You think it's big, yeah? I mean, that's what I thought too. I saw the customer shots and thought I knew how big this thing is, but nothing can prepare you for the sight of the FedEx man having to use a dolly to get it out from his truck just to bring it to the bottom of your second floor apartment's stairs. Guilt ridden, you offer to help him wrestle it upstairs, but he ardently refuses due to insurance reasons, so you helplessly watch the brave courier laboriously heave the monstrous box. You unbox it to begin your new build... only to pause because you're not sure where to start. So you awkwardly circumnavigate it's immense bulk like a wayward solitary Knight intending to lay siege to an obsidian fortress, heavy and dark, wrought of brushed aluminium and steel. It's only a matter of time before the towering behemoth defeats your geek pride, and your questing fingers shamelessly grasp the manual from the abyss of an empty box. In no time you learn that the hinged doors can in fact detach, easing the burden of installing your motherboard, power supply, graphics cards, disk drives, and whatever technological sacrifices you wish to sacrifice into the void. And it is a void unto which you sacrifice technology, you see: it devoured over eight hard drives like a snack, and with stunning ease tamed cables that made entire jungles of my lesser PC cases of days bygone. And then, when it is done and powered up, and the looming dark pillar dwarfs the desk you once thought adequate--you are reminded of those creepy black monoliths in 2001: A Space Oddysey. And you are right to be reminded. So right. Because you've just joined the PC Gaming Master Race, lol.
Ballout Sports Poetry. Pure poetry. :) And yeah, it's huge. I ordered mine online and figured, hey, I have a car. I don't need to get it delivered. I can get it myself from the nearest pickup point. I mean, how big could it be, yeah? Consider this. It's big. Like, BIG. And it's in a big cardboard box. Real BIG. And consider that when something is shipped to you there's usually _another_ cardboard box that they put the box in again for protection and all that. The final result is. BIIIIIIG. I had to _drag_ the thing from the store where the pickup point was and out into the parking lot to my car. Forget about _carrying_ it. That wasn't gonna happen. And then it was a matter of getting it into the car itself. A 2014 Suzuki Swift. Not a big vehicle, but not tiny either. With the shipping box and all I could _barely_ get it in through the back hatch of the car. There wasn't even enough space between the sides of the box and the doorframe to get my finger in between them, and of course the back of the rear seats had to be laid down in order to fit the box inside the vehicle. So yeah, it's big! It's heavy. And it was totally worth it!
In fact it’s still better than most case these day because you can put a 5.25 disc drive while new case these day just don’t it’s crazy for me because it doesn’t have disc drive just like netbook
@@Zoner1501 I have the cosmos 1000 which is one generation older and im still using it. Great case, altough i have thought modifying it for more intake fans in the front.
Hey Dude , I am french and i learn english at the University and i like listening to you, your voice, your accent, your pronunciation, the way that you talk, so fluent. i understand almost everything that you say :D ALL HAIL PCs
As I said in my other comment. MOST use it for servers however it does have a regular ATX layout and can be used for a gaming system. Especially with the TX10 D which has two motherboard trays to run 2 systems on. 1 could be a server the other could be a regular high end gaming system.
My only complaint is the lack of intake fans in the motherboard compartment. Obviously the case is designed to be set up with watercooling (especially if you're going to commit $400 to a case) but based on the design they show in the website there is inadequate intake for the video cards, being that they've only provided intake fans for the lower compartment and the front.
Thanks for doing this review! I purchased this case while deployed in Afghanistan and your review helped supply me with more information on what to expect from the case. Now I can have more of the parts to my build waiting for me when I make it back home.
Still using it after 9 years with 2 system upgrades. All it needs is a front panel upgrade for USB-C sockets and boom! I am thinking to just buy one of those 5.25" front panels and stick it in one of the front bays and call it a day.
Highly recomend the in desk ones, Personlly just cut a small circle in the dest over the keyboard, with a USB - C and a couple 3.0 A, wires as one usb c and one A, didnt wanna try and mod the panel and wanna be able to keep the door closed due to some 5.25 mods on 2 systems ago xD
Agreed! The fans are junk that come with this though. Definitely need to be replaced after a period of use. I also drilled a hole to get a proper power on/standby light in. Just opened up the case and aimed the LED downward toward the drive cages. Can't even see the drill hole, but you can see the light flashing on and off :3
Imagine how it would look like if every fan slot would be filled and every fan would have LEDs on it. You wouldn't even need a disko ball in your room for parties. :D
I have this case. It is HUGE, and I have every slot in use and it is HEAVY with all the Hard-Drives. I had an issue with the front hot swap, they broke, but Cooler Master replaced them no questions asked. I love this case, I have been using it since 2013, and have my 3rd build in it. Ready for a 4th build. I'm getting my money out of it for sure.
So you're the right guy to ask: Am about to buy one and am confused: on the cooler master site, its says that the front fan is 200mm and on another line it says that its a 120mm..which one is it!?! Extract from CM site: "One 120mm blue LED fan in the front" and on another line: "Front: 200mm blue LED fan x 1, 700 RPM, 19 dBA (installed)" As for my previous question about the psu cage, i've figured it out as anyway am buying a new 1200W psu who is of standard size.
I got it and when i built it, it got heavier and heavier to flip around. When i was finally done, i had to weigh it. My complete pc using this case, weighs around 104 pounds. So i built a slim platform for it to sit in on wheels at work so i can easily move it around if i need to.
PneumaticFrog I was mentioning the look of alienwares, not praising them for their power or cases. Thats why I said "You can make a homemade alienware with this case" because it looks like an alienware case.
As the other guy said, every PSU has an exhaust, which channels out the majority of the heat. The temperature of a case with the PSU mounted on the top or on the bottom flucuates by only a few degrees. One advantage of having a bottom-mounted PSU is having more fan space at the top of the case, which is much better for airflow.
i can't even imagine carrying that around, i LOVE my Storm Scout 2, the oversized handle is worth it for that alone. A lot easier than carrying it like a box.
While I agree with your point, I personally own one. The 900D is a full year newer than this and it has the same price point, weighs less and has more water-cooling potential and air cooling potential than the Cosmos 2. Since the Cosmos 2 has handles it will be more portable than the 900D but still weigh more.
This case would crush your Thermaltake Chaser. Thermaltake cases are pretty cheap and before I bought the Cosmos 2 to replace my Armor+ I never knew how cheap they actually were. Now after owning the Cosmos 2 for 6 months I can say it's probably the best case currently on the market.
IMO, this case has a Theft Deterrent feature, cause the struggle a thief would go to trying to haul this thing out of your house would be a sight to see. My dad has this case and I can say the build quality is amazing...
It might just be me,but I swear that Cooler Master made this case specifically for the EVGA Classified SR2 Motherboard. Some PPL don't realize how big & heavy this case actually is unless they have seen 1 in person. This case is Huge & really heavy like you say it is.Not a case you can just throw around like others.
It is used so you can hear distinctive POST or BOOT sounds that go on when you turn on your computer. If it has any errors (RAM,CPU,or similliar),the speaker will sound itself more than one time so you know whats the problem...
Even to this day I still have the cosmos 2 for my rig and is still as good as new. I just need to change the front fan for a newer one and the front panel cables are a big pain but I can still hide them in the fron.
You can cut and put one or you can order a copy of your your side panel totally made of acrylic. Google some images with "side panel cosmos II acrylic" and see if you like.
It would be nicer if the cables that go to the front panel were position more toward the bottom, since that's where you would normally plug them in to the motherboard...
It can be used for both. most tend to use it for servers though. Unless they get the TX10 D which takes a motherboard on both sides and they have both in one case.
Your video made me buy one, thanks :) I had a CM Stacker 830 before and I always thought it was quite big, but next to the cosmos 2 it looks tiny. It's a good thing I want to show it off, because it's too high to fit under my desk...
That's An Beast of a Case, Awesome Review Linus, Like the Case a lot, seeing it for the first time + the review of it. Watched the Review of his Brother the Cosmos SE series, which this one dwarfs the other lol :), Awesome Job my Canadian Geek Friend. :) You do Good Job.
Yep, I still have this case with my new i9-14900K, MSI Ace Z790 and 4090 FE watercooled with an external radiator lol I came here to see if my power button is supposed to be lit up following my upgrade and I can't believe it's been 12 years, wtf bro?! (No, the power button is not lit up, which means I didn't miss anything...:P)
Just successfully fitted an alphacool 360xt (46mm thick) radiator in mine between M/B and top section with no mods! And so many people saying it can't be done on many sites! Asus P9X79 WS
Bought it 2014 in Egypt and it served me very well. i changed my setup to be mainly a laptop and every thing connected to a usb hub. which why i am selling my old pc and this case. I just hope i don't regret it later.

