This channel has really turned into something so amazing, not that it wasn't before. This 5 Acre Pond series is my favorite thing to watch on youtube. I wish a trend of pond building would take over on youtube but you have to be truly passionate and financially successful to do what you're doing. Please never stop this series I will be here the whole way.
I agree, the videos are entertaining and compelling. I always watch the entire episode, rarely speeding it up like I do for many other channels. Kinda nature, kinda engineering, kinda cool, and definitely subscribed. 💯💎🤓👍
We have so few bats in this part of the country, it is a real shame. When I was a kid you could see dozens of them every evening and now it is rare to occasionally see one. I believe a diseas decemated their population numbers.
I've seen nesting platforms where the owner screwed a few good sized branches to the platform to give the birds a head start and this gives them a way to wedge their first few nest branches in there.
Putting sides up on the nest platform will help with stability. One thing you can do to help them is to build a starter substrate by intertwining twigs a couple inches thick on the surface in the shape of a large nest. You can also help secure this to the platform using baking wire or something similar. This worked for feruginous hawk nest platforms I installed in oil fields. For bald eagles this should be as wide as the surface of your platform since their nests are huge and they will add to it every year once they start nesting
You are correct. You need to add a "Lip" to your eagle nest to keep the sticks and debris from blowing off. I would box in a 2x4" lip with inverted 1 by 1" stakes (at least 6-10 inches high) spaced out every 8 - 12 inches. This will serve to "grab" on to any branches the eagles will bring to the nest. Once an eagle places down a branch it would be less likely from blowing/rolling off the platform
You’re the Bob Ross of fishing and outdoor conservation. Thank you for all you do. I like the name Osceola for one of the new Florida bass. He was a Seminole leader in the early 19th century.
I’m pretty sure conservationists don’t hybridize fish for sport fishing. I think highly of BamaBass. But it might be more appropriate to use different terminology to describe what he’s doing.
An artificial nest tree with a flat platform needs an artifical starter nest anchored to the structure with wire cables. Southern Alabama is tornado and hurricane country. Even areas where those weather phenomenon are rarer eagle nests have blown out of trees as what happened last year in Minnesota while mom was sitting on the nest. I suggest Bamabass go to the experts, especially the eagle specialist involved at the famous SWFL eagle cam and get advice on how to build it properly. I have seen the ones that start as a wire mesh bowl lined with straw and then ringed by large sticks and branches. That entire structure is then anchored tightly to the platform so it can't move. The eagles will then finish it to their specs. Eagles constantly fiddle with their nests and seem rarely satisfied which lead to hilarity as couples often fight over where to place sticks throughout the nesting season. Just search YT for Jackie and Shadow (or Big Bear eagles) to see examples.
I use to watch you when I was younger when you guys first introduced Sheriff to Bonnie and Clyde, which inspired me to get a native fish of my own. I caught a pumpkinseed sunfish and ever since that point I was hooked on aquatic biology. This is the first video of yours I've seen in years and I love that within 5 minutes I get a quick lesson about your F1 Tiger Bass. Keep up the nerd talk Bama and ill be watching more videos
Can I nominate Daytona as a Florida name. Don’t know why, but that was going round my head as you were tagging them! Love your videos, such a beautiful site 🙏🏼✌🏼
Goat is the other Mobie 🤣 buddy is hungry all the time!., man how i enjoy watching your videos brother so soothing! And love watching them bass and little turtles in action thanx for the content man!
What has been done by the conservation officers in my province is they place a few larger branches on the platform that can't be blown away easily. You don't need too many, I have usually seen around 6 branches that are up to about 2inches thick. This provides a base for the eagles to start building off of.
You could do a part of the wall see through for the squirrels. Would be great to see them and I think it's another great addition for wildlife to be filmed. 😊
I’ve been following this for so long and it’s been amazing, I can’t wait to try to replicate this one day myself, thank you for doing such a amazing job and teaching me so much!
Did you ever do a cost breakdown for the pond digging? I watched the first dozen or so videos in a row today and was trying to find it if you had. I love the channel!
Eagles,at least in my area, like a bit of a shallow V to start their nests on. Sort of like a flattish Christmas manger. You could make one where the legs would go through the slat spaces you have, with the shallow V part resting on your existing platform. Bolt the legs from underneath.
For the Florida Bass names, working off the Oak and Cedar themes, how about naming 2 after Florida’s state tree and flower: “Sabal” Palm; and Orange “Blossom”
How about Horseshoe for a Florida bass? It’s a coastal town famous for creek fishing and where our rivers meet the gulf. Also, this town is still trying to recover from Hurricane Idalia.
You should put 2x4s around the top of the eagle tower to hold the nest sticks in from blowing out and then throw some straw on top to help get the nest going for them.
The only thing I can come up with on a Florida fish name would be Kissimmee after Lake Kissimmee in South Florida. Probably not what you're looking for but I thought I would give it a go because it is from Florida. Hope everyone has a wonderful and blessed day.
One of my dreams is being able to afford doing a big project like this ❤ I’d add a few more aggressive fish like Snakeheads or Peacock Bass but only a few
Definitely add like 6-12 inch of siding around the eagle tower and then add some large sticks and some medium sticks. they will probably immediately start filling it in for a nest they should be laying eggs now/soon
I would suggest Tallahassee or Pensacola for names of the new FL fish. A question for you, are the smaller fish that I saw you caught, some 1 to 2 lb. fish, are they a new generation of fish that had come from the older fish, a year ago? For the eagles nest get some dry old dead branches and attach them in a circle up there to get them started. Great job with the pond and the lake. San Diego, Ca.
my mentor growing up is my brother who is 7 years older than me in August. We didn't have a Dad hanging around. Anyway... 2 years ago he moved to Venice Florida where he enjoys retirement. Sooooo..... I would love to see one of these critters you have in this video. Named..... "VENICE". Thanks! :)
it would be dope if shiner sam gave you a few or if you gave a YT you really liked the chance to bring you a trophy bass you can tag like these ones so you know the difference an name for one should be PRIME TIME!
I think Pancho would be a good name for one of your fish, as in Pancho Villa. I just discovered your channel last week, I'm enjoying it, thanks for providing quality entertainment. Question, do Eagles eat baby turtles?

