@FabledLazmarr Just to let you know I say in the review the mesh comes off but it does NOT allow you to fit a bigger rad. Rads are only able to be fitted inside for one and there is LESS room above anyways.
@jh3496 HAFX supports a 360 in the roof mate..... Cosmos2 is indeed 200mm fan in the front but rads are available for both sizes. TBH though the Cosmos2 is about the 360 in the roof and 240 in the bottom.
@radrokz hey dude the RX is 60mm thick and may hit your motherboard. 50mm thick is the maximum size that will NOT have the possibility of hitting the mobo and components. Your RX rad may well faul your mobo. Youll have to try it once it arrives :/
Yes, the front bottom portion is removable, revealing two large fan ports (one installed), and the upper portion lowers (as he demonstrated) to reveal the 3.5"/5.25" and lockable 3.5" hot swap bays.
@BillasAsus TJ07 was released years ago, awards were for 2011. That and IMHO the TJ07 isnt really all that mate. The 800D Ive also reviewed and I still dont rate that case at all.
I recently bought this beast and got tons of help from oc3d forums on how to build it and wire it, i was actually gonna go for the 900d or the phantom 820 but i would have regreted those decisions!
lol Cosmos 2 is the best out now others is plastic crap, and just because 1 thing is bad doesnt mean the whole product is bad, some other chassi maybe got that thing good but the rest bad... this u can have as many harddrives or gpus as u want with np lol
@FabledLazmarr However, I do believe you can fit the fans on top of the case, under the mesh, and fit the rad inside the case. Assuming it's not too thick. I think it's mentioned in the video somewhere how tall a radiator that'll go in there, but I forgot now.
@Dantakurasaki I'm not familiar with the Elysium but the Trooper will support two radiators natively and, with modding, allows for up to four. Hard to go wrong any way you go though.
The really nice thing about this case is its versatility. This makes for an excellent gaming case, but it'd make an equally amazing small scale server. The hot swap drive bays are bizarre and awesome, the doors are amazing, and the whole look is just so elegant and appealing.
Good thorough review. Got to agree on the Coolermaster thing, they re-released the CM-690 II with added features such as the gromets & usb3 ports featured on the cosmos2 plus a side window as standard and made a great case greater. I won't be surprised if we don't see anything that even comes close to coolermasters cases, they are so great and you get a feel that they take the time to think about what us users need & want.
I just took a look at mine and the only thing you can take off is the front Mesh/Fan cover. Apart from that, it looks like you can also take out the two Hot-swap devices, and bay covers, but the 5.25 housing seems riveted in. There are however some steel lugs/Fins pointing through from the front, which seem to come from the faceplate that sits behind the plastic bezel, though the Bezel itself looks like it's non-removable. It's hard to see with the crappy lighting i have.
in 2021 I got me one of these for $50, used. Looks like new, and I love it, fits a Noctua NHD-15 with room to spare. Considering making it into a full Noctua theme, with a full beige/brown paintjob as well.
Just a quick note I got the case recently after watching this review and the fan cabbles for the GPU from the io panel can be routed between the 200mm front fan and hard drive cage and connect to the gpu fans.
With CM upping the bar with both the Storm Trooper and now the Cosmos II, I am interested to see what Corsair does. When one company does this, we the enthusiasts/consumers really do come out way ahead because it drives competition again and gives more options than ever before. Can't wait to get my money and to build a rig in something as sexy as this
This is like when Antec came out with the 900, they set the bar so much higher and nothing out at the time was that good. It took a long time and many many people used the 900 before the other case manufactures could even compete.
I'm running an NH-D14 and two 580 Lightning Xtremes, do you think this case could handle that kind of aircooling? I'm on a HAF 932 right now and want a actual good case. I plan on moving to watercooling on my next build so this is great. Just wondering if aircooling could work for me for awhile while being quiet? You said aircooling was good, but you didn't go into it much.
I've seen this case advertized and didn't think a whole lot of it. I saw this review and I'm sold! I think I will not only use this case in a build, but I will retrofit a side window for it, with custom water cooling, and have it re-coated in white...lol. Hell, this things big enough to stick the insides of an AC for some extreme cooling ;)
@TimeToLiveCustoms But you can install the radiator beneath the Top cover (and just put the tubings through the grommets, so It's not a problem even with big NorthBridge heatsinks, right? [Such as the Rampage III extreme]) Anyway, too bad that it costs 350 Euros in EU...
