This build is off the scale, I have binge watched the whole series. I found your channel by chance as the first CR500R I ever owned was an 87 which I brought brand new as a 19yr old. I absolutely LOVED that bike and in my humble opinion it's the best looking Big Red ever produced. I have owned and raced 12 over the years and still race a 1996 today. I note that you have sourced a lot of parts from RJP, James is the font of all knowledge when it comes to Evo Honda's, he has really helped me rebuild my 96.
The level of detail that you have gone to is awe-inspiring, the frame chassis plate is just incredible.
If I had one criticism (and only one!!!) The cable cover /tidy you used for the wire running from the stator to the coil is ugly, Honda just ran the wire up the frame without a cover, cable tied to the frame and I have never had a problem with this set up on any of my bikes.
The engine hangers that you made by hand are fantastic and actually look OEM.
Keep up the amazing work, I love these videos. Thank you.

Thanks Paul. I really appreciate your input here. Each comment helps in one way or another. The cable cover is one solution to what was some iffy cables from previous damage and I didn’t really want to resolder new ones but I’ll look at the best way to do this if there is a cleaner way. Really cool comments!

That’s the most unique looking exhaust I’ve ever seen I think Rob. The bike’s coming together nicely. Looking great. The old iMac is coming in handy again I see👍🏻. The Waterboys looking and sounding great as well.

Been looking forward too this next episode. Dont forget to get back to me on the Y peace radiator hose for the radiators. I tracked down a 1985 pipe for my restoration so would be a great help if you could spair it. Love the work also

Man I bought an 88CR500 in 89 that was raced at the national level the previous year and fairly soon after I looped it out and it landed and kinked the pipe slightly, that took a little bit off the power, not enough to be insane at times but I left it that way until just before I sold it put a new factory pipe back on and it was back to a fire breathing dragon, the more you bagged it the more power it seemed to produce, anyway not sure what I did with that pipe, who would have known they would be in demand 35 yrs later, last year of the high pipe

I’m genuinely nervous of this bike. Mostly me! I think I’ll do a video just on restoring that pipe 😮

Subscribed, appreciate the skills and motivation to bring something back proper, I'll be following this closely, the chain came off and hit the case one day but not nearly as bad as what you had to deal with, these things felt like a long unplanned hospital stay at any moment, have an IT465 now but would like to get another 500, it isn't nearly violent enough power delivery