I own the Cosmos 2 and if you're interested in liquid cooling the 900D is definitely the way to go. I'm about to liquid cool my Cosmos though and I still love it :P
the very case i have wanted since i helped build a system in one just before official launch... still to this day... my ultimate dream case... i would even just shift this old x58 system into it for the time being and be quite happy...
A friend of mine gifted me this case because he's moving soon and won't have room for it. It's big. I mean, holy crap it's big. My old case nearly fits within the motherboard space in the case. Empty, my toddler could climb inside of it and close the door (which is why it's going in the basement as a stream-gaming rig). My friend has it already kitted out with an impressive array of fans, including a pair of 140 mms on the left side door to keep the GPUs frosty. It's pretty outrageous! The thing is built like a tank. The black anodized aluminum on the outside is prone to scratches, and this thing wears quite a number of them on both sides. I admit I contributed a few of these scratches when laid the damn thing on its side while installing my motherboard before realizing that the doors quite easily detach. I did have to, for a moment, swing both doors open and step back to look at it like a Lamborghini with gullwing doors deployed, and stand in a bit of awe. The case is massive. The doors are massive. The thing dominated the room. Anyhow, having inherited this case, I am filled with a certainty that I have picked the friend who gave this to me well. My only regret is that it's going somewhere that I won't see it very often...
+Eleck when i build my gaming beast im going probably x9 cases by thermaltake just to stack them for water cooling tho i plan on overclocking having both sli and cross fire as well as lots of lights and make it like a center piece of the room itll sit in but this thing looks huge im starting to worry im underestimating how large my build will be

