    Mature and Vice are cool, but they were already in the previous KOF and I honestly would like to see Kasumi Todoh and Shen Woo in KOF XV before them. Let's see if we still have news about FF CoTW characters, a new one. New AoF will be very cool. And a SamSho RPG I just hope isn't for mobile.

      ​@@shoahkhan5670 Kain appeared in the announcement artwork so he is practically confirmed in the basic roster, while unfortunately Geese will be 100% a dlc like (hopefully) Krauser. Dead characters are generally never included in the base game because they cannot be included in single player content. It's stupid, but that's how it is.

      @@Vindrows After Sieger ended up M. I. A. for the Samshow re-boot -- despite the lead developer declaring that he wanted him, his favourite character, in the base roster; only for his desires to be abrogated by Tencent's pressure for more lolies and non-SS characters -- I don't trust anything from SNK any longer. Also, games have myriad "concept artworks" tabled long before decisions are made on actual content; and that's without even factoring in product $uccess / failure. The biggest indicator for Heinlein being in is that he was the first game's boss, and in light of how substandard SNK's boss offerings have been since the early 2000s _(Did you see the one in the SS re-boot, that wasn't even a proper boss character?_ 🥴), they may well have gotten the message by now, and reverted back to boss characters which fans actually liked... Plus, what they've showed off so far comprises more than 50% newbies -- i. e., they've now got the rest of the year to (hopefully) give us some SNK stalwarts 😑

      @@shoahkhan5670 I understand your point of view. But in this case we are not talking about simple concept art, but about official artwork included in the first two trailers of the game. The one with Rock in the foreground and the silhouettes of Kain and Billy in the background was in the very first announcement trailer. And the other one with Terry in the foreground and Andy and Joe in the background was shown the following year. These are probably the most watched and talked about City Of The Wolves trailers ever, so it would be really strange if they were just bait.
      Time will tell, I guess 🤷‍♂️

    It does seem to be a modern Best Of Fatal Fury but I won't say I don't miss the multiple layer system. For those who don't know, not all stages had it in the first game and the pace is really fun in Fatal Fury Special which still has a competitive scene.
    I may have to look somewhere else for a new title to recreate some of that appeal as it may have not even made it to the table to fall into the cutting room floor.

      Well COTW is a sequel to MOTW, which also didn't have a lane system, so it makes sense. Honestly as an old school fan of Fatal Fury, i always thought the lane system was unique, i also thought it was a hinderance and could be annoying.

      @@orlanzo2621 ​I'd agree if they didn't focus on returning classic features from older games (see 3:50 to 6:00) where they even mentioned adapting mechanics from Fatal Fury Wild Ambition which is a non-canon spinoff.
      Like I said before, not all stages need to have the mechanic or have them impact gameplay the same way which was even established in the first Fatal Fury.
      If Wild Ambition can have mechanics return without annoying people, something that can be a simple toggle like stage variations shouldn't be a problem.

      I really miss Real Bout’s ring out mechanic. I can imagine it wasn’t popular so they didn’t even bring it back for Real Bout 2, but having it back then was a unique gameplay feature for a 2D fighter. Plus I’ve always enjoyed Virtua Fighter so stage awareness was something I was accustomed to.

      @@neko_samurai I haven't played the Real Bouts yet, but that's another mechanic that I'd like to see return which would be less intrusive than lanes (though both can be optional).
      Coming from platform fighters (Smash is just one of them) and 3D fighters (Budokai, Tenkaichi, Clash of Ninja, Gundam Vs) - I like to see environmental awareness be rewarded a bit from time to time even if the stage may not be a tournament legal fit for everyone.

      I think it would do good for SNK to just include it as a modifier or certain mode. No reason why it can’t even have its own online playlist if they do find a way to include lanes/ring outs

      Depends on who is playable. If I can play as Amakusa or Sieger or Zankuro or Mizuki... I'll be happy. But, methinks, it'll likely just be the boring mascots, like Hoahmaru and Nakaruru (assuming there are multiple playable characters). In an ideal world, it'll be like a "Nioh", with co-op multiplayer and a slew of characters to play as; all with different fighting styles.