100% in agreement. Love this!

There's only one set of names for 4 turtles... Michelangelo, Donatello, Raphael and Leonardo... For seriously...
I agree
Amen
I just commented the exact same thing! hahaha
At least the orange one has definitely got to be michelangelo
I really hope he picks those names
Can you set up a few bat boxes and see if they nest? Great for pest control.
That’s a great idea, and will help with insects!

I always love the “ a couple loads a clay” when it was like 800+ dumps

I live in Florida and this is how it’s done here.
Yes putting up boards and bigger sticks around the top of Eagle 🦅🦅 neast
Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello, and Michelangelo is a must for the turtles.
Yes
Absolutely
They already have turtles named that
I was gonna name them the teenage mutant ninja turtles 😂😂
The orange belly has to be Mikey
You’re the Bob Ross of fishing and outdoor conservation. Thank you for all you do. I like the name Osceola for one of the new Florida bass. He was a Seminole leader in the early 19th century.
perfect comparison
Osceola is terrific but the fish are female. great for the turtles
I’m pretty sure conservationists don’t hybridize fish for sport fishing.
I think highly of BamaBass. But it might be more appropriate to use different terminology to describe what he’s doing.
I belive that a nice add to the eagle platform was a edge or a rail so that the nest material stays up there more easy
I said this months before.
Skunkape
Same. Nail a big Christmas wreath up there😂

You have 4 turtles. If you don't name them Michaelangello, Raphael, Leonardo, and Donatello you are doing it wrong my friend.
I think you are a little late my friend
You're dog gone right.
Theyve had them before as baby's in the house pond
They already have 4 turtles named that
It has too be love it
Folks at home
Welcome back to the crimson oak pond.