It is nearly 2018 and I still think this is THE BEST CASE I've seen so far... It is truly amazing, just gorgeous.

I still have the first one from 2008 in 2020 lol. I plan on buying this one today from ebay. They are still the best cases made
I still have the Cosmos 2, and making a PC Desk. I had the Coolermaster Cosmos RC1000 aka Cosmos 1 from 2008 to 2012.
Wow what a baller
Same. I think it will outlast me. Construction is crazy solid. Considering installing some wheels on the chassis though.
Me too

I love how you push your cat off the desk. He's just spotting you bro. JEEZ.
Well the cat was in front of the case..
The Sneaky Hipster I know I'm just trollin :p

I'm still using this case today 2024, bulletproof case
of course there's a cat in the box... even if you don't own any cats there's always one
But before he opened it was it dead or alive?
Lol The Linus Cat experiment, you put a cat in a pc case and there's a 50% chance they'll somehow electrocute themselves.
Maybe that's the true way of quantum computimg

is the cat an optional extra?

hell yeah! go get it bro!
You missed a fan out Linus. There is also space for another 120mm fan directly beneath the front 200mm fan.

I'm sure it does. Do the earrings come as well?
I'd buy this case and completely load out the drive cages

50 pounds? Do you even lift bro?
lmfao
I can carry my 130 pound brother with like 70% effort
just by the sheer size of the case, im suprised your table did not break
If your planning on watercooling, go with the 900D. Got more space for radiators: )
Why do so many compartmentalized cases have to be so ugly. :(
yess ugly..

not a big fan of cooler master. i think its their logo that pisses me off the most

Just got mine today! Still in the box, new. Been wanting this case since I built my first PC back in 2013.
Great review and I thought my Storm Trooper was big till I saw this beast.
Saw this case in a new LTT video and man this case is cool.
I still keep 3 of them to this day. cant dispose any cuz I love them
that cat moment was awesome. 1 billion percent perfectly played!
The side panels are extra thick so you can mount up to two 120mm fans on either side.
This is why I used a van to pick it up back in the day. I still have and use it because of the size, what can't you get in it!
You can cut and put one or you can order a copy of your your side panel totally made of acrylic.
Google some images with "side panel cosmos II acrylic" and see if you like.

My silverstone ft02 ran out of room so can't wait to get this, will be upgrading my mobo to the extreme 9 to 11 by the end of November^^
I am still using my Cosmos II 12 years later! It is a little big but damn its sexy to look at
Yeah, water coolers would appeal more to the 900D because of weight. But portability is worse because with the cosmos 2 you have handle bars.

I own the Cosmos 2 and if you're interested in liquid cooling the 900D is definitely the way to go. I'm about to liquid cool my Cosmos though and I still love it :P
My god.. If my HAF932 wasn't an indestructible beast I would sell my left arm for this thing. What a beautiful case. Well done Cooler Master.
the very case i have wanted since i helped build a system in one just before official launch... still to this day... my ultimate dream case... i would even just shift this old x58 system into it for the time being and be quite happy...
+Eleck when i build my gaming beast im going probably x9 cases by thermaltake just to stack them for water cooling tho i plan on overclocking having both sli and cross fire as well as lots of lights and make it like a center piece of the room itll sit in but this thing looks huge im starting to worry im underestimating how large my build will be
Excellent video..everything in this video is so descriptive. Thank you
4:47 cat is wondering what is inside there too xD
Its not about the look, its the size and the cooling that really matters
WOOO! Took delivery of mine today!