Great review Tom. Did you planed to make the written review with temps recorded? Maybe you could fill that 11 +2 HDDs holders and measure temps on the disks. Also you could put a MARS 2 in SLI and measure temps.
I really like the idea of being able to put a 240mm radiator in the bottom; as for fans (in the bottom), Triebwerk fans would be able to push enough air through the rad...might be able to even have the Triebwerks in a push/ pull (though they are a bit on the thick side-55mm). I think cooler Master has done this case justice...very nice reinvention of an already great water cooling case.
You Sir, have done justice to the case. Many review websites don't even go that far with their reviews. Once this case comes out I will buy it and only because of your review. I am glad that I susbcribe to your channel. Thank You. PS. Corsair, your are next.
After seeing your review i bought this case. I felt kind of bad when i spent $400 for a case....but man....when i bought this home....lol. This is such a damn beauty i felt like i could even pay twice as much since it is just so fricking sexy. And the look on my friends' faces made it worth every penny Thanks for the good review man youve done me a service
I'm absolutely sold. I must get this case. Although expensive as hell, and I was impatient with getting the Antec P280 on release... Now I have to switch cases AGAIN! One question for you though... Can you lift the case in the "handles" in the top. This is one of the bigger selling points for me, because whats the point of them otherwise? Other than the design. And are they made of plastic? I'm not going to make a watercooling setup. So this lightens the total weight and stress on the handles.
18:36 - Theres also a 180mm fan in the front. It is a 200mm fan. They might have changed it in the final version, but officially, it should be a 200mm fan in the front :)
Wicked review, man. Love the enthusiasm. I got the NZXT Phantom for Christmas and am getting their window panel for it. Wish this thing was in my budget.
Awesome review as usual, Obviously the lack of side window has been mentioned and hopefully they will have an after market panel to rectify that, My question is how solid is the case in terms of noise and vibration issues, If one has multiple high rpm hdd's, SLI or Crossfire setup how much noise is leaking out of the case and is there any bad resonance. I have Silverstone Temjin Tj10 and with SLI setup have found the panels a little thin,Otherwise it's an awesome case as well.
Air flow doesn't really matter because if you can afford to get this case, you can most likely afford to add watercooling as well. The window is personal preference, though.
@TimeToLiveCustoms Right then, looking forward to getting my hands on it. To the webshops!! The case becomes available in Denmark on January 30th. I hate waiting. I will test the sturdiness of the "handles". When i get my new setup in there, it's going to be real heavy. And where to put it... I have no idea. This case is BIGGER than the Corsair 800D! Thank god it's a looker.
Perfect review. I would like to see you trying to fit the 360mm rad on top and the 240mm one on the bottom since I'm thinking about buying the case to run a dual loop WC. Cheers man!
Corsair Obsidian 900D is IMO the case to go for ATM. I believe however, that the new Phanteks Enthoo Primo warrants a reconsideration in the motherboard-department. It doesn't support XL-ATX, but has a shit-ton of space for rads, reservoirs and pumps, great looks, and a great price.
@BillasAsus was far more than that with the elysium. CM are making some awesome stuff FINALLY again. I know I cant please everyone mate these are MY thoughts on the case.
Tom is gonna be dreaming about a white Cosmos 2 with unpainted silver looking brushed aluminium side doors. And of course a sidewindow in it. :D Tom if this is your dream now I truely wish that it would come true for you! You're a great man! What a way to start the new year. Happy New Year to all of ya!
People complaining about the price of this case; the original Cosmos can still be found here in Canada for about $240 (started out expensive, still expensive), the 700D was going for $250, while the 800D is still priced at around $300...you want an enthusiast case, you best be willing to pay the price.
I could be wrong, but isn't there a panel on the inside of the door that can be removed to mount two 120mm fans? I think that's what they intend for the gpu cooling fan button
One thing that doesn't get mentioned much is what is the sound level like under load? Say 3 HD's, a decent GPU, and an air-cooled i7 rendering a 3D scene, or playing a heavy game?