we built this five acre pond over the past year.
😂😂
Can I nominate Daytona as a Florida name. Don’t know why, but that was going round my head as you were tagging them! Love your videos, such a beautiful site 🙏🏼✌🏼
Goat is the other Mobie 🤣 buddy is hungry all the time!., man how i enjoy watching your videos brother so soothing! And love watching them bass and little turtles in action thanx for the content man!
Orlando Would be a Good Name for one of your new Florida Bass
Great suggestion.
Orlando is a good name!
Tebow for one of the new FL bass! Keep up the great work. Always interesting to see how the pond evolves.
Slow down he already named one gator that’s all y’all get 😂😂 go Noles!! 😊

If you don't name the turtles Michelangelo, Leonardo, Raphael, and Donatello... then what are we even doing here?
Exactly what I was going to say
He’s done that before
And mark them with the respective colors
You have Gator. How about McKlusky for one of the new Bass? As in Gator McKlusky the Burt Reynolds movie? If not, then how about Burt?
Name one of the bass “Flo- Rida” like the rapper name!
FLORDIA MAN!!!!!!!! Should definitely be one!
You can name the Florida bass Cleetus. He is a great Florida man.
Hell yeah brother!!!
Do it for Dale.
Love these videos guys. Been watching for years and love the Sunday uploads. How about naming one "Panhandle".
Name the fish Monsoon, Python, Manatee, and since you already named one Gator the last one has to be Croc.
Those turtles gonna be bass food
The turtles MUST be named after the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
Michelangelo Donatello Leonardo Raphael
Agreed!
Or famous artists, what would you name them after the 4th
It's the one and only way.
@@ChosonJindos Rembrandt? Lol
I'm from the UK, so I love that you put rainbow trout in great😂
Name the turtles: Eeny, meeny, miny, moe!
Liberty, taking the word in its concrete sense, consists in the ability to choose.
Nail down a matt on the eagle tower. that has velcro like fibers to stable the twigs and sticks. A fake grass matt might work.
Those new bass are beautiful! Congrats
A major river that flows through Florida is called the Suwannee and is popular for bass fishing! Maybe that for your Florida fish?
You could do a part of the wall see through for the squirrels. Would be great to see them and I think it's another great addition for wildlife to be filmed. 😊
amazing content, awesome pond, wish I could fish there all day
I’ve been following this for so long and it’s been amazing, I can’t wait to try to replicate this one day myself, thank you for doing such a amazing job and teaching me so much!
Did you ever do a cost breakdown for the pond digging? I watched the first dozen or so videos in a row today and was trying to find it if you had. I love the channel!
How bout’ Tallabassee
and (Orange) Blossom for the turtle with the orange belly? My husband and I love your show! Blessings to you and yours!

