      Yes, this is a crusting buttercream. And yes, I use this for my semi naked cakes.

    This looks like a great buttercream - the texture looks perfect - I'd like to know if you have ever used high-ratio fat shortening instead of butter....I'm not a fan of the butter taste or the off white color of regular buttercream, so I switched to the high ratio shortening - doesn't leave a greasy mouth feel.....any thoughts or have you tried?....and thanks for the awesome videos!

      You’re welcome! And thank you! And yes, I actually use a high ratio shortening buttercream as my main buttercream 😁 My customers love the taste, it’s great for piping, and holds up well to heat. My recipe for that one is here: th-cam.com/video/aiutyacPm6k/w-d-xo.html

    I would like less sugar on my butter cream. Coz the older people dont like sweet cupcakes and diabetic people dont like sweet at all. How much do I lessened the powder sugar? The cupcakes I make is not that sweet like others. It perfect that I am told.

      I have to make 2dozen sugar cookie kits for my daughter's 1st grade class. I gave up on royal icing lol. So I wanted to try using buttercream instead but never used or made American buttercream, in fact never actually made cookies, yes I know 😬😳🤣. I got the cookies down but now trying to figure this buttercream thing out lol. As momma's we ALWAYS got this right?😉

      Have u ever mixed butter and shortening in your recipe?..
      Is that possible to do? What ratios would u use? Thank u❤

      @@dcordero1984 yes, you can mix them. You can just substitute shortening for butter or butter for shortening. I like to add butter extract if I use only shortening.

      If you want it to be smooth and not gritty, it’s best to use confectioners sugar that is made with pure cane sugar. Other confectioners sugars are made with beet sugar and that tends to be more grainy.