I have the two 120mm Spectres cooling the HDD bay, temporarily hooked up to one channel each. The AF-140mm replaced the 200mm in the front and below that is an AF-120-perf, both sharing one channel. A 140mm Spectre at the back, the other AF-120-perf + stock 120 feeding the Motherboard compartment (on the door) and one stock 120 for top exhaust. Funny thing is, i can run all those at 1000rpm and it's still quieter than my old rig running only two 80mm fans. :O All the best.
To bad they didn't make cable-less contact points for the side fans. Do you think the side panels and hinges are strong enough to fit a 240*60 rad onto the door ?
I'm confused. I've just ordered one of these for an i9-7900X build with the Cooler Master Liquid Pro 280. The CM site does not list the LP280 as being compatible with this case, but with it being so big, how can it not be? What am I missing, or can I go ahead the LP280 in the Cosmos II with a 7900X? BTW a really great review of the case. Incredibly helpful, so thanks a lot.
@TimeToLiveCustoms I just rewatched this because I'm planning on buying it because I can't watercool in my Haf X. Does the front fan really support 180mm? CM's website only says 200mm but in this vid you say 180mm. I can find 180 rads EASILY, but 200mm I can as-well but I'm not sure if it'll fit as there are thousands of different types of 200mm mounts, and the only 100% compatability I've found is for the antec 200mm fan mounts. Thanks!
CM should send you a replacement FC unit with no issue, though i strongly recommend the Lamptron FC5-V2, it works flawlessly and looks absolutely fantastic. Plus you can change the readout color to pretty much anything you want, which is great if you are like me and are sick of everything being Blue. Also i should mention that the FC5 has an excellent quality display, which has a 180 degree viewing angle. It really is tops.
I have a few questions.I've owned a few CM cases in the past and they were great cases but the build quality was.. crap. The power buttons broke, the materials were cheap, the paint was bad and when I got them fans were misaligned and so were some panels! I'm wondering has CM changed this with this case? Also if i were to fit a 360mm rad in the top. How would you go about getting tubing in through those grommets? Is there any 90deg fitting i can use half way through a tube? Thanks! -Viral
When it comes to case reviews, nobody comes close to this channel. They are done so well that we are able to see for ourselves if we like them or not. For this case, before conclusion started, I decided about my own award - weak gold. But when I heard the price, there was no doubt in my mind - silver award. All those saying price doesn't matter - TTL has been lowering awards in the past for 20 pounds and for right reasons. Example: 650D. For big tower HAF X still destroys this one.
Yes it is, the Cosmos II is monstrously big. But the Stryker is better for gaming because you get more for the price and you can get the windows which you can see inside the case with. The Cosmos is mostly used by people who want to use it as a workstation. Get the Stryker, unless you need 10 hard drives or SSDs in your case.
@FabledLazmarr Just to let you know I say in the review the mesh comes off but it does NOT allow you to fit a bigger rad. Rads are only able to be fitted inside for one and there is LESS room above anyways.
@Mikrouwel the RX is too big matey (60mm)
Max rad thickness is 50mm
@1997manic nope you need to change the CPU. You need to choose a 2011 CPU Or change the motherboard for a Z68 based board.
@vaguedustin on the bench rig they are Scythe speakers
@jh3496 HAFX supports a 360 in the roof mate..... Cosmos2 is indeed 200mm fan in the front but rads are available for both sizes. TBH though the Cosmos2 is about the 360 in the roof and 240 in the bottom.
@radrokz hey dude the RX is 60mm thick and may hit your motherboard. 50mm thick is the maximum size that will NOT have the possibility of hitting the mobo and components. Your RX rad may well faul your mobo. Youll have to try it once it arrives :/
@ShredRatMatt as I said in the video.... 50mm to the very top of the mobo. None of my mobos would fit with a 60mm rad
This has to be one of your best reviews yet, and I mean that in the sense of detail, amount of thought put into it, etc. Great work, Tom.
Tom, no one does such extensive case reviews as you do and I really appreciate it. Thank you and keep up the great work!
@john0995q the feet are metals bars but they do have rubber strips on them :)
Just watched this for 43 minutes with absolutely no intention of buying the case and I'm not bored in the slightest. Well done mate
So much passion in a review, that's why I come to this channel.
@TheDJBook I cant remember on that one dude. I 'think' the board is too big though and you would have to mod it
Yes, the front bottom portion is removable, revealing two large fan ports (one installed), and the upper portion lowers (as he demonstrated) to reveal the 3.5"/5.25" and lockable 3.5" hot swap bays.