You have made a nature reserve, it’s amazing!
For the Florida Bass names, working off the Oak and Cedar themes, how about naming 2 after Florida’s state tree and flower:
“Sabal” Palm; and
Orange “Blossom”
How about Horseshoe for a Florida bass? It’s a coastal town famous for creek fishing and where our rivers meet the gulf. Also, this town is still trying to recover from Hurricane Idalia.
Our family has been watching your video for years and love them. My daughters said Queso would make great name for one of the turtles.
You should put 2x4s around the top of the eagle tower to hold the nest sticks in from blowing out and then throw some straw on top to help get the nest going for them.
I can’t wait for when they start catching 25 pounders
Some of the old Tarzan movies were filmed in Silver Springs, Florida. How about naming a couple Tarzan and Jane? And don't forget Cheetah!
You should add some fish viewing towers across the pond. That would be pretty neat.
Have you installed any Bat boxes? Bats might be a good addition to control insects. Also, nice to see them flying at dusk.
Chicola, for the Apalachicola river
Hello I’m from South Florida I think you should go with Hurricane since you already have a Gator and a Seminole !!🙌
Marino, Hurricane, Glades, Sunshine, Cocoa, RonJon, Shelly (seashell), Pan(handle)
I think that a few of those would be cool in the ponds
For the eagles nest just make a bowl shape around the platform out of plywood.
Flora, Orange Blossom (state flower), Pennsa (Pensacola), and Tampa
Cool ❤
Really love all y'all's vlogs. And then you should name one of them Ponce de Leon.
A good name for a bass florida theme.. kodak, tebow 6:46
Name: Okee… Lake Okeechobee! Fits perfect for the Crimson Oak pond!! Name: Bahia Hana… a beautiful state park in the keys! Love the vids!
The only thing I can come up with on a Florida fish name would be Kissimmee after Lake Kissimmee in South Florida. Probably not what you're looking for but I thought I would give it a go because it is from Florida. Hope everyone has a wonderful and blessed day.
You should try doing that window cube that you place at the base of the water and suction the air off
add a spot they can hide there stash of food like a vault and maybe a little camera in there would be cool
Emmitt, the best running back ever out of Florida.
Orlando Boom like it's hitting a top water!
It’s insane how far you guys have come from the first bass tank
Also jeez your kids are kids now I remember when they were just babies
My best options for the Florida themed names are, Manatee,
Pelican, Gulfstream, Biscayne, Sunny, Mango, I hope you pick one. Thanks!
Naming one of the Florida strain bass Cyprus would be pretty cool
1 million subs. Congrats 🎉
Side rails for sure
One of my dreams is being able to afford doing a big project like this ❤ I’d add a few more aggressive fish like Snakeheads or Peacock Bass but only a few
a bowl frame like they use for bean bag chairs would work
Freedom and Spirit
Yes add the boards and a simple structure for the eagles to build on
Give the Squirrel houses a hammock!
I feel like squirrels would love little hammocks haha!
why didn't I think of that!? he can pick some up at the Hammock Complex down on 3rd, in the Hammock District.
Turtle names: yertle & Myrtle; slopoke, ninja turtle names. For Florida bass: wikki and wachi, eclipse, Okeechobee, Miami, Orlando , Flo. Love your channel!
seeing this amazing channel from 10k to 1 million is crazy
KeyLime would be another idea. Love your videos! Keep them coming!
or Lime Pie
Definitely add like 6-12 inch of siding around the eagle tower and then add some large sticks and some medium sticks. they will probably immediately start filling it in for a nest they should be laying eggs now/soon
oakachobee oak for the tree and chobee from the biggest fresh water lake in Florida

Marlin would be a good name for one, love the videos keep em coming!
Got to go with "Urban" for one of the Florida fishes. Go Bucks!
Yea I was thinking it would be a good idea nailing some tree branches on the side of the eagle stand. Positioning them to create a bowl shape.
Add some colourful Peacock Bass in the new pond
great stuff. got some names for you...Cane, Tallahassee, Augustine,
Love the video!

Cocoa
Kennedy
Orlando
Palm
Thanks for the videos =)
I’d love to see a bank vault or safe in the squirrel houses for them to store nuts in.
Love the channel! You should name one of them "Florida Man" As a staple.
Hurricane and Snow Bird would be good florida names.
Osceola , Toho , Orlando for Orlando wilson/ Orlando magic.. TEBOW or Moroso
For the turtles, Diamond,Spadey, Clubber, and Heart
For the squirrel house, some swings or vines
Cocoa or Blastoff for the Florida lady bass
Burmese would be a cool name in reference to the huge Burmese pythons in Florida! Love the videos
I think Pancho would be a good name for one of your fish, as in Pancho Villa. I just discovered your channel last week, I'm enjoying it, thanks for providing quality entertainment. Question, do Eagles eat baby turtles?
Bucky...for the florida bass. GO BUCS

Hurricane ! Has to be a bass name
Okachobie and panhandle could be cool names for some of the Florida bass