      We need all the original Neo Geo orchestra tracks. The likes of SF6 have shown that people want some "re-imagined" versions of classics, because music is timeless, and if it's good once, it's good forever.

      Nope. Pretty sure SNK is done with KOF. I bet the only reason they decided to make Mature and Vice was to stay relevant until COTW after seeing how few people were active online

      ​@@gv82089 Isn't that what snk has always done compared to competitors? Aside from the joke characters, they have always proposed a simple and perfect design for the type of character they had in mind. Ryo visually was a simple karateka, Terry and Robert were thugs, Andy was a ninja, Kyo was a Japanese high school student in uniform, etc. What really made these characters iconic was the perfect synergy between all the various components (moves, personality, voice lines, etc.). And in my opinion this fine aesthetic taste has been somewhat lost in recent years.
      In the case of Preecha, for example, both the hipster glasses and the strange hair are very characterizing elements for a character design. So one of the two elements would easily have been enough to have an iconic design that was not excessively burdened.

      @@gv82089 I'd agree her final design is more distinctive if her splash image was representative of what she's like in gameplay, but in game she has these awful limp armed anime girl mannerisms and looks super generic in that context to me.

    Right THERE is the problem with the FGC today: Everything is seen as having to be "narrowed down" to some repetitive, universals-centric spam fest; where bouts are decided by minutiae difference in characters which are otherwise, in their overt designs, meant to play worlds apart. Be it SF6 with is sickening slime sliding > jabs > throws flow chart gameplay that pervades the roster; T8, with its baby's first comeback mechanic, "Heat Burst" and homogenised input "Rage Arts"; or MK1 and its nauseating shin jabs > throw garbage excuse for gameplay... All these "Modern" (deliberate pun) fighting games have become so utterly and irreparably homogenised and restrictive as such, that nothing anyone does or can do -- from casuals, all the way to e-sports pros -- is any longer individual, unique (much less, "hype"); and for under the misguided premise of attaining mythological "balance". No one wants to play a grapple, only to have to play like a rush-down character, just to be vaguely competitive; any more than they want to have to 90% replay on universal mechanics to carry a character -- these are no enjoyable gameplay tropes for a fighting to promote. Moreover, if li'l Timmy, whose experience with fighters is some Smash Brothers knock-off mobile game, can pull off more or less anything that you see in the Evo top-10 -- because the games have been so abjectly watered-down, in terms of execution and depth -- what is the point of even having a competitive scene? There will never be another "Daigo parry" moment in competitive play with the fighting game blueprints being used by developers today. Until they throw out the foolish and corporate driven notions of building a fighting around "balance" and "accessibility" -- instead of leaving those imperatives to dedicated game modes and/or "regulations" -- fighting games will be nothing but a battle of who can use of the games' universal mechanics best... And that's not something I, for one, want to invest time in watching, nor money in playing.

      @@quanghoancu4154 If the game is limited in what players can do with characters -- a. k. a., lacks "player expression" -- the game has boring baked into it. Here, my problem is with the casual-brained attitude of the comment in question -- in how the first port of call is an effective request for the dumbing-down something that isn't even in existence yet. It reminds me of prior to MK11's launch, them mulling over giving characters individulaised EX ("Burn" / "Enhanced") inputs; only for the casual chorus to immediately bleat _"TOO HARD!!",_ and the idea being dropped in utero... In part, resulting in the shovelware that game turned out as (to say nothing of how that mindset likely all but condemned MK1 before its conception). This mindset represents the worst attitude, not only in fighting game circles; but, the video game pastime itself -- one that has led to many games and genres being diluted to the point where the actual _playing_ of the video *game* is rendered incidental to the "cinematic experience". For the FG genre specifically, the deeper and more complex the game is, the more permutations there are for players in which to express themselves. This was important in the early 90s, with the likes of SF2, when there were no mirror matches; but, is of the the gravest import in 2024, when everyone scrub gravitates to the "top tier" characters and spams the identical, "optimal" tripe into infinity... Applying to both casuals and e-sport pros, BTW. If the current model of fighting game does away with the notion of individual player expression being important, in favour of "streamlined" and "accessible" gameplay, the genre has no reason to exist beyond its use for lining the pockets of billionaire CEO's with ca$ual shekels.
