For everyone hating Mari, I mean I sympathize to that hate at some level, but I actually quite enjoy Mari. As a character, I feel like she has incredible depth, and is probably the most relatable character of all. She symbolizes that part of ourselves that hates change, and worries about those close to us drifting off. Which is probably why I feel like people hate her selfishness so much. It's just a part of ourselves that we don't like to acknowledge.

She's only being selfish because she's scared to be left behind...she said that Anna's the only person who understands her so she's scared that if Anna fell in love or something she'll forget about her...Mari's the only relatable character for me tbh
Ngl Marie and this redhead are the main couple for me in this anime. Their chemistry is much more intriguing than any other. Other couples are cute and nice but this one has something different

I hope she comes to realize that socializing/interacting/befriending other people will not affect her friendship with Anna. I hope she will realize that Anna also wants to befriend other people and that she enjoys spending time with them also. I understand that she wants to be with Anna maybe because she's not that good at socializing or that there's an underlying reason as to why she's behaving this way.
I mean, one way or another she'll have to accept that fact. She WILL have to accept changes, everything will eventually change no matter how hard you try to protect it. Either you adapt or crumble, that's your choice
