Salute and respect to all the guides and porters that makes the mountain climbers ‘ expedition much much easier and memorable. Kudos to them and they deserve a BIG FAT tips (which i did) 😊
Congratulations !! You have reached the summit of Mt Kinabalu.. You are very lucky because the weather is beautiful. Before climbing Mt Kinabalu you have to be fit because although it is only 6 km and seems not very far but Altitude Mountain Sickness or AMS will break you and make you tired. Some will get headache before they reach Laban Rata (6km).
@@EddieExplores Not really.. you'll be too drench and cold before reaching Laban rata. If it rains at the peak, you might not be able to climb because the trail can be slippery and the wind can be too strong.. The stairs are ok but can be slippery at times.
Please do not listen to the guy that said you can eat the pitcher plant 7:32 while its not harmful to consume it, there is no significant nutritional value from it and it is not commonly consumed. aside from that you will only do harm to the pitcher plant populations as many of it species are threatened or endangered. i hope this make things clear. and btw thank you for visiting Sabah. i hope you will visit us again soon.
Thanks for clearing that up. I think what he was saying is that people cook rice inside the plant but I am not 100% sure. Thank you for having us, plenty more videos to come from Borneo!
Great video, I climbed Kinabalu in March 2024 so this brought back good memories. It might interest viewers to know that at 34:42, there’s a white patch on the mountain which is where a large rock fell off during an earthquake. You can see that rock below and to the right in the same view.
A very good guide video for those planning on climbing Mt. Kinabalu. The interaction with the guide and the expressions along the way provides a good feel for a potential climber. Congratulations to both of you on your successful capture of Mt. Kinabalu.
The view is stunning! Even I'm a malaysian myself I don't think I'll have the will and strength to do that 😂, so thank you for documenting this and taking us along throughout the journey and allowing us to bask in the experience as well. Wellcome to Sabah, happy scaling the only unique mt of the tropic. It harbours the mega Bio-D ether flora or fauna. Have climbed few times and happened to observed the most beautiful scenary was end of April to early June when mass flowering of rhodendron trees, the trees you called bonsai. If you may notice the peak as your background photo looks like the head of batman or for Sabahan a picture of orangutan. If you may explore more, we have the highest tropical trees at Danum Velly. It is there you may see how we preserved our prime forest. The Maliau basin are another nature to explore, it is known as the 'lost world of Borneo' and not less amazing is the Imbak canyon
Rhodendron trees! Thats the one. They were so cool I absolutely loved that part of the walk. Thanks for watching and for the recommendations, plenty more videos to come from Borneo!
Hey congrats! Btw if u want the more raw hike, just go for the Mount Trusmadi.. the second highest mountain in Malaysia. Also in Sabah. It’s a grade A forest with raw pavement. It is not ' bubur caca' guys .It is mung bean porridge ,cooked with coconut milk and pandan leaves.Bubur caca is a porridge with multicoloured wheat flour dough strips.
I went to Kinabalu park in 2013 to see how the climbers were doing. At around 3.00 p.m I saw the climbers coming down to the finishing point at Timpohon Gate. The tired looks on the face of each arriving climber was, evidence enough of this arduous adventure. And then an Australian guy was brought in on stretcher carried by 2 porters. They laid him down on the floor at T.G., and so I got to interview him. He pointed to his ankle which was severely swollen. He had twisted his ankle on the way down. He refused to remove his shoe as he was worried the swelling would get worse. His GF and friends were far behind him and we're on their way down. He had to wait for them, and then get proper medical attention. BTW, he needed to pay the Porter fee for bringing him down the mountain. I can't remember the actual rate, but it was a few hundred Malaysian Ringgit per KM.
It certainly isn't for the faint hearted. The last day where you climb to the summit and come all the way back down again is savage. Respect to the porters for carrying him down.