Wow, I'm watching this exactly 5 years after it was uploaded. I just ordered one of these.
Love the coverage, just bought myself of one of these babies! 😃
@ViralBR0 if you put a rad in the top you dont use the grommets!!! LOL why would you need to send the hose outside? ;)
Finally someone who dares to do a REAL review... Take their time and not stress through the whole thing. Best review so far! Well done! :]
the 2 bays take up 1.5 slots so sadly not matey
@6psycho9 I think atleast give it an option, but with no window it looks pretty reserved.
This case is simply amazing. We have waited a while to see this and I am glad it is here. Thanks for the superb review.
@BillasAsus TJ07 was released years ago, awards were for 2011. That and IMHO the TJ07 isnt really all that mate. The 800D Ive also reviewed and I still dont rate that case at all.
GPU fan is located on the GPU itself. There is a small port on the cards so that you can connect an external fan controller.
I recently bought this beast and got tons of help from oc3d forums on how to build it and wire it, i was actually gonna go for the 900d or the phantom 820 but i would have regreted those decisions!
***** lol nothing is better then cosmos 2 ;D
lol just have the fans outside and none inside, same shitt..
Lol just sleeve the cables then what's the problem?
lol Cosmos 2 is the best out now others is plastic crap, and just because 1 thing is bad doesnt mean the whole product is bad, some other chassi maybe got that thing good but the rest bad... this u can have as many harddrives or gpus as u want with np lol
Yeah, or you could remove the whole rack and get extreme watercooling, then you don't need those other cpu coolers...
@FabledLazmarr However, I do believe you can fit the fans on top of the case, under the mesh, and fit the rad inside the case.
Assuming it's not too thick. I think it's mentioned in the video somewhere how tall a radiator that'll go in there, but I forgot now.
Tom Logan reminds me of David Attenborough the way he gets excited over nature, Tom gets equally excited over PC Products
I'm using this case for my next build. I'm going to spare no expense this time and this case is perfect.
You're amazingly thorough. I was skeptical watching this long of a review, but it was worth it. Subbed.
@Dantakurasaki I'm not familiar with the Elysium but the Trooper will support two radiators natively and, with modding, allows for up to four. Hard to go wrong any way you go though.
Awesome review of this case. Very good job. Just received my Cosmos II. All set to do a full re-build. Can not wait!
@JoeeHD um this is the Cosmos 2 review dude.
The really nice thing about this case is its versatility. This makes for an excellent gaming case, but it'd make an equally amazing small scale server. The hot swap drive bays are bizarre and awesome, the doors are amazing, and the whole look is just so elegant and appealing.

@Kole208 look at Case Labs cases then. They make MM cases look like cheap tat
What a case!!! Hopefully two window options will be available, one with a place for fans the other just a window
I just took a look at mine and the only thing you can take off is the front Mesh/Fan cover.
Apart from that, it looks like you can also take out the two Hot-swap devices, and bay covers, but the 5.25 housing seems riveted in. its for USB add ins and similar not for anything electrical!
Got this case last week absolutely in love with it

Anyway, too bad that it costs 350 Euros in EU...
this case needs a new award... the diamond award!!
2 minutes in and i already know its going to be a great review like always. Keep up the good work!
It's an "expansion slot" for items like a USB header or Audio peripheral.
Great review Tom. Did you planed to make the written review with temps recorded? Maybe you could fill that 11 +2 HDDs holders and measure temps on the disks. Also you could put a MARS 2 in SLI and measure temps.
you may know this now but i figured id mention it dose have a place to mount fans on the side do right next too the gpus
I really like the idea of being able to put a 240mm radiator in the bottom; as for fans (in the bottom), Triebwerk fans would be able to push enough air through the rad...might be able to even have the Triebwerks in a push/ pull (though they are a bit on the thick side-55mm).
I think cooler Master has done this case justice...very nice reinvention of an already great water cooling case.
watch the review, all details are in there for you to be able to work it out yourself. Thats the point in me making these videos in the first place.
@Dansktegnefilm Handles are VERY strone dude and you could stand on them if needed ;)
You Sir, have done justice to the case. Many review websites don't even go that far with their reviews. Once this case comes out I will buy it and only because of your review. I am glad that I susbcribe to your channel. Thank You. PS. Corsair, your are next.
