the rear as well sometimes. For example, the McLaren cars often have interesting rear lights but Rastar always uses single bulbs. Perhaps they could use a clear plastic lense that better spreads the light.

Hello there, I have considered buying a Rastar RC car in the smaller 1:24 scale just to check its capabilities. I think I will look to see what interesting models are available at the moment. Thanks for the suggestion!

If you are interested, I just reviewed a 1:24 scale RC model of the Ford F-350 Super Duty pick-up truck. It is not a Rastar product but is the Hoffmann brand. I also hope to add some Rastar 1:24 scale products to the BlackSeaRC collection in the future.

For your reference, I shall be reviewing the Rastar Bentley Continental GT Speed in 1:24 scale soon.

Yes, it has white LED lights at the front and red at the rear. These only operate when pressing either forward or reverse on the handset (i.e. they are not on all the time).

@@asadkamal3313 No problem. I must say that it is nice to have lights but I would prefer it if the front and rear lights came on at the same time.

The Divo hypercar is based on the Chiron platform but has unique bodywork. The Chiron was the successor to the Veyron. Both the Chiron and Divo were named after successful racing drivers. Only 40 units of the Divo were produced between 2019 and 2021.

    HOW MUCH???

I bought the Divo for 2029 RUB (approximately 20 GBP / 23.5 EUR / 27.5 USD) but this was a discounted price. Standard price is 3999 RUB but on these cars I virtually never pay full price as there are always offers of some kind if you wait a little bit.

Bugatti has some unbelievable cars but the Chiron Super Sport 300+ is just an amazing piece of automotive engineering. When you look at the specifications, the numbers associated with Bugatti products put other hypercars to shame.

The Bugatti Divo is an incredible car and you get a lot of detail in the scale model. That makes it much more interesting than some other supercars and hypercars. Hopefully Rastar will also make a model of the Bolide in the future!
