this is by far the best rendition of this song I've heard tied with the Bernstein version. i love the take on it and theres some parts that usually go unnoticed that i really enjoyed. the pacing seemed extremely good with some parts of this song in other versions feeling to take a little to long but in this its just right!!
Yes, of course! This (Gershwin) was my entry in "classic music" as a teenager (about 42 years ago ;-)) and it's always a pleasure to listen and enjoy. Great performance & thanks for this!
@@NDRKlassik I have a German friend who would go on and on about how American orchestras can't properly play music by German composers because they can't play it "idiomatically." I've heard many very good classically trained trumpet players try to emulate Mariachi style when playing Mexican themed music, and get it way wrong by just trying to play it sloppy without spending any time to discover that the style is evolved and finely honed. It seems like you are trying to argue that music is not culturally rooted?

Thank you, much appreciated! :)
Is that Andreas Blau playing flute? I thought he retired?
Yes, he is :) And yes, he retired as principal flutist of the Berlin Philharmonic.
lovely listen but honestly exhausting to watch...the skill and vigor required here is beyond my comprehension.
Thank you for listening. ☺️
Do Germans like this stuff?
Don't think that would be a matter of nationality, wouldn't it.