@twomadcrafters Im actually not it will be done on the test bench ;)
After seeing your review i bought this case. I felt kind of bad when i spent $400 for a case....but man....when i bought this home....lol. @Ikoniikk A CM rep on a forum said it's 349USD
@dominox64 no you cant dude, putting the rad outside is pointless.
Air flow doesn't really matter because if you can afford to get this case, you can most likely afford to add watercooling as well. The window is personal preference, though.
Tom could u check if it can mount a 360rad at the top. I check the manual there is a tab at the top which hold 1 side of the fan on the top.
I have this coming in the mail next week. I'd like to be able to mod 3x140's in the top, do you think that would difficult?
@mhadina sadly not dude no sorry.
Perfect review. I would like to see you trying to fit the 360mm rad on top and the 240mm one on the bottom since I'm thinking about buying the case to run a dual loop WC. Cheers man!
I like how the full tower looks...but dam, they are so big
Corsair Obsidian 900D is IMO the case to go for ATM. I believe however, that the new Phanteks Enthoo Primo warrants a reconsideration in the motherboard-department. It doesn't support XL-ATX, but has a shit-ton of space for rads, reservoirs and pumps, great looks, and a great price.
@krattlusker 50mm will fit fine dude. 60mm will not.
@BillasAsus was far more than that with the elysium. CM are making some awesome stuff FINALLY again. I know I cant please everyone mate these are MY thoughts on the case.
you could reove the top hard drive cage and mount a dual 120 rad becsue it suports 2 120 front fans in the top chamber
I would have liked to see this sitting beside the HAF X to see a size comparison...
@port274 I think around early february...
Tom is gonna be dreaming about a white Cosmos 2 with unpainted silver looking brushed aluminium side doors. And of course a sidewindow in it. :D
Tom if this is your dream now I truely wish that it would come true for you! You're a great man! What a way to start the new year. Happy New Year to all of ya!
@JerseyXX1122 VERY different prices dude. if you can afford the Cosmos Id buy that tbh. The Elysium feel cheap compaired to this.
People complaining about the price of this case; the original Cosmos can still be found here in Canada for about $240 (started out expensive, still expensive), the 700D was going for $250, while the 800D is still priced at around $300...you want an enthusiast case, you best be willing to pay the price.
Cool, thanks. In that case I'll give the CM support a try.
Btw, how did you set up your fans?
Awesome review Tom! I was hoping you would do a review on that beauty! I hope its priced resonably when released.
I could be wrong, but isn't there a panel on the inside of the door that can be removed to mount two 120mm fans? I think that's what they intend for the gpu cooling fan button
they really need to release a windowed version, would be so nice
Yes. I have one and its setup that way. In fact the top 2 fans are double thick scythe fans.
One thing that doesn't get mentioned much is what is the sound level like under load? Say 3 HD's, a decent GPU, and an air-cooled i7 rendering a 3D scene, or playing a heavy game?

Funny thing is, i can run all those at 1000rpm and it's still quieter than my old rig running only two 80mm fans. :O
All the best.
To bad they didn't make cable-less contact points for the side fans. Do you think the side panels and hinges are strong enough to fit a 240*60 rad onto the door ?
@3HaloPlayers I believe you can get pci e extension thingies
I'm confused. I've just ordered one of these for an i9-7900X build with the Cooler Master Liquid Pro 280. NZXT Switch 810. Corsair 800D. Silverstone TJ07 or TJ11. There are many cases that already compete with this case easily one way or the other.
CM should send you a replacement FC unit with no issue, though i strongly recommend the Lamptron FC5-V2, it works flawlessly and looks absolutely fantastic. @TimeToLiveCustoms You don't have a review for them, would you recommend them?
@Geordielol Not true, if you wanted to do Surround gaming with good rez 5960x1060. also need high Vram. just depends what your doing.
For big tower HAF X still destroys this one.
hi Tom i was wondering if those lamptron fc9 would fit into the front with the cover slid up.
I have owned this case in 2 months now, one word...
It's huge!!!!!!!
HUGE case! Has the problem with the fans clicking / fan controller been sorted - or has someone come up with a solution ??
@FabledLazmarr Might want to let them know they are VERY wrong then dude ;) especially if you want to put the mesh back on afterwards :p
