I've collected matchbooks and boxes for 27 years. But I never take the matches out. I have about 800 from all over the world in mint condition. They are stored in airtight plastic containers and are not a fire hazard whatsoever
I am not a matchbook collector, but I am looking for a Hubert's Museum matchbook cover from New York City. I understand there are 5 versions of covers for the Museum. I am located in Nova Scotia Canada, and do not know where to start my search. I have a flea circus and flea and insect museum, and we have a dedicated exhibit for Hubert's museum as they had a flea circus. Any help locating a cover would be appreciated.
i'm glad to know it's OK to separate the covers. I found some interesting matchbooks that were improperly stored and didn't feel safe keeping the matches in the books.
I doubt most matchbook collectors get into it for the money , lol. But I understand where you're coming from .. for those who want to cash out , it's as good a time as any to cash out . For me , it's much more than that .there are some matchbooks I wouldn't part with for less than 100 dollars . They may not be worth much to most people , but to me , they are worth that and more .
If you need any info , let me know .. I collect matchbooks , not matchbook covers .. I only collect perfect specimens in mint or near mint condition with all matches intact . Those bring much more money .. I can tell you alot about what to do , and what to watch out for .. scammers on Ebay..
